A villa in Lucca that felt just like home.

Review Submitted: November 16, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009
As soon as we walked in the door if felt warm, cosy and inviting; it was as if we has arrived home!

There was fresh bread, coffee, milk and all the essentials ready and waiting. All we had to do was sit down and enjoy them.

The villa is in a great location just five minutes walk form the town centre, and two minute walk form the station. We did not have enough time to take advantage of all Lucca had to offer, despite this our time there was memmerable.

Alhough we had only just met Lella, the owner, we felt as if we had known her for years. Her warmth, friendliness and generous hospitlity makes us want to return soon.

Apartment would accommodate 4 people, but there is only 1 bathroom. Better for family with kids. We were only 2. Easy walk to walled city, good parking for vehicle, and close to shopping and highway access.

Beautifully clean, with everything you could need for a relaxing stay just a few minutes from the historic centre of Lucca. And the train station is also only a few minutes' walk, giving easy access to Florence and Pisa. Lella's hospitality is fantastic...she could not have been more helpful and her English is excellent so there were no communication problems. We will definitely recommend this apartment to our friends and we'll be back ourselves as soon as possible!

We spent a very week in Gli Archi. We found it very clean and comfortable and a great base for exploring Lucca and the surrounding area. The train station is only a short walk away and has very regular connections. Enjoy your stay :-)

Gli Archi July 2009

Review Submitted: July 28, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
My wife and I plus our 3 young kids had a wonderful stay at Gli Archi in Lucca. The apartment was well equiped, bedrooms comfortable - main bedroom has an extra single bed which was great for our young daughter, kitchen great etc. Short walk to station and with a car short drive to the autostrada for venturing further. Lucca itself is also a gem of a place and a must for Tuscany - the walls unique and great to hire a bike and ride safely on the walls.

We enjoyed a wonderful break in Lucca and 'Gli Archi' was as Lella said a 10 minute stroll from the historic walled city and even closer to the railway station which provided frequent links to a variety of other destinations. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and the garden was a great place to relax after a day in the city with a bottle of wine and a pizza from the nearby pizzeria. Lucca was a beautiful city free from the hordes of foreign tourists one finds elsewhere in Tuscany and we would certainly recommend Gli Archi for anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing break in this area.

Gli Archi, Lucca

Gli Archi was a wonderful little apartment located just a 10 minute easy walk to the walls of central Lucca. The two bedrooms were perfect for us and the kitchen included a washing machine. We enjoyed hanging our clothes out to dry in the backyard. After a day of walking in the city we would return to the apartment for a late afternoon rest before going out for dinner. We enjoyed breakfast in the kitchen and made snacks to take when we traveled by train to other Tuscany towns. There is a little grocery store a block away as well as a bakery that sold bread and pizza. Donatella was a great host and we would recommend Gli Archi for 2-4 people who are looking for a comfortable simple home away from home.

Our stay in Lucca

Our family had a fabulous visit to Lucca and TuscanyThe "Gli
Archi" was a perfect place for our needs. It was clean and spacious. It was
also centrally located for our journeys to Lucca, the Cinque Terre, and
Florence. We enjoyed the biking, shopping, and restaurants in Lucca, the
spectacular scenery, hiking, and swimming in the Cinque Terre, and the art and
achitecture in Florence. The apartment was a restful and comfortable place to return after our busy days. Lella was a gracious and helpful host. I
accidentally left two jackets in the apartment after our stay, and she mailed
them back to me at my home! We have wonderful memories of our stay at the "Gli
Archi".

We had a great time in Lucca and the apartment was ideal for us. It was neat and tidy, clean, and comfortable. The local butcher/grocer was really nice and helpful. Nearby are some handy amenities such as pizza bar, newsagent, post office, and the supermarket is easily accessable. We found local places to eat which were far cheaper than always eating within the walled city. Overall we had a great holiday and look forward to returning.

Our First Italian Vacation

Review Submitted: April 23, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
I cannot praise Lella, or her property enough. The apartment more then lived up to expectations. It had been described acurately on the website and the photographs displayed were also spot on. The location for anyone such as ourselves who didn't want to hire a car was perfect. Lella said it was an 8 minute walk from the train station and it was, even with our 4 year old in tow! The apartment provided a comprehensive range of items from crockery and utensils through to linen and towel changes. There was an explosion of phamplets and guidebooks to assist us in were to visit etc. Lella was only ever at the end of the phone if we needed her for anything, in fact she arranged for our return trip to the airport at 4.15am. Lucca itself is beautiful and we could have happily spent each day just within the town. Each cobbled street opens up into another piazza you didn't see the day before. As the centre is car free it was wonderful for our children, the could round around anywhere they wished to. Sundays in the Piazza Sn Michelle were especially good for the children, with a merry go round and stalls selling scumptious foodstuffs. They piazza was full of young families, it was loveley. Along the castle walls there were at lease three playparks, all in excellent condition and very well equipped. In fact they put ours to shame. I could go on and on forever. Our many many thanks to Lella for all of her help and letting us stay at her wonderful apartment. Perfect.
