We stayed at the pelican's next last year and had a wonderful time!! Everything was as it says in the brochour.. and peggy was such a great person to talk to .. my children wanted to return this year but if it was available, "we would stayed there again",, the hot tub was such a pleasure and the street is very peaceful, so i would recommend it to anyone if you want an affordable yet wonderful vacation house!!!

Owner's Response: I have been renting out The Pelican's Nest for a year now, and have met so many wonderful people, with many wanting to return. To avoid turning anyone away, it's so important to book as far in advance as possible...I dread having to respond with "I'm sorry...The Pelican's Nest is already taken for that week..." Peggy

WOW! The Pelican’s Nest is as wonderful as it looks. The home has been beautifully renovated and Ms. Peggy has thought of all the necessities. The backyard is a private oasis to read, soak in the Jacuzzi or have a peaceful snooze. Don’t pass up the opportunity to take an outdoor shower, there’s nothing like it. The Atlantic is a short walk from this private home and the beach along this area is beautiful and not very crowded. It’s a short distance to travel to stores and the supermarket. There are plenty of activities in the area to make a fun filled vacation and the Pelican’s Nest is the perfect place to come back to for a little R & R. My family and I had a wonderful vacation and we are sure to be back soon!

Our two weeks at the Pelican's Nest were great! There were eight of us from ages three to seventy-nine. The house was immaculate-even the shed was very clean! The landscaping was awesome-espcially the back yard. That's where we spent most of our time when we were at the house. Peggy went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. She was very informative about the area. We took several day trips but we also spent a lot of time checking out the local shops & restaurants. The beach was never crowded and we walked to it almost every day. I would recommend the Pelican's Nest to anyone who wants a clean roomy house in a good location at a reasonable rate. We will go back one day!

We had a great time here in April "09". Peggy was so nice and helpful. The place had everything we needed. We enjoyed the hot tub at night and it was so quiet. We went to Orlando one day and St. Augustine twice. Went to some great Seafood Restuarants!! High Tides was so much fun. Our dogs had a great time and saw the beach for the first time and loved going for walks all over the place. The boys even got to fish one day! There is so much to do. Loved the outdoor shower for the kids. We really enjoyed our stay!

PELICAN'S NEST IS AN A-1 VACATION HOME

My husband, daughter, granddaughter, and I stayed at the Pelican's Nest in April 2009. We couldn't have asked for a better place! The house was very clean and pet friendly, which was a plus. The backyard is like a tropical paradise. The only thing that we needed to make this vacation complete was a trip to the grocery store. Everything else was provided!! The beach is within walking distance as well as Alfie's, a local favorite restaurant. Flip Flops, a ice cream parlor, Dollar General, Publix Grocery Store, many gas stations, and many other small stores are a few blocks down the road on A-1-A.
The owners made a special stop over to make sure that we had everything that we needed for our stay.
As long as this house is available for us to rent, we will rent it for the years to come. Considering we have been travelling to this area since 1991 and now that family has moved here, The Pelican's Nest is an ideal vacation home!

The Pelican's Nest - March 2009

We rented the Pelicans Nest for a March Break holiday for our family. Peggy was great, well organized and efficient. The house was perfect for us and our three teenagers. Plenty of room, clean comfortable and the terrific secluded oasis of a back yard was a nice bonus. The outdoor shower and hot tub were big hits with everyone. The neighbourhood was quiet and everyone was friendly. The short walk to the beach was nice. The beach was clean and never crowded. All the necessities are close by including a great surfing shop that we took lessons from, Surfari. A short walk the other direction led to the intercoastal waterway and a great spot to watch the sunset.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The house is so cute and CLEAN! The backyard is to die for and is totally private. Along with the short walk to the beach, we also enjoyed the hot tub. We were totally relaxed and felt at home. We will definitely come back!

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!

This house is gorgeous! Although the pictures are nice, they do not do it justice! It was hard to come home after staying in such a nice, peaceful place. Definitely enough room for a big group, but also a nice, secluded place for a quiet retreat! I loved the location because we were able to spend all day in the nearby cities but relax in a quiet setting in the evening.

Great house, location, hospitality!

Review Submitted: March 19, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
My husband and I stayed at the Pelican's Nest last week and had a great time. Everything is truly "as advertised", and Peggy's hospitality is exceptional. Our trip was last minute, and not as well planned as usual, but the organized shed has beach chairs, a wagon, umbrella, sand toys, grill, and more!
To find a fully fenced back yard with beautiful landscaping and nicely shaded was a special treat we enjoyed with our dog. It would be very secure for small children as well. It's also quite private for enjoying the hot tub or a glass of wine on the patio.
The house is in a quiet neighborhood, half way between the Halifax River and the beach. A short walk to either one. It was quiet except for... the ice cream truck! :)
Everything was clean and the kitchen was well equipped, ranking high compared to other houses we've rented. The house is recently renovated, and in great condition.
We tried a couple local restaurants as recommended in the very informative binder Peggy provides, and we were very pleased with both. High Tides is especially fun!
Peggy also recommended a dog-friendly beach just 5 miles away - another really pleasant surprise!
Starbucks, Panera and a library are each about 3 miles away for your wireless addiction, if you just can't unplug. Also Publix grocery and Walgreen's available downtown, about a mile away.
We can happily recommend this house.
