This was without a doubt the best! This was a small part of the Speakes Family but I am sure next year we will need more cabins. Thanks Tom, Jan, Linda, Connie and all the clan who made it special!!!!

What can I say about this cabin that would do it justice?? WOW!!!!! Our large family rented this cabin for Grandmas' 90th B-Day and we had a blast!! The cabin was stocked with everything you would need and then some. This cabin is beautifully decorated these pictures don't begin to do it justice. Top of the line all the way. My husband always says " Go Big or Go Home" when it comes to doing things. Mr. Bates went Big in a Big way on this cabin.

The week of March 21st, my whole family stayed in Cabin 4 to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday. We vacation in Franklin every year and have our own place on the next mountain but it is no longer big enough to hold all of us. After staying in cabin 4, none of us will ever be satisfied again. It has every amenity imaginable. We were furnished with two highchairs plus a beautiful hand made highchair that was perfect for pictures of a first birthday we celebrated. The kitchen has the very latest in conveniences including state of the art washer and dryer. Every room is beautiful and completely outfitted. I can't think of anything we could have wanted that wasn't available to us. There was even enough parking for everybody. We hired a photographer to come and take pictures of the whole family. The inside of the cabin as well as the scenery outside made the perfect backdrop for pictures. My family is already planning next year's reunion. This may become a tradition.

Our 2003/2004 Holiday vacation in Bates Cabin #4 will be remembered as truly FANTASTIC!!! Our very large family was more than satisfied with our stay. Immediately upon our return home, we booked for the Christmas /New Year's period of 2004/2005. Every member of the family from the 8 year old to the 89 year old Grandma loved this family vacation!
The amenities are the "top of the line" from the appliances to the furnishings! The nice front-loading washer & dryer are very convenient. The kitchen functions like a dream! It is huge and well stocked with anything and everything to make a vacation a pleasure. The Bates' attention to detail offers their guests all the comforts of home without any hassles. The bedrooms are spacious & the beds are inviting. The linens are plentiful & the comforters and quilts coordinated & warm. The bathrooms are beautifully decorated. The gas fireplace in the living room kept us toasty and promoted gatherings with talking, laughing & sharing unforgetable moments.
Each bedroom has a TV & the kids liked playing the many video games. Our children watched several family movies from the video library.
Our teenagers cranked up the volume on the impressive sound system and danced the night away. We brought in the New Year with a BANG!
The outside "wrap around" balcony is one of the best features. The views are breathtaking, the rocking chairs are quaint & comfy and the two outside fireplaces were always burning brightly in the crisp evening air. The balcony grill is big & useful and goes well with the outside dining table and chairs. Most nights we roasted marshmellows & weenies in the campfire circle. We often saw many deer & wild turkeys, along with rabbits, oppossums & pretty cardinals.
We rode the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, went ice skating, enjoyed antiquing, had fun snow tubing, sent the kids horseback riding, & visited scenic waterfalls...We even had time to mine for rubies and emeralds! While the adults rested, the kids from college to elementary school age went hiking & exploring.
Did we mention that Mr. Bates called to see if we needed the driveways cleared for snow or ice, & offered to have the "onsite maintenance" person bulldoze a path, if needed, at any time?
What a PERFECT GETAWAY!!! WE especially appreciated the box of chocolates that were left for us on the dining room table, along with the note that read "Welcome Home." That says it all...
THANKS, Connie and Mr. and Mrs. Bates. We will return again and again. You certainly know how to make folks feel right at home!
Stan and Cyndi Behrens & the Gang :)

**P.S...If you are considering renting a cabin from the Bates, please feel free to email us. We looked at all the cabins. The computer pictures do not do them justice. Each is unique and designed and decorated with your comfort in mind! They are indeed "gems" nestled on the mountain, just waiting to be discovered.**
