Our stay at Casa Emilia was from March to May 2009. It was a wonderful villa to call home on our travels. There is everything you would ever require there & provides you with your 'creature comforts' to enable you to relax and chill out for a wonderful stay. After a lovely welcome you will be able to enjoy the out BBQ area & the quiet and peaceul garden area, for a relaxing time taking in the sun near the big palm. The roof terrace gives you a wonderful view of the area. Look out for the goats! There are many places to visit locally. Castro Marim is a gem & has a great local atmosphere. There is a monthly market on every 2nd Saturday morning, the town comes alive, its fun! The CORVO supermarket can provide all your requirements, don't forget to have a coffee & toastie & pastel de natas @ the cafe counter, we went for breakfast most mornings. Shopping there is great for fruit & veg; the deli counter for Hams, chorizo & cheeses AND the fresh breads. If you are able to be in Castro Marim in August there is a fantastic annual event on the last week of the month when the whole of the town becomes, Medieval & the town's people, shops, castle & fort become History to be experienced! Foods, fair, demos, horses, & knights. The library in Castro Marim is a great place to hang out should you need internet, there are many pc's to use & the library is very interesting. Closed only on sundays. Don't forget that you are in beautiful countryside & there are loads of walks to experience, there is a great footpath book in Castro Marim Tourist info office available, also for the local train & bus times. A boat ride over the river from Vila Real S. Antonio to Ayamonte Spain can be fun & you can experience the fun of having tapas in town. Its a great area, one of the best for fish and seafood and the Prawns/Gambas are to die for!!! (A 2 centre holiday!) You are close to the sea which is only 5 mins in the car. Long sandy beaches. A panoramic restaurant @ Praia Verde sets the relaxing theme, but many local fish places along the coast should not be missed. A new mall is being completed in Tavira & should be open this summer for the cinema & shopping! Tavira a great town for a day out, take a walk up to the castle for the view! Cabanas beach for a unique experience, catch a ferry across the waterway to get to the beach! Lots to do and see AND the villa was just marvellous. A credit to the owners.
