Beautiful House, Great Location!

guy888 London, UK
Review Submitted: August 3, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We really enjoyed our time in Lacanau and plan to definitely return.

The house is great - bright and roomy and very well equipped. We were a group of 6 adults and 5 children (aged 1 - 5) but never felt like we were tripping over one another. The kids particularly liked the downstairs playroom and stayed down there for hours to our delight obviously :-)

The view from the balcony is stunning and something you never tire of. We ate out there every day including quite a few barbeques.

The pool is also great and I think the fact that it is securely gated was my favourite feature. Being able to relax in the knowledge that the little darlings would have to find more creative ways to kill each other was very re-assuring.

We didn't really take full advantage of the activities on offer as we were happy to relax by the pool. The outings we had to the beach and the lake were really fun and the kids loved the pedalos with slides on the back. Highly recommend the food at Le Moutchico on the lake too.

All in all, a really nice house in a really beautiful location which we'd be happy to recommend to anyone.

Lacanau Unsurpassed

Review Submitted: August 6, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Upon arrival, the fence closed behind us automatically and we parked our car on the driveway in the secluded area surrounding the house. We were impressed by the looks of the well maintained house, the comfortable and inviting pool and the view on the lake in the distance. We immediately felt at home.

Chalet Rousseau offers a lot of comfort and the maintenance of the garden and pool is excellent. The kitchen is well equipped, the number of bath- and bedrooms is luxurious. We enjoyed James' personal touch in the house (books and paintings, etc.). If you do like to watch television/play DVDs during your holidays the Mezzanine upstairs offers the necessary comfort. The access to the internet is a must and is great. We were impressed by James' responsiveness and very much appreciated his interest in our welfare during our 2 week-stay.

In hindsight we can say this was THE best house we've occupied in the course of 20 years. We did like the house much better than the ones we occupied during the previous years in Eden Park, Green Park and some other places in the Lacanau area.

Lovely base of operations

SNOWJACK LONDON
Review Submitted: July 13, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We spent 2 great weeks in this large house with my parents, young daughter and various friends and relatives who popped in and out during the 2 weeks. We found it was a fantastic base of operations, whether attending a wedding in Margaux in the Medoc, visiting the beach at Lacanau-Ocean, shopping and tourist trips to Bordeaux or just popping down to the relaxing lake beach at Le Moutchic 5 mins away. Never mind that we spent many hours also around the fantastic pool.
The house was very well equipped and so we could have many BBQs at home with many great bottles of wine.
The owner was always contactable with any small issues that we may come across and was always very helpful.
It was a very child friendly house, as my 2 year old was always on the look out to evade all the kiddy gates, but was always thwarted. Massive sandpit and kids area on the lower floor.
All in all a great time had by all.

Home from Home - but warmer

Noog UK
Review Submitted: April 8, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
2009 will be our fourth visit to this fantastic holiday house. We are three families who have been holidaying together for over ten years (6 adults & 8 kids now aged 7-15) and this place has been a perfect location. Lazy days by the pool or more adventurous days sailing, cycling or horse-riding. There is something for everyone and the house itself is comfortable and roomy enough for 14 people to be together (or to find a quiet spot to be alone).
Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. Yes it will be 4 years this year! You know the place as well as we do:)

Wonderful holidays!

"We spent 2 very pleasant weeks in this large house with my 4 children and my friends' 2 children. We particularly enjoyed the fact that the place is quiet, that the house has a great view (pine trees around the house and view over the lake in the distance from the terrace), as well as being not far away from the beach (but the swimming pool is also great!).
In addition we found many activities, for whatever age the kids are.
Because the house is comfortable (bathrooms and kitchen very well equipped) we adapted without any problem since the first day and I was able to cook nearly like at home as there is everything you need.
I recommend this place."

Holidays at Lacanau Ocean

Review Submitted: February 7, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2008
The house is spacious, well equipped (nothing is missing), has lots of light (many large windows) and well decorated. We were 9 adults and 6 children staying there and we found that the house was perfect especially for the kids (play room, 4 bunk beds, baby cot).

The view over the forest and the lake is superb and we had lunches on the terrace overlooking such quiet surroundings. There are lots of possibilities for walking or cycling trips (forest and lake) and the area has many cyclable paths.

Lacanau Ocean is easily accessible by car and very nice. Walks and farniente by the ocean are just a few miles away.
To conclude we had a resting and diversified stay.

Our hollidays in this beautifull house were really fantastic. The place is beautifull and the view on the lake is splendid. The house is big, and very fonctionally, for big family, everything is ok, with bathrooms in each rooms and a special place downstairs for children.
I'm glad to have found my location in Lacanau.

We spent Chistmas with family, 14 people, it was just fantastic. The kids have their space in the basement with a room for playing. With the ping pong table outside we just did not see them. Rooms are simple but nice, all with bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped, the living room with the chimney is very spacy, nice terrace (must be fantastic in the summer) Very confortable and warm house.
The view is great with a good location not far from the lake and the ocean, very nice seaside station with golf course, biking, spa, casino...The country side is beautiful and peaceful.
I really recommend this house right on the top of a dune in the pinetree forest.
Very good for families or a gang of friends.

Probably the best house we've ever rented. A wonderful experience was had by all. The house is fully equipped, very clean. A beautiful setting, dinners in the evening on the terrace, views of the lake. The kids loved the swimming pool and their playroom. Great area for biking (numerous trails), walks to the lake and on the beach. Golfing is good also. Ocean is fabulous!!
The owners (who speak perfect English and French) are very helpful. They know all the best places to go.
Owner's Response: Sharing this magnificant undiscovered spot with others is such a pleasure for us. You are always welcome.
