Things to do in Pals, Spain

The Salvador Dali Trail begins just 21km (14miles) from your villa in Pals with the castle of Dali’s wife, at Pubol. The Portlligat house museum near Cadaques was where Dali lived and worked from 1930 to 1982. Continue your trail at Figueres where you can see the Dali Theatre and Museum which has a large collection of his artwork. Dali is buried in a crypt in the museum basement.

Head to the coast and enjoy sailing, diving and other watersports on some of the best white sand beaches in Spain. Aigua Blava, Calella de Palafrugell and Llfranc beaches are reputedly the most beautiful beaches in the area, with rocky headlands leading down to small sandy coves. They are safe and pleasant for sunbathing and swimming.

The important town of Girona is just a 40km (25 mile) drive from your villa at Pals. It is full of Roman and Arabic history in the old quarter and has plenty of interesting shops. It also has a beautiful Cathedral and a significant Jewish quarter.

La Bisbal d’Emporda - The Hostell Castell d’Emporda in the lovely old town was built over 800 years ago and is a wonderful architectural treasure and focal point of the town. It is just 11km (8 miles) from your Pals villa and once belonged to Pere Margarit who sailed with Columbus and himself discovered Margarita Island. This medieval castle has been transformed into a beautiful hotel surrounded by a forest and orchard. You can enjoy a meal or refreshments in the restaurant and experience this wonderful building for yourself.

The Baroque Church of Santa Maria de Bisbal was built in 901 and is not to be missed. There is also the Church of the Pieta, the Church of Dolori and the old 17th century Vell Bridge which are all worth a visit.
