We have just got back from the most perfect weekend at Alphaven in Engelberg. The property was of the highest specification of any I have ever had the pleasure to stay in, with picture postcard views and every home comfort you can think of, right down to SKY TV...so no need to miss you favourite TV shows! Absolutely perfect! We were also there for the first snow fall of the season, which made the weekend even more special. Definitely heading back there soon! Thanks again John & Ursula!

We were searching the internet in Sept 2008 for places to stay in Switzerland (quite a large search area I admit) when we came across ‘Alphaven’.
We tend to be somewhat sceptical when we find something that looks absolutely perfect as pictures can sometimes be very deceiving. Our scepticism was quashed when we spoke to John & Ursula (owners of Alphaven) – they were excellent – answering all of our questions quickly – nothing was too much trouble.

We arrived at Engelberg in April 2009 to find temperatures touching 20 Deg C, hardly a cloud in sight with 12” of snow covering rooftops and the ground (apart from the roads that were clear). In reaching our destination - ‘Alphaven’, we found that it far exceeded our expectations!

We found that Alphaven was the perfect base to visit so many outstanding places – Titlis, Grindelwald, The Eiger, Jungfaujoch, Luzerne, Pilatus, Rigi the list goes on.

The holiday has been one that we will always remember- great apartment, great view, great weather, great location and excellent hosts.

Alphaven was the perfect holiday apartment for our family. We rented 2 of the apartments in John and Ursula's chalet because we had 7 people. Everyone was thrilled with their accomodations--the kids especially liked the loft! My favorite thing was to wake up in the morning, with windows open (no mosquitos!!) and listen to the sound of the bells on the cattle up on the distant mountains. The kitchen facilities in both apartments were well equipped and immaculate... we ate in from time to time- getting our ingredients at the co-op. We were surprised at how wonderful the food was at the restaurants, though. Outstanding! We were there for 2 weeks and never ran out of adventurous things to do in Engelberg... Our favorites: Trotti bikes (although Grandma did fall off... scrapes and bruises only) hiking on level 2 of TITLIS side of mountain, sledding at the top of TITLIS, biking on the trails and streets, discovering waterfalls, taking photos of local historical architecture, horse and carriage ride, and fun shopping! We had the best vacation ever in Engelberg at Alphaven. My husband and I now want to retire there (well, in about 20 years.)

If dreams where dreams and they came true ,

As you can tell poetry is not my forte but i have not the words to express how breathtakingly beautiful this place is, it is truly heaven on earth.
The images displayed on the website, despite how beautiful they are, they do not give it justice.
Initially when coming across the chalet pictures i was truly blown away, however pictures can be deceiving and i was not expecting something as spectacular, however it surely did surpass my expectations. I was literally jumping for joy as it was WOOW, but if you think the chalet was amazing you should have seen my reaction in the morning when my eyes witnessed the view , the sky was purple as the sun was rising for the purpose of creating a new day.
I organised this trip for myself and 17 other friends so hired out chalet a,b,c, and honestly speaking it was one of the best experiences of our life.
John and Ursula were so accommodating, thank you for making us feel at home. We cannot express in words the gratitude we have for all your help. We will definitely be returning one day .
All in all this chalet is nothing less than perfect, the intricate detail in creating this master piece speak for itself.
Thankyou once again John and Ursula , there is not even an element i can fault you on , the chalet did not have a single flaw, nor did you fail to disappoint us. You were the perfect host and we appreciate the endless help you provided in making this holiday special for us.
We will definitely return one day.

What a truly wonderful apartment, the description just does not do it justice!! after driving up from the town and opening the door to the apartment the whole town of Engelberg and the Mountains can be seen from the huge ceiling to floor windows, what a view it took our breathe away! and in the evening sitting on the verandah looking down on the twinkling lights of the town was just magical.

The apartment is so well equipped, everything we needed was to hand. The weather was fantastic which allowed us to use the BBQ and Hot Tub much of the time, we had a wonderful relaxing stay and did as much and as little as we wanted. There is so much to do and see.

We are looking forward to our next visit to what we call Alpheaven!! This is where we will be spending our 'special' vacations in future.

We are lucky enough to have stayed at Alphaven in Engelberg on two occasions. We found it purely by chance on the internet and it looked perfect from the very beginning. When you are booking a holiday from half a world away, there is always the possibility that you might be disappointed but Alphaven proved to be pure magic!

The website was one of the best we've ever seen so we were reasonably confident that we had struck gold. Making a booking was very straight-forward and our hosts answered all our questions promptly. Thanks to the accurate directions provided, we had no difficulty in finding Alphaven once we finally arrived in Engelberg for the first time on a foggy afternoon.

The chalet is stunning so seeing it for the first time really did take our breath away. We have rented Apartments A and C and we love the modern layout, the amenities which are too numerous to list, and the sparkling presentation. None of the luxuries have been forgotten here. During our first evening, the mountains made brief appearances through the cloud and it was difficult to remain seated at the dinner table as another snow covered peak would come into view. The enormous picture windows and generous balconies access the views with ease and the whole town of Engelberg is set out below you. We slept without drawing the curtains and were rewarded with panoramic views and perfect weather the next morning.

Alphaven has looked after three generations of our family during our two visits and, despite the generation gap we have all had a ball. There is so much to do and see in the local area and if you don't feel like going out there is always "that view". We'll be back!
