Perugian perils and pleasures

Five assorted souls, three adult, Irish, South African, English, two children, arrived by train from Florence. Taxi drivers all knew where the Villa was and did not overcharge for the 15 minute trip. Good start. Met by Guiseppe who gave a very good first impression which lasted throughout. Sensible, affable, patient and very good English speaker with a lot of local friends and recommendations for visits. Took us out in his car after settling in to point out local amenities like supermarket, bakery, bus stops and shortest walk into town etc. Very useful.
The villa was very well equipped apart from not having an oven. Local restaurants, however, mitigated this omission.
Bus stops a short walk from the Villa. Walk up to the little roundabout near the bakery in Monteluce and three services operate. The P bus goes past the end of the villa's road. It goes into the heart of Perugia for trips to Assissi and Gubbio from the bus station.
Be aware that Perugia hasn't got a single piece of flat straight road or footpath. It also hasn't got a single piece of boring architecture, no boring views and no boring food.
We had a wonderful week, good accommodation, nice pool, good company, lovely host family including extemely pleasant Mum, Dad and sister. A genuine warm welcome was offered and gratefully received. All five souls went home with great memories and a full camera.
