We have just spent 2 great weeks in this appartment. It is spacious, clean and has everything you would ever need for your holiday. The appartment overlooks a lovely quiet pool, has sea views and is very secure. It is centrally located with easy access to the shops, the city of funchal and all the local hotels including Reids. David and Manuela were extremely helpful in organising our transfers to and from the appartment and saved the day by putting us in touch with a back specialist when my partner injured his back. A great appartment in a wonderful country.

A joy to stay in this luxurious appartment in the grounds adjacent to Reids Hotel. Ideally situated and close to all ameneties, and many excellent restaurants.
Very clean, well equipped and comfortable. Adjacent to the lounge and both bedrooms there is access to a lovely large balcony overlooking gardesn, sea and swimming pool. Security is excellent and includes a basement car park, which is also beautifully maintained.
Owners David and Manuela are helpful beyond the call of duty and make you very welcome. This apartment is highly recommended.

A lovely property

This apartment certainly exceeded our expectations. It is spacious, well furnished, bright and airy. The balcony affords beautiful views of the gardens and the sea, and also overlooks the large, clean swimming pool which, incidentally, was only used by our son during our week's stay! The apartment contains everything you need, including a coffee maker and hair-drier and don't do as I did and take an iron with you!

There is some traffic noise at night but we were able to exclude this by having the bedroom door closed. If it were hotter, there is air-conditioning but if, like me, you are a very light sleeper and don't like this option, you might want to use ear-plugs.

We had hired a car and so followed the directions given to us by the owners which were very helpful. However, please note that when you see the apartments in front of you, it is necessary to cross over the dual carriageway and double back on yourself for a few metres.

The security arrangements are excellent - locked double gates for cars and a locked pedestrian gate, and, when we went out, we felt able to leave things in the apartment securely.

The walk into Funchal to the restaurants at the harbour is about 15 mins and about half an hour if you want to go to the old town where the more interesting restaurants are situated . Please note that there is about a ten minute walk uphill on the way back.

This was our second visit to Madeira and this time we found hiring the car gave us the freedom that we like, rather than depending on the whims of taxi drivers. (Although friends of ours swear by them and wouldn't dream of driving themselves!) Our drives into the mountains were breathtaking: on one occasion we escaped the rain of Funchal and emerged from the clouds into brilliant sunshine, surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.

Altogether we enjoyed our stay enormously and the apartment contributed greatly. Unless you want to be waited on hand and foot, we can think of no advantages of staying in a hotel instead.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION - SIMPLY FABOULOUS
The appartment was beautifully maintained. The large balcony which overlooks the pool and gardens was so wonderfully private. Many good restaurants are within easy walking distance as is 2 small supermarkets and lovely pattiserie.
Manuela welcomed us on arrival detailing all we needed to know for our holiday. The biggest compliment we could pay to Manuela is we made a friend and look forward to returning next year.

This prestigious well designed 2 bedroom appartment close to the Reid`s Hotel is ideally situated within the Reid`s gardens. This offers great security and it also overlooks the swimming pool with delightful sea and garden views.
The owners have spared no expense in taste and furnishings and have provided every luxuary.
There are beautiful en suite bedrooms and a superb living dining area all of which have access to the terrace balcony equipped with pleasing garden furniture.
The kitchen has every conveience possible and there is an excellent laundry room.
The owners have given great thought and consideration to their self catering guests with plenty of well stocked reading material plus dvd, cd,radio, video and tv.
Guests with a car have secure garaging under the appartments and they are also within easy walking distance of many restaurants, shops, banks and on a bus route and only 150 metres walk to the sea front.
As a family we feel that discovering this exceptional appartment and it`s owners is like finding a piece of pure gold.

A Review of Apartment 3D Reid’s Gardens, Funchal

jetset2 Lincoln UK
Review Submitted: May 14, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2007
Located within Reid's Gardens, which are adjacent to the famous Reid's Hotel, the apartment is spacious, comfortable and equipped with just about everything you could need. The kitchen is fitted out to a high standard and in addition to a top of the range cooker there is also a dish washer, fridge and freezer. A washer/ dryer is located in the utility room. The two bedrooms are large with two 3ft single beds in each room and both have a huge amount of fitted wardrobe space and as a bonus they are fitted with air conditioners. There are bathrooms next to each of the bedrooms
The lounge / dining room is again, large and well fitted out. The veranda, which over looks the swimming pool and the beautifully maintained gardens, has plenty of room and you can eat out there if you wish.
The apartment forms part of an upmarket development which is not a holidays centre; nearly all the apartments are residential which gives the whole place a very quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Most of the time you will find that you have the pool to yourselves. There are some small shops just across the road i.e. two Mini- Markets, a bakery /coffee shop and a paper shop. About a mile down the road, at the Lido Complex, is a larger super market (Pingo Doce) along with even more shops. We prefer to walk there but it’s easy to get a taxi. Eating out is not a problem, there’s a wide range of restaurants within walking distance. Funchal is about a 15-20 minute walk.
Unlike many apartments, the owners, David & Manuela are not absentee landlords, they live in Funchal and therefore keep a close eye on things. Manuela will meet you on arrival and give you a full explanation of everything and that’s it, unless you have a problem you will not see her again until you leave. This year will be our third visit and we’ve never had any trouble with anything, which reflects the high standard of maintenance and care given to the apartment.
In summary, if you are looking for a five star holiday apartment at one of the best addresses in Funchal then this is for you. Furthermore, David & Manuela are a really nice couple who will go out of their way to make sure everything is right for you.

Lovely Holiday

Review Submitted: May 9, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
The apartment is like home from home, thank you for welcoming us in such a friendly manner. The apartment is spacious and spotless, and had all we needed for a very relaxing holiday. The balcony was a place that we spent a lot of time reading and sun bathing. It is in walking distance to lots of restaurants, shops, bakers, bus stops.
All in all we had a lovely holiday and hope to book with you in the future.
