Nice to stay in Villa Darby

We had an absolute wonderful two weeks vacation with our children their husbands and a little grand child. The house was perfect for us and we appreciated the spacious living room area, nicely furnitured, the three terrasses and the table tennis yard which we used for "tournaments". We made most of the cooking at home and you find whatever you want for cooking in the kitchen. The location of the house is nice and you have beautiful views on the mountains close by. The swimming pool area is protected from insight, spacious and with a lovely sun an sitting area. We the elderly followed the advice to take the car down the steep hill while the younger found it good for excercise. In the village then you find several beaches and good restaurants, cafés, internet cafés and wine cellars. It was sometimes very crowdy especially on market days, so you better walk into the village. We found out that Collioure was in a very fine wine district and Collioure itself has the small and rural size of a resort that we sought for. We can really recommend a stay in the Villa Darby.

The villa was absolutely lovely,it was so well equipped, beautifully furnished, clean and bright with wonderful views. Really friendly caretakers too! Although it is a steep walk to town, its easy enough to drive to the bottom of the hill. A car would be highly recommended anyway- due to the stunning surrounding areas to explore, from miles of sandy beaches to small rocky coves- ideal for snorkeling. The Villa provided such a nice space to relax, with the different terraces its great for a large group to be able to have their own/ enough space, instead of feeling crammed in together. I'd highly recommend this Villa and this area. Collioure (and surroundings) is our favourite holiday location in France. The trip on the tourist train from Collioure is definitely worth doing. A wonderful holiday had by all.

The perfect family holiday

Nat66 London
Review Submitted: July 8, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
I have never booked a Villa before and this year I wanted my parents to have a different experience to the usual resorts and hotels, this was a great start and the most relaxing family holiday ever. Everything was as expected and more.

The villa is very spacious, it has everything necessary to keep the family entertained and work free, from washing machine to board games! everything was very clean and well looked after.

The landlord has been very helpful from the beginning through to when we were leaving. There was a lot of information in the house about the local area and places to visit.

We drove from London to Collioure and it was definitely worth it, my parents decided to stay an extra week. I didn't know much about this part of France but it's absolutely great. We had a car so we drove to a lot of the near by towns and beaches. Collioure is beautiful during the night, very lively and romantic. The villa is up on the very top of a hill but the views are amazing form every part of the villa. The walk from the town centre to the villa is fairly easy and takes about 10-15 minutes.

I highly recommend the villa to to families and anyone looking for a chilled holiday.

Villa Darby

Everything was perfect with this property. One aspect did cause two people in our party a little problem and that was the daily climb up the hill to get tothe house. It was extremely steep and isn't suitable for the unfit holidaymaker or for certain shoes.

Family holiday 2008

Limehouse London, UK

We spent 2 weeks in the middle of the Collioure festival period at villa Darby in the summer of 2008. Our group made up of 2 families with kids ranging from aged 8 to 11yrs old.
Our experience was fantastic and we really enjoyed the space and felxibility that the property allowed us. The pool was great and the poolside fridge and bar space became of great use for the kids and the adults throughout the holiday.
The cleaner and the pool lady were really helpful with local knowledge and were more than happy to assist us with anything we needed. The property was extremely well equipped, infact I'd go as far to say that it's the best equipped villa we've ever rented in the UK or Europe to date. I would highly recommend the villa to friends however, due to the location of the villa being up a pretty steep hill, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with mobility issues. Infact one tip I have is that we used to take the car down to just off the main road approx 1/2mile from the villa and closer into the town to pick up the kids at the end of a hot hard day by the sea or shopping....it saves the moans of climbing back up to the villa at the end of the day.
We went along to the local bull fight one night and half of our party ended up having to leave after 5mins in....it really isn't for the faint hearted, be warned!
Best place for quick, easy family meals with a full french theme, inexpensive and great quality: Les Templiers right on the quay side as you enter Collioure.

Very nice house wich contains everything a family needs for a perfect holliday in Collioure. The house is as nice as the description and even contained more such as equiptment to use on the beach. It was well cleaned and everything was in order. The owner provided good information and had a local man to contact if there were any problems, wich there was not.
We have no problem with recomending this house to our friends.

We stayed in Villa Darby for 1 week this summer and had a marvellous time. We were 2 families with children aged between 7 and 14 years. The bedrooms were perfect for 4 adults and 4 children. The villa and the surroundings where spacious, modern, and well-equipped, I can highly recommend Villa Darby to other families with children. We all had a wonderful vacation.
