Cartagena is an historical Spanish city with beautiful architecture. Set around the harbour it has a number of defensive forts. Most of its archeological treasures date back to Roman times. There are remains of a Roman colonnade, amphitheatre, House of Fortune and the Decumanus. Newer buildings include the Grand Hotel, City Hall and the Casino which are all magnificent landmarks.

The city of Murcia is the capital city of the region and has a wealth of architectural treasures dating back over 800 years. The Cathedral de Santa Maria has magnificent Baroque architecture.

The Museum Ramon Gaya is also worth visiting to see the work of this local artist, influenced by Vasquez and Rembrandt.

La Manga - The area known as Mar Menor is a natural lagoon cut off by a spit of land 13 miles long. This extraordinary natural feature has created a swimming lagoon. There is a lighthouse on the end of the strip called Cabo de Palos.
