Incredible!

It is quite difficult to describe this beautiful and unique home - even the photos don't do it justice.
We were really hoping it would be lovely, but were simply blown away the minute we arrived. The location is perfect - secluded and silent. The gardens are beautifully kept and varied, the pool area being particularly stunning with the advantage of being away from the main house. The water was also perfect, no matter the weather and very clean. The lack of chlorine is always welcome and our 6 year old loved the pool.
The house itself is no doubt the best equipped we've stayed in and was absolutely spotless. Lovely lay out as well.
It's just one of those homes you can't get bored with. The house is unique and you'll have fun deciding where to eat your dinner each evening! Even the stars are worth mentioning on a perfectly dark night!
Perfect area to explore also - easy access to many surrounding sights. Little villages nearby as well as large supermarche not too far.
Most importantly, the welcome we received from the owners really made a difference and they were always available in case of any queries. But also very good at leaving you to it and not imposing at all.
Couldn't recommend it any more. In fact, we've already booked for next year - will no doubt be a difficult home to match!

Great house in quiet rural setting

Review Submitted: October 27, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We are a young couple from Portugal and we've rented this all house just for us in August 09. It's a wonderful house in a very quiet place. Nobody really bothers you. The swiming pool is great but with limeted space for chairs. At the pool sun sets early (around 5 o'clock in August) due to orientation. The water is not as hot as we had expected for a heated pool in August but nice enough for a good swimm (maybe around 26/27º according to my watch). Now for the good things! The house is great with lots of space and lots of places to have your meals, from the balcony in front or at the rear or even near the pool. The kitchen is fantastic and equiped with every thing you can imagine. Although rustic it's still modern. The living room is big, with lots of seating and very airy. You'll be sure to find a room and a bed that suits your mood. Not a problem for the tall people (like me, i'm 1,90m). In conclusion, this is a wonderful house for just standing at the pool reading a book or to walk in the tracks and paths around the place in a completely rural environment. The owners are nice and honest people not intrusive at all. We're already missing the peace and quiet... Oh and you'll have lots of historic little towns to see in a 30 km radius, some of them included in the most beautiful villages in France. Enjoy

Wonderful vacation

We were very happy with our choice. The description was very correct. The house is very cosy and well-appointed. Also it was very clean and well-maintained. Around the house is a wonderul garden with beautiful places to be. The heated pool leaves nothing to be desired. We would recommend this property to our best friends! Lostanges is a perfect place to discover the lovely area. There are a lot of attractions (old villages, castles, caverns, the botanical garden, dinosaur parc and so on) around. The owners provided us with a good costumer service an were very, very friendly. We would like to come back once again.

Relaxing in the Correze

Review Submitted: January 17, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
We liked it so much we bought it, well one near by! Peace, tranquility and sheep for neighbours. It was hard to see the wonderful countryside as it meant leaving the fabulous pool and pool kitchen behind for the day. Relaxing on the veranda at night, drinking wine, eating cheese and playing card games, wonderful! The home is a beautiful french experience. The kitchen is well equipped and is fun to cook in. Although a car is a must, the area has some wonderful villages, local markets and is accessable for important tourist sites in the Dordogne and Lot. Our girls loved canoeing on the Dordogne River and browsing the shops in the pretty village of Collonges la Rouge. We highly recommend a stay in this wonderful place. If you do book, please say hello to the sheep. They speak English! Bon vacances, Avril and Adrian UK.

Just perfect!

We had a lovely holiday at Chante Merle, and the owners were so helpful and friendly. If you want nightlife and hustle and bustle, this property is definitely not for you! Right in the heart of most spectacular countryside, it's an ideal getaway. The pool is lovely, but the path down to it is quite steep. We enjoyed a most relaxing holiday in a beautiful house.

Wonderful Stay

The house was super. Spacious, well equipped and cool - important given the temperature climbed to the late 30's. The swimming pool was much enjoyed and we made the most of the barbeque space to enjoy the long evenings fuelled by local Rose.
The surrounding countryside was beautiful, tranquil and wonderfully rural: the towns, including, Beaulieu rich in medieval history.
