Bon séjour à Lisbonne

Review Submitted: November 6, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009

Review of Historic Lisbon apartment

Waterbeach Cambridge, UK
Review Submitted: August 25, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
I thoroughly recommend this property rental. Administration was prompt, friendly and efficient. Paula and her mother, who met us at the beginning and end of our stay, were welcoming and helpful. The owner left very helpful details in the property (some of which might usefully have been sent in advance). The whole apartment was clean and the rooms are very attractive, well furnished and well supplied. The location was perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy the character of the old town. There is a good supply of local shops. The views are beautiful. Excellent value for money.

Apartment with a view

Review Submitted: July 31, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Clean and well-maintained apartment at a central location. It was very easy to take walks to old parts of town and tram no 28 and bus no 34 took us around Lisbon. In the area there are local restaurants that provide reasonable priced meals and the bakery is just across the street. Besides us, our three children (3, 8 and 11 years) enjoyed Lisbon very much as there are a lot to do and see. Paula was very friendly and helpful throughout our one week visit - many thanks to her!

We really had a good time at the appartment in Lisboa. It was beautiful, clean, comfortable, cosy and quiet. The castle, churches, tram etc. were all within walking distance. We also enjoyed the wonderful views over the old town down to the river and up to the castle. We and our children would have liked to stay longer! The owner was very friendly and put in a bottle of port to welcome us.Thank you.We will definitely recommend your appartment to our friends!

Wonderful Lisbon Rental

Review Submitted: April 30, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
This apartment is high on a hill with great views down to the river. It has modern kitchen facilities, two bedrooms with double beds and a large, comfortable living/dining room. There is a price for being able to enjoy the apartment and the views: to get to the apartment you have to walk up three flights of fairly narrow circular stairs. Hence we cannot recommend the apartment for the disabled, or for families who have to carry infants or equipment up and down the stairs. The famous tram number 28 stops nearby, while taxis cruse for passengers every few minutes. It is a short, but uphill walk to Graca, with extensive shopping, restaurants, more trams, taxis and wide views over the city.
We enjoyed our stay at this apartment, and recommend it for your visit to Lisbon

An Opp't to Experience Portuguese Living

Review Submitted: April 25, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Before leaving home, we received helpful tips and a map on-line from the apt.owner on the best ways to get from the airport, places to avoid and interesting neighbourhoods to visit. On arrival, we were warmly greeted by Paula who offered good advice and suggestions. It was great to know she was close-by to ask questions of. The apt. had everything we needed, was clean, quiet and well-located for walking and/or to catch public transportation. It provided a wonderful opportunity to experience living in a typical, historic,Portuguese neighbourhood where we were welcomed like good friends in the small restaurants and shops (a smile is understood in every language and we exchanged lots of those). We indulged in the luscious pastry shops and wonderful fresh buns and bread from the bakeries. The weather was excellent and we look forward to returning to this beautiful city.

We spent the first week of February in the apartment and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The flat is pleasant with good views, although you should be aware that you need to climb two flight of very steep stairs. The electric radiators are not an ideal solution for heating in winter months but we coped happily enough. Paula, the caretaker, is excellent and amongst other things, very kindly helped us with internet access and ordering taxies. Our experience of Portugal was very positive. Most people speak English (and don't mind speaking it), public transport is impressive (although the warnings about pickpockets need to be heeded: we saw several gangs at work), and there is plenty to see. Food is abundant and cheap, although it has to be said the general standard of "eatery" cooking is not too high. Our only negative experience on the trip was with the Sol Nasciente, a restaurant which is near the flat by the nearest 28 tram stop, and they tried to charge us 16 euros for some bread and cheese they gave us while we read the menu. This said, this was the ONLY bad experience we had as tourists in nine days of intense activity, which I think further emphasises what a good place Lisbon is to visit.

In conclusion, I would happily recommend the flat to anyone who wants to explore this interesting city.

Just what we needed

Review Submitted: December 11, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
We had an interesting time getting there at night and to our relief the locals in the area where happy to help us find our way to the owners house. A nice welcome and pleasant 2 bedroom apartment with an amazing view over old town. It was so nice to get away from the hustle of the city at the end of the day and sit back with a bottle of the port they kindly left for us.
We didn't use the kitchen much because there are so many things happening close by in all the alleys and the new city is not far away by tram.
The best fish we had in Portugal and Spain, came from 2 places in Lisbon and one was up the hill behind this place, on a corner off Largo Da Graca, right hand side, on a car park. It just looks like a simple locals cafe, but better food than any restaurant in London. Also just before there is a great view of the city with an open air bar that is full at night. Awesome.
The apartment is clean, has 2 double beds with ample storage space. We felt secure. Would recommend for 1 to 4 people.

Dear João,
I wanted to write to give you our feedback on our recent stay in your apartment in Lisbon. We had a fantastic time and not only was the apartment well situated in terms of being able to explore the city on foot but the view is amazing! We also want to thank you and Paula for being so accommodatiing in terms of our arrival time. We really appreciated Paula meeting us to show us to the apartment even though we arrived so late.

Having the flexibility of apartment living definitely added to the enjoyment of our holiday. Thank you very much and we are already looking forward to returning to Lisbon and would love to stay in the apartment again.
