Welcome to the Apennine Mountains of Reggio Emilia in the Tuscan Emilian National Park
When you arrive in Reggio Emilia, founded in 175 BC, you step back in history. There is Byzantiane art and architecture at every tur, the finest of which include the Basilica of San Prospero and the Piazza Prampolini where the markets are held every Tuesday and Friday mornings, the Grand Duomo and the renowned Teatro Municpale.
Venture further south and you are in the land of Countess Matilada of Canossa and the Tuscan Emilian National park of the Apennine mountains. Here you will find the medieval castles of Canossa, Carpineti and Rossena. Travel on the Castelnova Nel' Monte here on which sits the Bismantova, a magnificent sandstone plateau. Its awesome structure is a breathtaking symbol of the region. From here to the thermal springs of Poiano you can travel through the Triassic Valley and up to Monte Cusna in the Il Gigante National Park with a height of 2121 metres.
Through out the region, the tranquil villages come alive with the many festivals through the four seasons. The Maggio in July and August is an ancient traditional festival also the Chestnut and New wine festival in October are villa Minozzo's largest and most colourful festivals. Of course the Italian food is another reason to visit this area the home of Parmigiano Reggiano (Parmesan cheese), Parma Ham and Balsamic vinegar. Porcini Mushrooms and Chestnuts can be found growing wild in the foothills in the autumn.
Spring, summer, autumn or winter; the scenery that surrounds you is spectacular with the wild alpine flowers, roe deer and wild boar seen in the meadows surrounding us.
Summer and winter sports; walking, cycling and skiing can be enjoyed by all. Also horse riding and three open air swimming pools close by.
A place that is adventurous or as tranquil as you would wish it to be.
