Last weekend Friends and I had the true pleasure of staying in Barqua's Woodstock House. Wow! It was incredible! We never imagined how beautiful the house could really be and what a wonderful weekend was in store for us. As we drove up to the cabin it was immediatly clear what a special weekend we were in for. Our easy, under 2 hour from New York City Drive ended when we saw the giant Easter Island Moi and the top of the driveway. Then the house came into view. Woah, it was twice the size we were expecting and the lighthouse tower was something out of a CS Lewis Novel! We brought our bags inside turned on the lights and were blown away again at the magnificent decoration, and great floor plan. It was a delight to explore the house; the spacious downstairs, elegant kitchen, comfortable living room, and beautiful warm solarium (perfect for breakfasts), upstairs was all deliciously carpeted in lush shaggy carpets with huge, extremely comfortable beds. My favorites were the oriental style day-bed and the king-bed with the mirrored headboard next to the windowed ledge. The master bathroom upstairs was ideal for relaxing at the top of the day and unwinding in the evening. The Jacuzzi jets in the tub coupled with the gorgeous views of the mountains were awesome. We were also totally delighted with the tower! The staircase circling the tower was too cool, so novel, i've never seen anything like it. The tower is crowned with windows for light and views and then has a full deck perfect for reading, taking pictures or watching the sunset.
And I have to mention the hot-tub. The weekend we stayed was cold and snowy...perfect hot-tub weather. A short dash from the front door was the tub perfectly ready upon arrival at a wonderful 104 degrees!
During the days we played games, wandered historical and wacky woodstock, and enjoyed the company of our friends. At night we cooked lavish dinners and stayed up till dawn completely comfortable and relishing the quiet absence of the roar of the city.
Thanks so much Barqua and especially Ella and Cree. The house was beyond belief, and we had a weekend that will be tough to beat. Thanks for being perfectly accomadating and for being wonderful hosts, the rental process couldn't have been easier or more pleasant.
