Apartment with a view

Review Submitted: June 12, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
This is truly a fantastic apartment owned by very nice people - Italians who speak excellent English and can't do too much to help you. We were met outside the apartment by the owner who showed us round and explained everything to us. It is literally a five minute walk to the Duomo in one direction and the station or coach station in the other. A supermarket is also 5 mins away and there are numerous restaurants catering to all tastes. It is very comfortable with everything you need and overlooks the square (currently undergoing complete restauration - which did not spoil our stay) and perfectly located for those wishing to visit Florence but not hire a car. The owners keep it very clean and it has a lovely atmosphere. It is located in a block which is very quiet as most of the other apartments are businesses which are closed at night. I cannot recommend it too highly as am excellent base from which to see all the sites of Florence.
Owner's Response: Thank you very much Kate for your comments about the apartment. You are always welcome at any time. If you come back I will be honored to invite you for dinner at my house in the countryside.
Hope to see you again. All the best to you.
Sergio

Absolutely gorgeous Florence apartment

mjde Newcastle, Australia
Review Submitted: November 25, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Our family of four (2 adults and 2 children aged 10 and 11) had a beautiful stay of four nights in this gorgeous apartment in early October.

The apartment is very clean and extremely well equipped. There is amazing attention to detail, including providing an umbrella (not that we needed it). The photos on the website do not do the apartment justice as it is much brighter than it appears.

We slept in the comfortable double bed in the bedroom whilst the children shared the sofa bed in the living room. The apartment was probably a little bit on the small side for all four of us and luggage, but we just had to ensure that the children did not spread their belongings too far and wide.

Sergio was very kind and met us at the railway station. The apartment is only a very short walk away and he settled us in, giving us directions to the supermarket and the fresh produce markets which are close by and an absolute must if you are visiting Florence. We spent ages there! Sergio also advised us to go to Piazzale Michelangelo for beautiful views over Florence, which we did and which was well worth the walk. I would also really recommend the church of Santa Maria Novella, which I thought was the most beautiful of all the churches in Florence.

The apartment is about a 10 minute walk from Duomo (the cathedral) and then a bit further to Piazza Vecchio, but everything is an easy walk in Florence. It was also great to be near enough to visit a gallery or church in the morning and return to the apartment for lunch and a rest before heading out again in the afternoon. Sight seeing is exhausting work.

Great appartment in Firenze

Couple with Teenager Vienna, Austria
Review Submitted: August 24, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We (small familiy) had a great time in this appartment in July/August 2009. It is located perfectly for enjoying the city because everything is within a walking distance (sights, shops, main station for trips to the Toscana). The appartment itself was nice, clean, with a good kitchen and comfortable beds. Everything was perfect apart from two things:

those who like to sleep with open windows in summer will have to accept that the piazza is not very quiet in the night (restaurants, bars, ambulance in the building on the other side of the piazza...) - those who like Italian lifestyle won´t have a problem with it
(by the way: if you keep the windows closed, you will not be disturbed by noises at all, and there is air-conditioning)

those who like a refreshing shower after busy sightseeing will also be disappointed as the water pressure is really low (dishwashing seemed to take a lot of our holiday time for this reason) -
what can I say: we always got clean but it was really not a great shower...

The owner was very nice, picked us up from the station and on the day of our departure he allowed us to use the appartment until 9pm without any extracosts as our train was leaving very late. Because of this we were able to enjoy an extra day in Pisa, which would have been problematic otherwise (because of luggage etc). Thanks again for this!

I would recommend this appartment to young people and small families. We had a great time there and it served our wishes.
Owner's Response: Santa Maria Novella square is very lively during the day and even during the night, for this reason the new windows have special glasses to avoid any sort of noise, so it's enough to close them and nobody will disturb you.
The water pressure from the municipal water system is usually low expecially during the summer so the building is equipped with a pressurised vat, but unfortunately was not working properly during that period.

Santa Maria Novella 22 apartment

Review Submitted: June 12, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We really enjoyed our stay in the apartment. It was 5 or 10 minutes away from all the historic sites, and five minutees from Arno river. About 10 minutes to the farmers market and flee market. The apartment is very clean and well maintained. Sergio and Anna are wonderful and very loving people. Anna took time to provide us good tips about where to go, how to take the bus or train if needed. Sergio provided many good tips in his e mails before we even left the states. I highly recommend this apartment. It had plenty of room for three people. It is right across from grand Hotel Minerva. I felt so good that I did not booked the hotel. This was more convenient and much less expensive. Rick Steves book about Florence provided very accurate infornation and many good tips about restaurants.

January in Florence

alex & john welshpool, wales
Review Submitted: February 18, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
We would agree with all in the other 2 reviews. 2 of us spent 6 nights here in January. The appt. is in a superb position - even though we generally avoid physical activity, we were able to walk easily to most of the attractions, and being only yards from bus stops and station, that covered the rest of the city and surroundings. The appt. itself is great - well furnished, nicely decorated, quiet and has everything you need for self catering (except a potato peeler but Anna Maria will have corrected that by now!). It's on the 2nd floor (but there's a lift), is great for people-watching and is reassuringly secure (3 keys needed).
We have already recommended it to friends and would love to return again ourselves.
(Warning - the delicious ice cream in the shop round the corner can seriously damage your figure and your wallet!)
Thanks again, Sergio and Anna Maria (and your daughter whose name we have unfortunately forgotten)

Beautiful apartment!

We have stayed at Sergio and AnnaMarias apartment 4 times now, it is an ideal base for spending time in Florence. Close to the Train Station, Central Market, Duomo and Galleries it is perfect.

Beautifully decorated and maintained the tripled glazed windows mean no sounds from the newly refurbished square outside penetrate the apartment, but somehow we still manage to hear the bells from the church in the morning!

We orginally chose this apartment because it had a kitchen, we had visited Florence twice before and had fallen in love with the market, but staying in B&B's meant that we couldn't cook all the lovely produce we saw every day. The apartment is well equiped with good quality knives and pans and plenty of crockery.

Sergio and AnnaMaria are a wonderful couple who take great care over the apartment and your stay. I originally travelled to Florence with my Mum who says she feels like the apartment is now home from home for us. I recently introduced my new partner who (thankfully) has also fallen in love with Florence so I see us booking Sergios apartment for many years to come.

Florence accommodation

RJLJT Kiama, NSW, Australia
Review Submitted: February 14, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
We stayed with our two daughters in this one bedroom apartment. Our daughters had two single beds in the bedroom and we slept on the very comfortable, and huge, sofa bed in the lounge area. The apartment is very clean and well cared for and very comfortable. The position is very close to the main train station while being in a popular square close to everything you may wish to visit. We walked everywhere from here and there were many good restaurants and cafes close by as well as the wonderful food and craft markets. The owner was available by phone should you need any help and was very obliging. We would recommend this apartment to anyone wishing a comfortable base close to all the attractions in Florence.

A recommendation:

Review Submitted: October 17, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
2 of us stayed here in the middle of September. The apartment is in an ideal location for the train and bus stations and this makes those day trips to Siena, Pisa and the hill top towns of Tuscany very easy.

Unlike some European Cities where the area around the stations can be disappointing and noisy this was very attractive and the rennovations in the square are nearly completed (the grass was about to be laid out or sown). They did not affect our stay in any adverse way, there was minimal noise and the Piazza will be even more beautiful once they are finished.

The accomodation was very comfortable and near to amenities such as supermarkets and the Mercato Centrale as well as to the sights of Florence, making it easy to go back for lunch if not eating out or needing a rest! Get some Tuscan recipes or even some from Florence (see the Florence tourist office web site).

The owners were very helpful and provide extensive information about Florence and Tuscany to help you plan your stay. The apartment was clean and tidy and well maintained.

All in all we would both happily recommend this rental.
