el Higueron apartment review

Review Submitted: June 29, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2007
We have stayed in this apartment twice and are returning for a third time in July (what more recommendation do you need?). The apartment is spacious and luxurious and benefits from having its own private garden and direct access to the large (often empty) swimming pool. It is located in a peaceful and tranquil setting, but by car many attractions are within easy reach. The best of both worlds. It is perfect for children, our daughter is five now, and has enjoyed each holiday there immensely. The owners are very friendly and ensure that you are fully informed with all information when booking and that all essentials are in the apartment upon arrival. Finally there is an English manager on site which is very useful.
Owner's Response: We are always pleased to see guests return and although we cannot meet many guests personally Dave and Jean our property managers keep us fully informed at all times. The complex is getting better with each year that passes and I am sure guests returning will find a home from home for their stay.

Relax in comfort

We have just returned from an extremely relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable week this apartment.
The apartment has all the comforts of home and benefits from being at ground level . I can't find fault with the cleanliness. We ate all our meals on the decking area overlooking the beautiful pool and landscaped
gardens.
The spa area is magnificent and is well worth a visit.
A well stocked supermarket and a wonderful Indian restaurant are at the entrance of the complex.
I would thoroughly recommend this apartment to my friends and we would certainly return.

El Higueron Country Club Appt

Review Submitted: September 10, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This was our first holiday in spain and although excited by the thoughts two weeks of warm sunshine and lazy family days by the pool we were still a little apprehensive of what we would find.Thoughts of tall high rise appts, crowded beaches and noise didn`t appeal. The flight was little over 2 hrs and out of the planes window the ground turned from green through to yellows and orange the further the plane flew south. The children enjoyed the large loop the plane did over the blue, blue sea on landing. We were speedily through the airport and with carhire soon sorted too we were on our way to the El Higueron Country Club.the autovia was busy but within 20 minutes we were off and gently winding our way over speedhumps past brightly coloured houses down to the appt. The sea was glinting in the bright sun in the distance.Dave was there to greet us and show us around.[A true caring man and always cheerful].We had seen the photos on the internet but the interior was much more spacious than we had imagined. The master bedroom was enormous and the beds were all very comfortable. The bathrooms were huge and the showers really powerful. The kitchen, although small, had dishwasher and big fridge freezer. The airconditioning meant we could escape the heat and sleep peacefully at night.Double patiodoors led onto a decking area and then onto a pretty spacious lawn which then overlooked the enormous pool. The view from the appt was of a mountain so you really were not overlooked. From the pools deepend you could glimpse the sea.The grounds really were impressive;another pool[more shaded]and a wildlife pond with fountain and a frog chorus at night. We spent days in the pool and never found it busy infact we orten had it to ourselves. We loved exploring and visited Mijas [only 7 mins by car]often. The views, bullring, childrens playpark, donkeys and the range of places to eat out made it a real hit with us all.Further afield was Ronda,a hairraising mountain climb but so worth it.El chorro gorge and the lakes-an hour on a peddalo a real must.Closer to the appt was Benalmadena and its beaches our favourite Saint Ana.The Park with its free roaming chickens was a hit with the children who also liked the giant bike that we peddaled around on.Benalmadena Pueblo was going through a `makeover`but the cobbles streets were bustling and had plenty of good places to eat.We all thoroughly loved our first little taster of spain and would love to return again next year.

Ground Floor apartment in El Higueron Country Club

Our first trip to the area and initially we were disappointed that it was not closer to the sea but after a few days we realized it was an ideal location. A car is a must and this building had covered parking which is a plus with 35+ degree temp each day we were there. Apt is compact but very clean and is ideal for using the large pool. There is an unfinished road leading to the local Benalmadena beach. Close to a supermarket and quaint village. Get directions in advance of arriving as we did not have them and got lost. Now know the difference between Peublo and Costa.

Wonderful swimming pool, Gibraltar and Ronda!

Review Submitted: June 10, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We stayed for one week in May and enjoyed our stay very much. The apartment is nice and the small garden with pool view is perfect for some rest while keeping an eye on the children (good at swimming) in the pool. You need a car to find restaurants (Fuengirola, Mijas) and we recommend taking a trip to the old town Ronda in the mountains north of Marbella and to Gibraltar, where you can see the famous apes and a spectacular cave. If we choose Costa del Sol next time we would be happy to stay in the same apartment!

Great Location - But a car is vital.

The apartment came with everything one would want supplied, and matched everything in the description. It was useful to have access to the garage and not have to leave the car out in the sun.
The pool and gardens were well maintained and very inviting.
We did not use the on site Club facilities so cannot comment on them.
Visits to Mijas, Fuengirola, Benalmadena Peublo / Port were so very easy with the major road access adjacent to the complex.
The local supermarket is well stocked but again the car is needed unless you enjoy lots of hill walks!
Gibraltar is worth a trip - only about an hour using the toll road.
A pity that the road access to the beach - all downhill, hasn't yet been completed, but the close proximity of Fuengirola & Benalmadena Marina beaches compensates for this.
A very good holiday location.
Owner's Response: We agree with the positive comments and when the road to the beach is completed fully ,hopefully for the coming season it will make an excellent location even better.

A Great Place to Stay in Spain

Review Submitted: August 5, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
The property was great....very clean and well proportioned. Good views of the pool which was itself excellent. Very safe, quiet, family atmosphere. Everyone very friendly. No late night rowdy parties. You do need a car `though as the hill up to the shops and down to the beach are very steep....indeed would not recommend walking to the beach unless you are fit or need to work on your thigh muscles! Area very nice. Lots of really nice restaurants locally and good golf facilities. Malaga and Marbella very close and you can do easy day trips to Gibralta and the Al Hambra. Would recommend the resort/apartment to families or those seeking a quiet holiday. Fiona from Derby.
Owner's Response: Thanks Fiona we agree with your positive comments. Our apartment is peaceful with lots to explore particularly if you hire a car

We all had a lovely holiday at this complex. It is located in a very scenic location with stunning views from the apartment and pool, the children had lots of fun in the pool until 9p.m. some evenings as the weather was glorious the week we were there. We tried the restaurants recommended to us by the owners in the local village and the food was excellent, could not be faulted.Lots to do in main resort of Benalmadena children enjoyed themselves there ,good rail and train routes ,resort manager very helpful with transfers and local taxi service used as well to get around but would hire a car next time as steep walk up hill. The property was very clean and grounds well managed will definetely return and hope the sun shines again, many thanks .
Owner's Response: Thanks for the positive review. I would agree that a car is better to explore the locality properly. The location is we believe excellent and we congratulate the gardening staff for keeping the gardens in excellent condition all year

Superb!

I have visited this property no less than 3 times (Dec '06, Feb '07 & Oct '07) and am looking to visit again. The property itself is very well equipped with everything you could need (much better than your average self catering accommodation). The position of the apartment is ideal as it is right opposite the pool and benefits from a large decking area. The pool is always very quiet and feels more like a private as opposed to a communal pool (due to the warm climate we swam everyday in October!). The grounds the apartment are set in are beautiful. The apartment is in a quiet location which is great for relaxing but is still within easy reach of the picturesque mountain village of mijas and evenings out in Fuengirola and Benalmadena Pueblo/Puerto. The local markets are also well worth a visit. Overall, a lovely place!
Owner's Response: Thanks Lucy your review highlights the positive aspects of our apartment being peaceful but also easy to access local attractions.Like you we love the pool which is quiet most of the time and only gets busy in August. We like to sit overlooking the pool which feels like our own when it is empty. We have furnished it to what we also feel is a high standard and really appreciate the care that guests take when staying.

Best Holiday!

Review Submitted: June 11, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
Me, my partner & our friends stopped here for 1 week and absolutely loved it. Even though there is steep hills up to the main road & supermarket, the property manager was always there to help. The apartment is self could not be faulted in anyway, it was clean & full of all the essentials that you need on holiday, especially the pool which was fantastic for both adults to laze around in and for children. The location of the apartment was out of town, but this didnt bother us as we spent out night time in the town anyway. The owners of the property were very friendly & extremely helpful when we were booking. I would definitely recommend the property to a friend and I am looking at going back within the near future myself. All round great holiday! Kelly from the UK.
Owner's Response: we also agree our apartment situation is ideal being away from the hustle and bustle but near enough for a fun night out after a day relaxing by the pool.
