The village is perfectly set up for a week in the sun, with supermarkets, post offices and a tourist information office. Italians flock to Palaia for the restaurants through. There are a handful of exquisite restaurants with the village serving local delicacies, especially the family owned Peti Rosso and the open air pizzeria just down the road in Colleoli. Palaia is an ancient village which dates back to Etruscan times, although much of the reconstruction of the village occurred during the Middle Ages. There are some beautifully sturdy monuments in the village, which can be toured leisurely on foot.

Taking a holiday rental in Palaia is the perfect solution for discovery of Tuscany’s most impressive sights. Pisa is just 25 minutes from Palaia and the cultural treasure chest of Florence is 40 minutes away. Both are easily accessible by car from Palaia, although travelling by train is a more relaxing way to visit Florence as driving and parking in the city can be a tough ask.
The nearby village of Colleoli is a real asset for tourism in Palaia. The spa facilities are wonderfully luxurious, and a great place to relax after a day investigating the Tuscan countryside.

Holidays to Palaia are most popular from the start of May until the end of October when the weather is perfect for exploration of the countryside. In July and August, daily temperatures average around 27˚C, with daily peak in the 30’s, which can be a little uncomfortable for long afternoons walking. In the winter, temperatures remain above 10˚C for much of the time, making a holiday home in Palaia perfect for a winter retreat.

Located just 40kms from Pisa International Airport (PSA), a holiday rental in Palaia is easily reached from the UK. EasyJet provide a range of cheap flights to Palaia, although there are other airlines servicing Pisa. It is advised you rent a hire car so as to get the most from a Palaia holiday, but there are good train connections to the village if you would prefer not to drive during your holiday.
