Quiet location in best area

Everything is this modern apartment made our week in Kyoto perfect. Booking, check-in, and all instructions were clear and easy. We used Yakusa Taxi from airport to get there with no trouble, return on the express train was easy and fast. We loved the electronic appliances and all the English labels made them easy to operate. My husband could sleep in while I got up and closed doors to sleeping area, made coffee ( I brought my own "Peets" ground coffee), and used the high speed internet.
Nearby convenience stores, supermarket & fruit markets got us set up for the week quickly. 7-11 (3 min walk on) has an international ATM for cash. Some of the nicest temples and shrines are walking distance & nearby bus/subway routes got us everywhere. For walkers or runners the river trail is few blocks away, migrating birds there ,too. This location is perfect for just strolling the old streets, viewing a geisha and experiencing the magic of Kyoto. I would love to stay again and would recommend this apartment highly.

Nice n comfortable

We were there with our 9 months old, so we needed a service apartment with a microwave oven n cooking facilities. This apartment has it all and it is nice and comfortable. 7-11 is 5 mins walk while Lawson is 10 (just above e train station). We had some difficulties locating it when we got to Kyoto and it did not have any bus stop along Gojo-Dori making it relatively difficult to move around unless you decide to walk. It's 20 mins walk to Gion n we were lucky to catch the sight of some Geisha.

The Magic of Kyoto

Review Submitted: August 14, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
The apartment is small by western standards, but fine for Japan. The shower and washing machine were easy to use and efficient. The arrangements for entry on arrival, which involved no human intervention, worried us but worked perfectly. The location is ideal, very close to Gion, the geisha district, with its unique atmosphere, as well as to many temples and other sights. There are plenty of reasonably-priced restaurants, convenience stores and souvenir shops in the neighbourhood too.

Gion Kyoto

We had a fabulous stay overall in Japan. Our stay in Kyoto was comfortable and we found the location very convenient for visiting all the sites. Many sites were easily reached within walking distance. Buses were close by so getting around was a breeze.
The binder with useful information (esp. the location of the grocery store, suggested walking tours, bus routes) was very much appreciated. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well.

Booking the apartment, checking in and out were all done with ease.

The owner even assited us in booking for reserved visit to the moss garden!

A delightful stay! We highly recommend this apartment.

comfortable and easy property to rent

Review Submitted: August 11, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
I rented two apartments which were next to each other. Contact with the owners was immediate and effortless. Each apartment fits two (twin beds) but any more than an additional toddler would make them cramped. They were clean and well equipped with excellent shower/bath and laundry facilities. Compared with hotels they are excellent value for money (two aparments held 4 adults and was equivalent to one person at a 4* hotel for the week!), and the location was great, away from the main tourist drag at the base of the Gion district, but easy to walk into the main area (15 mins). I recommend renting the bikes as well! Thoughtful provision of notes (e.g., nearest supermarkets).

Very Pleasant Stay

We stayed recently at this lovely flat for 2 weeks (myself, my wife and 1 year old baby). we were impressed by how clean the flat was (wife is very fussy about hygiene). The flat is located within walking distance to Gion (about 5-7 minutes). It is about 20 meters away from the main road. The train station is <5 minutes away and the bus stop is about 5-7 minutes away. There were several convenience stores and a Food Mart nearby. We felt that the area was very safe

The kitchen had all necessary utensils. The flat was also well stocked with toilet paper, washing powder, washing up liquid.... they also had maps and local guides, which was very nice.

If we visit Kyoto again we would definitely stay at the same flat again, and I would certainly recommend it to friends and family members.

What a pleasant surprise!

Review Submitted: August 4, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We organised our accommodation last minute and were pleasantly surprised that we ended up with such an accessible, serviced apartment to stay in. Location was fantastic - close walking distance to all the major attractions, booking was made very easy thanks to attentive staff over the email and the apartment was attractive and well presented. Didn't get round to it, but would definitely take up the offer to hire a bike nex time which can be organised as part of the booking - all the tourist sites would be so quickly accessible with a bike and lovely path by the river and streets to ride along.

Well located and equipped

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment. It had everything we needed and is well located walking distance for the main tourist sites, downtown, Gion, and to get to and from the station - a few stops on the bus. Our only criticism is that the beds are rather hard!

Cute and convenient

What an adorable and handy apartment! We traveled with another couple and rented two apartments in the building, which worked out very well. We each had a little sitting area to visit or have breakfast with one another, then everyone had privacy in the evenings and his/her own bathroom. Having a washer-dryer meant we could pack light - a godsend with a lot of train travel.

The Keihan train station is only a few blocks away, which made a day-trip to Fushimi Inari Shrine very easy and inexpensive, which was also true of getting to Nara or Osaka. It was great to have a home base and not have to unpack and move so often.

Loved it - will use HomeAway again for our next trip!
