Great place to stay

Black Cat 1 Sunderland UK
Review Submitted: September 29, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Stayed for 10 days in September 2009. Apartment was decorated/furnished to a high standard and complimented with all you need for a s/c holiday. The rooftop solarium was an added bonus for privacy when required and the kids loved the large pool.

The hill was no problem, and we quite enjoyed the 10-15 minute walk back to the apartment from the beach/main resort (although it's not advisable when the sun is at its hottest!).

I'd thoroughly recommend this apartment for a nice relaxing holiday, and we will be going back ourselves in the future.

We were here in july 2009. The appartment wasn´t as good as it was decribed to us, it was even a 1000 times better. we have had a wonderful roof garden, the way to the pool, the beach or to the city was very easy to find. The appartment is big and light, the sight was amazing. We have had very nice days here.

Lovely holiday

Review Submitted: June 23, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We had a lovely week at the appartment in june 2009. Everything was as told and we enjoyed our privacy and peace. The appartment was very tidy and cosy. The pool area was beautiful and peaceful. Only minus was the uphill, especially at 35 degrees of celsius! But we were aware of that, and it was quite cheap to take a taxi when we weren´t able to climb! The owner and his property manager were very kind and helpful, and we just might return there someday!

The photos did not tell all! Arriving late at night: big flat with large balcony (with eating table) , separate large roof terrace size of the flat (with a grill), view to mountains on the other side and sea on the other, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, large living room and a cozy kitchen. Wonderful manager, who helped us with all questions during our stay, even lending tennis rackets (two tennis courts available) for free! Nice clean swimming pool for adults, separate one for babies.(Very easy access:lift down and through the garage). The apartment is only a walk away from the seaside. Ideal if one rents a car. ( private parking in the cellar and a lift up straight to your room.) Very clean, good TV, very good beds, beautiful surroundings, quiet. Only minus was the opening hours of the pool, but that will propably change during summer? We had the most wonderful time! Do visit Gibraltar!
Signed by two almost 50 yrs adults and two teenagers (18) from Finland. You cannot miss this!

No problems at all apart from kids not wanting to go home!! ;-) A relaxing holiday and the fact that you cannot hear thumping music all night just made it for us!! that was the plus of being slightly away from pubs and clubs brilliant xx

I have just retuned from a holiday here, very high standard of fittings, lovely size bedrooms, beautifull bathrooms, and a very functional balcony with a big table (lovely for alfresco meals)
The area hosted lots of great attractions and the Zoo was a great day out for the whole family.
We decided to stay in private accomodation as the kids get to have more security this way, all in all a very memerable holiday 10/10

My Experience!

Review Submitted: March 25, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2008
My stay at this penthouse was during june 2008, and after just contacing the owner now to rebook for this year i noticed the poor reviews it was given and felt i had to say my self and my wife had a lovely holiday.
Yes it is up a hill but the walk actually enhanced our evenings out and it was nice not to drive everywhere!
During our time there we had fresh laundry delivered by the cleaner which was pleasently recieved.
I have no concerns and will be returning to this accomodation in fact i find the owner very helpful indeed.

Not as advertised

Family from Bucks High Wycombe. Bucks
Review Submitted: March 13, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
We stayed here last August after discussing with the owner the location and suitability. I was so disappointed the location is not convenient for anything. The Monte Canada complex is up a very steep hill and more than a difficult 10/15 minute walk to the beach, and closest supermarket! I was told these were easily accessible and a car would not be necessary. Whilst the inside of the apartment is pleasant I do not understand why it is listed as luxurious. The outside furniture on the terrace was stained and the roof terrace table broken beyond use, the sun beds dirty, old and did not have sun bed cushions but chair cushions. I spent a small fortune telephoning the owners to get various things sorted i.e. an umbrella on the terrace, a table cover for the outside table. He would not replace any of the roof terrace furniture and when he did eventually return phone calls was unhelpful and treated me as if raising a complaint was a personal attack on him and as he put it ‘his family home’. There are not any instructions in the apartment on how to gain access to the pool, which is through the basement garage; the obvious route is through a locked gate for which a key is not provided. The swimming pool needs to have a lifeguard which therefore limits the time the pool is open. The poor description, facilities and location spoilt my holiday – Please be aware.

I have to admit after reading the other review for this accomodation i was slightly nervous! but after much reasurence from the owner i did take my family there, and.... i was not dissapointed at all, i too have young children and couldn't for the life of me understand any of the other reviews concerns. as with any apartment that is on the top floor with a balcony and children you did need to be aware but having stayed in numerous hotels this was a regular height balcony! the lift was a lovely size and very usefull indeed and the furnishing and fittings were to a lovely standard in great condition. All linen was freshly laundered and... there was a washing machine so no dirty washing when i got home!! great. i thank the owner for putting my mind at rest and would love to return to this area again.

Not Suitable For Young Children Or Older People

LMP BELFAST
Review Submitted: August 21, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Appartment was at the top of a very very steep hill (mountain) not close to beach or supermarket - you need a car if you are going to stay here.we had to leave on day 1 and pay to stay somewhere closer to beach and shop as we had 3 young kids and were told by the owner that this appartment was suitalble for kids, this was untrue as the balcony is very low and therfore dangerous - too low for children. No air conditioning. Hard to find. Not easy to get to with pram or wheel chair. We will not go back as it is too out of the way - it is at the top of a mountain which takes about 30 minutes to walk up and the nearest shop is a the bottom of the mountain. I would not recommend staying here if you have young children or are elderley as you do need a car. When we booked we explained to the owner that we had 3 young kids and a double pram and he reassured us that his appartment was suitable - the taxi couldnt even find the place. This appartment was the only available at that time of year and now i know why. The descrtiption is wrong - it is not a convenient location. I have tried to contact the owner since returning from this holiday and he will not reply to me - the appartment seems to be available during high season which is probably due to the location.
