We stayed in Magenta apartment fro a week in July 2007 on a family trip to Europe. Florence was the highlight of our trip, and the apartment was a big part of making the trip a memorable one. It is located in a quiet area inside the city walls, near the Arno River. We walked to the apartment from the railway station (20 mins) and had no trouble getting in. It is clean, well equipped and furnished, and has the feel of a home rather than an institution.
Dealing with Paolo to make the reservation was very easy. We communicated by email, paid by Paypal and he mailed us the keys in plenty of time. The website was informative and described the apartment very clearly.
Florence was very hot when we were there, but the apartment was always cool, with its marble floors and high ceilings. The garden was a treat, and we enjoyed having meals and a glass or two of wine under the shade of the tree. We found that the small supermarket just around the corner was able to provide all our needs at prices that were a welcome surprise after Paris.
The whole of the old city was within walking distance of the apartment, and we enjoyed the week stolling around the city, visiting the museums and churches, exploring the shops and patronising the restaurants. Highlights for us included the Domo, Uffizi Museum, the Academica, the works of art in the squares and the shops on the Ponte Vecchia. We loved the atmosphere of the town. We were disappointed with the Boboli Gardens: entrance was expensive and the gardens looked run down.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the Magenta apartment, and Florence, and have no doubt that we will return to both.
