Lovely villa in a wonderful location

Lucyloo Cobourg, Canada
Review Submitted: July 3, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Just back from a great holiday. The villa had everything we could wish for and was much larger than I thought. The separate kitchen was a benefit and although small (like most Spanish kitchens) it had plenty of work top and was well equipped with everything we could want including a kettle and coffee maker. There was a full oven and microwave and fridge freezer etc but we ate out most of the time as there were splendid restaurants (reasonable prices) within an easy walk.

The swimming pool was lovely and large enough for a proper swim and the sunbeds meant we spent a lot of time around by the pool.

I would recommend a car as the main resorts and beaches were a 10 minute drive away - but there were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, banks and a large supermarket within a short walk. We were so happy in the villa and surrounding area that we only ventured down to the resort twice during a 2 week stay as we wanted peace and quiet.

We booked a car in advance at the airport and the owner provided us with clear directions. The villa was easy to find and just a 20 minute drive from the airport. Also on about 10 minutes from a golf course.

The nearby tennis/country club was great for a drink and a snack.

The villa was clean and well maintained and a joy to stay in and we would recommended it to family and friends and we have already booked for next year.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for the review. The villa is in a quiet position yet within an easy walk to shops, bars and restuarant. The renowed Parasio restaurant at Valle San Lorezo is well used by locals and residents of the nearby resorts as it has gained a good reputation for good and reasonaly priced food.

The tennis club is only at the end of the road and offers food and drinks during the day - you can even use their pool if you want a change from your own lovely private pool at the villa. If you feel energetic you can hire a tennis court.

The Spanish lady who cleans the villa for me has been looking after the property since before we owned it and is reliable.

Janet and her husband do any maintaince work are British and are only a phone call away in case of any problems while guests are on holiday. They make sure the villa is kept up to standard - although we do visit the villa ourselves on a regular basis.

The pool is serviced my Bob, another Brit and everyone makes sure the place is maintained properly.

The new Siam Park is well worth a visit for those who like the water and is only a 10 minute drive away. The Ecological Park is just over a 5 minute drive away and also well worth a visit.

For golfers there are six courses and all within a 20 minute drive.

The villa is for guests looking for a quiet holiday away from the main resorts but close enough for visits.

Wonderfull Stay !

The villa lived up to all our expectations. We had a wonderfull stay and enjoyed every day on the isle. The villa is situated in a quiet part of Valle san Lorenzo. The neighbour is very helpfull and friendly. We could drop off our lugage as we were 4 hours too "early" at the villa.
I would recommend the villa to anyone but with a car....

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your review and pleased you had a good holiday. The neighbours are friendly. Valle San Lorenzo is within walking distance with many bars, renowned restaurants and shops but the main Los Cristianos resort is a 10 minute drive away.

The Ecological Park is just a five minute drive away and the new Siam Theme Park a 10 minute drive. For guests who enjoy golf there is a choice of six different courses within a 20 minute drive.

There is a bus at the end of the road but a car is definately recommended so guests can explore the island - there is plenty to see and do.

We have just returned from a two week holiday in this lovely villa. The directions were fantastic despite arriving in the dark. The villa is in a very quiet and peaceful location slightly up the island away from the bustle of the coastal resorts. We spent many days just on the patio by the beautiful and extremely clean and inviting pool (still a bit cold though - but the girls 14 and 12, braved it and so did we on one occasion!). We really appreciated the peace and privacy and lovely views down to the coast. The garden is delightful and the villa is well cared for and clean with plenty of space. Thank you for a lovely relaxing time. We were a bit unlucky with the weather which I understand has not been great over the past months but when we did get the sunshine - about 50% of the time it was beautiful. On the cloudier days it was almost always possible to find sunshine, either by going up the mountain (sunny above the cloud but chilly) or going towards the west coast area. The local towns are less touristy than the coast and there are some nice restaurants nearby - described in the book in the villa.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for the review and pleased you had a good time.

We are actually staying in the villa ourselves this week - we visit regularly to make sure the villa is kept in good condition for guests.

I am pleased to say that the weather seems to have changed for the better and each day it has been around 28 degrees and sunshine all day.

Great time in Tenerife

Review Submitted: April 17, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
The villa was situated in a quiet residential area with a view of the sea in the distance. There is a bus stop and service on the main road but a car is useful to get around and visit the other parts of the island.

Its great to get away from the business of the beach to the tranquility of where the villa is. The pool stayed warm all day. We loved the jacuzzi bathroom but learnt not to put too many bubbles in it and turn the jets on.

The living space was big with Sat TV and a good dining area. The kitchen is small but had all the stuff you need to cook if you wanted to. We didn't cook much as there are some great restaurants close by, such as the Camel Park and a chinese and few others.

There's a bit of garden to flake out in and the poolside area was lovely. In the evening it was a favourite thing of ours to sit outside and play cards and have a few(!) drinks.

The villa was clean and well maintained which made it a real home from home for us. We were sorry to have to leave - but we'll certainly be back again.

Owner's Response: Pleased you had a good time. Yes, the villa is in a lovely position but near enough to drive to the resorts.

There are also 5 golf courses within a 20 minute drive.

The village of Valle San Lorenzo is a short walk away with bars and restaurants shops, banks plus a bakery which bakes fresh bread daily and a large supermarket.

The restaurant you mention at the Camel Park is situated in an old farm and you can either outside in the matue gardens looking towards the sea or in the converted farmhouse. The food is not the cheapest around but it is excellent and well worth the treat.

The tennis club is only 2 minutes away from the villa if you get fed up laying by your own private pool.

Fab villa in great location

Review Submitted: April 3, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
This was the third holiday villa we have stayed in for holidays in Tenerife and this one was by far the best. The villa was spacious and well furnished. There was even a selection of books to read left by the owner. We do not like the noisy resorts so the villa was in a perfect location but still only an easy 10 minute drive to the resort and a lovely sandy beach. We hired a car so we could do sightseeing but the vila was so comfy we did not venture far very often. The two villages were an easy flat walk along a well lit tree pavement so we could have a meal and a drink in the evening knowing we had a lovely comfy place to walk back to.
The villa was well presented and immacuately clean. We had no problems with anything while we were there and the weather was wonderful. The Satellite TV even received BBC and ITV not that we watched TV much. The owner provided clear directions from the airport so the villa was easy to find. The British neighbours who live next door were lovely when we asked them what to do in the area. This villa is ideal for those who want to get out of the resorts but be in within easy reach. There is an hourly bus at the end of the road which we used once - just for the experience. The nearby tennis club was reat for burning off all those excess calories. I would most definately recommend this villa to anyone who asked and we are going to book again.

Owner's Response: Pleased to hear you had a lovely time. The pavement which connects both La Camella and Valle San Lorenzo was only finished a few years ago. In places it has been lined with trees so it makes for a lovely tree lined walk. The villa is for the more discerning guests who want to be away from the resorts. With the beach only a 10 minute drive away it is close enough if you want to experience the resort culture. But like you, we prefer the Canarian areas ourselves.

We made a bad choice

Deltadry Beeding, Sussex, UK
Review Submitted: March 30, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
We stayed for two weeks over Christmas 2008 and New Year. The most worrying issue is the electrical circuitry, which tripped out twice during rain, suggesting that water is getting into the wiring. There were also two sockets that were loose in the wall and we thought were unsafe, especially with children present. We reported these problems to the owner by letter after our stay, and were told these matters would be attended to. The villa was very cold in the evenings and at night despite very hot sunny days, with no means of heating it. It was damp and musty in some rooms and wardrobes, especially the 'master-suite'. The pool is unheated, was very cold and was totally unusable. Some of the sun-chair cushions were torn and stained. The table on the terrace sags and is held together with string. There were no instructions explaining how to use the Spanish washing-machine and oven. The toaster did not work properly. The ironing board was broken and we replaced it with the owners agreement. The location is not Los Cristianos: it is up in the hills 10 minutes fast driving from town and at least 30 minutes from getting on the beach, allowing for finding parking. This is the first time in many years of villa rentals that we have been so disappointed.
Owner's Response: I was sorry to hear you were disappointed with your holiday. We were staying in the villa ourselves shortly before and only left two days before you arrived. I did email to warn you that Tenerife was experiencing unusually cold and wet weather and suggest you take some warmer clothing as the villa is unheated. We lived in the villa full itme for 8 years and heating has never been necessary. I certainly did not imagine the bad weather would last for weeks.

We did maintainance work, touching up paintwork etc while we were there and there were no loose sockets. All the electricity was professionally checked before we started renting out the villa. The villa was certainly not musty before we left. The toaster worked for us and I asked my next door neighbour to check and she tells me it is working fine.

The patio table was not sagging when we were there but I did not use the seat covers - I will check these when I am next over and replace if necessary.

Regarding the swimming pool. This is heated by a solar cover, but you had very little sun during your stay and apparently the weather was unusually cold at nights. Therefore the solar cover would not have worked very well.

I was there with my family last Christmas and my grandchildren swam in the pool every day - the weather was glorious.

My neighbour tells me that the local newspapers have been full of the fact, that this winter has been the coldest and wettest on record in the Canary Islands.

It is interesting to note that the only negative reviews which have been received are during periods when the weather has been exceptionally bad. Unfortunately, I cannot be held responsible for the weather.

I am pleased to report the weather now seems back to normal and is warm and sunny.

May 2009 - We have just returned from the villa ourselves and have had the electricity supply checked. We have also carried out any necessary maintainance work. There was no musty smell but I treated and painted the inside of the wardrobes.

The family who arrived the day we left emailed me to say "we have arrived to a fantastic villa."

Disappointing

Review Submitted: March 21, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
LOCATION
Please be aware that this property is up a mountain - not mentioned anywhere in the descriptions! We were expecting to be staying in a village between Cristianos & Las Americas but you are actually between 2 villages way, way above the holiday areas. With no car we faced a long, winding bus journey up & down the mountain each day taking approximately 20-40 minutes, depending on number of pick-ups, certainly NOT the 10 minute drive suggested. Valle San Lorenzo (a 30 minute stroll away) is a lovely Spanish village but there is not enough there to keep a family happy for 2 weeks! Also, the weather up the mountain is often cloudy when there is sunshine down below.
THE VILLA
Again, disappointed. The villa is spacious & could be lovely but lacks the "wow" factor & a little TLC would not go amiss! The villa suffers from terrible damp which can be seen on several walls but particularly in the ensuite bathroom where the ceiling is falling, bit by bit, into the "jacuzzi"! The dressing room is also unusable for the same reason; I had to WASH 2 coats which had been hung in there overnight as they smelled so musty & our clothes had to be repacked into our suitcases where they remained for the rest of the holiday. The jacuzzi itself does not work (although an electrician DID come to look at it while we were there but it needs new pumps), my husband got an electric shock when emptying the washing machine (we mentioned it to the electrician but, apparently, appliances do not have to be earthed in spain) AND from the lights above the bathroom mirror. Paintwork in the twin bedroom has been dabbed to cover dirty marks & seat pads for the garden furniture need replacing; all little things but, as I say, a lack of TLC. Finally, a good clean would not go amiss; we arrived to the main shower cubicle not having been cleaned & so it remained throughout our stay, even when the maid "cleaned" mid-stay, & the loo could do with some limescale remover.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
This holiday was booked to accommodate our newborn grandchild who, sadly, passed away. Imagine our horror, having previously notified the owner, when we arrived to find a cot waiting in the master bedroom. Our daughter & son-in-law were distraught. What a great start to our much-needed holiday! I was told by email that the maid must have been working from the original list but that is simply not good enough when something like this has happened.
SIGHTSEEING

Owner's Response: I'm sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay but it would seem you did not absorb what you read in my advert where I state my villa is situated between two villages and that it is a 10 minute car journey down to Los Cristanos. The villa is situated in the foothills and not up a mountain as you describe. I also clearly state that a car is recommended. Of course the journey would take longer by bus because they are there to serve commuinities and villages and therefore are not direct routes, but it is not a winding mountain road.

Despite my recommendation that a car is needed, many people have enjoyed the quiet position of the villa and the short, mostly flat, walk into the village of Valle San Lorenzo which is only half a mile away.

If there was any flaking of paintwork you only had to call Janet who looks after the villa for me. She would have sorted out any maintainace problems - that is what she is there for.

With regard to the dressing room, if you kept the small ventilation window shut, along with the solid door it might well have smelt a bit musty through lack of air.

Regarding the weather. Sometimes it can also be sunny at the villa and cloudy at the resort. Usually it is sunny - but the weather is totally out of my control.

Only a few months ago the villa had new sofas, curtains, rug and coffee table as well as general maintenance being carried out so your claim of it needing TLC is without foundation. We use the villa ourselves every few months to check up on things and deal with anything that needs seeing to.

I do aplogise for the cot situation but it would seem there was some confusion with the cleaner who is normally very reliable.

The villa is for guests who want to get away from the usual resort stay, and again, this is stated in my advert.

We visit the villa every few months ourselves to make sure everything is as it should be. Janet looks after the villa for me while I am away and she is only a phone call away if guests have any maintainance problems during their holiday.

It is interesting to note that the people who stayed there prior to you, have sent me a lovely thank you card saying how 'wonderful' everything was for them and that they wish to book again.

* Since this review I have visited the villa myself and made sure any issues were resolved including painting the twin bedroom etc. The villa was certainly neither damp or musty and we had a lovely time in the sun.

Great villa

A spacious villa in a quiet cul-de-sac but only a 10 minute drive to the beaches and the resorts.

The Spanish village of Valle San Lorenzo was an easy walk, where there were plenty of shops and bars and restaurants. We much preferred the Spanish areas and only went to the main resorts when we wanted to use the beach which was lovely and sandy.

The villa was fitted out with everything we could need and having our own pool was wonderful.

There were about 5 golf courses within a 20 minute drive - which pleased my husband.

We used to stay in hotels but staying in a villa worked out a lot cheaper and the standard was higher. Plus we could eat out wherever we liked.

The owner provided us with clear instructions on how to get to the villa from the airport and it was only about a 20 minute drive.

This was a lovely holiday in a lovely villa and I will be recommending to friends and family.

Owner's Response: It is always good to receive feedback and pleased you had a good holiday. The villa is in a good postion for those who do not like the hustle and bustle and noise in a resort. But the resorts are only a 10 minute drive away if you want the experience a couple of times during your stay.

There are some great award winning restaurants in Valle San Lorenzo plus bars offering reasonable priced tapas and meals. There is even a Japanese and Chinese restaurant.

Two local bakeries bake bread daily and there are plenty of shops to suit all tastes plus a large supermarket.

There are golf courses to suit all levels of players as golf is becoming more popular on the island. The villa is ideally situated to visit them all.

The pool is larger than most pools in private villas and there is patio furniture and sunbeds.

The amount of repeat bookings I get would indicate guests are happy to return.

Villa in Valle San Lorenzo

Boso Aberdeenshire
Review Submitted: June 3, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
For us the villa was in a good location, directions were good & we found the place easy enough. The local amenities are good, restaurants, bakers, supermarket. Plenty to do but you do need the car to get out & about, Los Cristianos is 10 to 15 minutes down the hill, plenty shops bars etc & the beach is easy accessible.
Villa was spacious in all areas except the kitchen as there are only room for 2 people in there.
The outside area is great & the pool is a good size I think the only draw back for us is we got there at the end of May & the water in the pool was a bit cold.
Overall a great holiday in a good location away for the busy holiday resorts
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing
Owner's Response: Villa is spacious and it has a seperate kitchen, unlike most Tenerife holiday villas, which have an "American" style kitchen in the living room. Our seperate kitchen is fully fitted with oven and hob, washing machine, plenty of cupboard and worktop space plus microwave, toaster and kettle etc.

Water in the pool will be around the same temperature as the sea in May but as a couple of people have said they felt it a little cold I have just ordered a solar cover for the winter months.

A truly relaxing break

villa guest Cheshire
Review Submitted: June 2, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
To please our daughters (one a teenager) we had the definite benefit of being relatively near (just a short car journey) to the main resorts - with all the bustle that goes with it. For us parents we enjoyed the luxury of a fully equipped, tranquil villa positioned in pretty grounds on the edge of a quiet town. Here we could escape and relax with drinks by the pool reading something from the well supplied bookcase!

The villa made a great base from which to explore the island - the Monkey Park, the Water Park, Mount Teide etc - all of which were well worth seeing - and it was great to return to our calm haven at the end of each day. We returned to England with batteries fully recharged and we put much of that down to our accommodation!
Recommended for:  Sightseeing
Owner's Response: The villa is in an ideal postion to explore the island although many people just relax around by the pool. It is great to have a choice of both.

The bookcase has a selection of books for all tastes and guests often leave books they have bought - so the choice is growing.
