Make a holiday rental home or villa in Pierantonio, Italy your home away from home
Pierantonio is a busy farming village, and one of the ‘newest’ towns in the Perugia area of Umbria. The beauty of a holiday in Pierantonio is that you can do as much or as little as you like during your stay. If you plan simply to relax it could not be easier, with the excellent accommodation providing a comfortable and authentic Italian base to do this. The more active visitors can head out into the countryside for hikes and walks – returning home refreshed and rejuvenated.
Things to do in Pierantonio, Italy
Unlike many towns and villages in the region, Pierantonio does not sit atop a hill – as it was founded after the Middle Ages when self-defence was less of an issue. This means that an enjoyable walk can be had through the relatively flat town centre, stopping for the odd espresso or glass of local wine as you go. The main street in Pierantonio is generally quiet, save for the odd car and a few locals going about their everyday tasks. The church of S. Paterniano is situated along the street, as well as its more recently-built belfry, and this is a good place to start your sightseeing.
Amenities in Pierantonio are sufficient for a town of its size, though you can always head into nearby Umbertide if you require a larger supermarket. The surrounding area is extremely rural and provides a taste of ‘real Italy’. Walking and hiking are popular with visitors, with a favourite route running uphill to Monte Corona; the peak of which is marked by a centuries-old monastery and is the ideal spot for that all-important souvenir photograph.
