We would go back to Nice and to La Bonne Vie

My son, husband and I were in Nice in June 2009 and stayed in La Bonne Vie apartment. Nice is a great place for a holiday because it has all the attractions of a city break (museums, galleries, good public transport, restaurants, shops etc) and it has its own character (interesting history, architecture and a lovely setting) and we found people friendly. It is also easily accessible to the airport and to other places of interest- both along the Cote d'Azur and inland to other places in Provence. Additionally, the weather and the coast mean you can swim in the sea and, if it’s your thing, sunbathe on the beach. The apartment is well situated with two supermarkets within 3 or 4 minutes walk, a market with fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese etc a similar distance away and the La Fagola Patisserie (be prepared to put on weight because their fresh croissants and baguettes, to say nothing of their pastries, are irresistible) just a few steps away at the corner of the road the apartment is situated. The Promenade des Anglais and beach is only 5 minutes walk and the centre and old town are within a pleasant 15 to 20 minutes stroll, either along the Promenade des Anglais with its attractive belle époque buildings and (pricey) open air restaurants and cafes or through streets lined with Neapolitan ice cream coloured buildings. If you take this route you can stop off for a rest and enjoy the beautiful vividyly coloured flowering plants in a little park on the Rue de la Buffa. The apartment is comfortable and because it's not in a purpose built holiday apartment building you feel you’re really in France. Moreover, staying in self-catering is so much more relaxing than a hotel. We enjoyed taking the open top bus tour (great views and a welcome cool breeze) up to Cimez, going to Cannes by train and visiting the Musee d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain and the Palias Massena (time your stay right and you can benefit from free entrance to the city's museums). One suggestion I would offer would be to take the bus from the airport rather than a taxi. The bus costs 4 euros whereas a taxi cost us 40 euros. It is a fairly short journey and there is a bus stop on the Promenade des Anglais close to the apartment – the stop is called Gambetta Promenade (have a look on google maps and print off directions and you’ll have little bother finding the apartment from the bus stop). We would go back to Nice and to La Bonne Vie!
