GREAT GET AWAY

Laddie Geneva, New York, US
Review Submitted: February 5, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
Wonderful location, beautiful view, sounds of the surf to put you asleep at night, and Mockingbird serenade in the morning.

Close enough to Aguada for a quick beer run and far enough away to have peace and quiet. Well maintained beach just down the street. Close to Rincon for surfing, snorkeling, scuba, and most anything else you can think of.

See you next year!

The Beach Bungalow was a terrific place to stay
while on the west coast. We had the doors and
windows open every day with no bugs or critters at
all, only the ocean breeze wafting through 24 hrs a
day. Beautiful! Clean, spacious, comfortable. We
made day trips to Crash Boat Beach, the Dry Forest,
and the local public beach which was spotless.
Highly recommend the location, too, being very laid
back.

I’m jealous

In the days of freakishly high prices, it is still possible to go outside the U.S. on vacation, and for practically nothing. As a last-minute summer special, the owner of this Aguada, Puerto Rico, vacation home is renting the property for $99 a night for a full week or $110 per per night for four days. Normally, it goes for $139 a night on weekdays and $149 a night on weekends.

With its trilevel construction, modern lines, rooftop deck and sleek interior (Check out the red leather and camel club chairs), the space brings South Beach style without the fancy price tag and in a chiller neighborhood.

I could easily see the house as the site of your next vacation, what, with surfing, scuba diving, fishing charters and restaurants nearby. A full kitchen, two bedrooms and an open loft that can double as a third bedroom means ample room to spread out and settle in. And you can pack your suitcase as light as you want - the rental is equipped with its own washer and dryer, plus all the extras like towels, linens, beach chairs and a hair dryer (Hey, sea-salted hair is not cute.).

On a historical note, Aguada was rumored to be the landing zone for Christopher Columbus when he stumbled across Puerto Rico in 1493. You can bust out with that knowledge when you’re enjoying rum cocktails and ceviche on the roof.

And wow. Talk about an ocean vista.

If you don’t believe me, take it from Jenny Kanter, a Bostonite who stayed at this Puerto Rican townhome this spring: “We had great views of the ocean, which was just down the hill (2 min walk)… We just got home and already miss the view…”

I’m jealous.

Dear Mark,

Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. We had a fantastic time swimming, collecting shells, snorkling and just hanging out.

It was a perfect vacation in a perfect setting. The only hard part was the abrupt transition from blue skies and 82 degree weather to snowy & 20 degrees.

Best,
Karin & Jacob

Two friends and I stayed four nights in this quiet and modern townhome. We had plenty of room and the accomodations worked for us. There were beautiful views from both sides of the home and the laundry facilities were great to have during this time of the airlines charging for extra baggage. There were just enough personal touches to remind you that it's someone else's escape but not too many that the place is cluttered or too hard to make it your own home away from home for a few days. The owner, Mark, is very accomodating and very interested in making your stay comfortable. The Property Manager, Suhale, is also great for ensuring everything is working and your stay is successful. Since we were there during the beginning of the off-season we didn't find too many local restaurants, but El Galleon (suggested by Mark) was delicious. Otherwise, we grilled one night (a grocery store is close by) and spent a lot of time in Rincon (~15 min. drive) SCUBA diving and socializing. Our first night, after many hours of travel from California, was spent enjoying some night snorkling on the beach down the hill. We will definitely consider spending time here again and have already passed on the recommendation to other friends and co-workers.

Beautiful Area, Beautiful Townhome!
Ragazzo St. Augustine, FL.

...first trip to Puerto Rico and I was very pleased with the townhome; modern, brand new and extremely clean; bright and open w/ lots of natural lighting... very beachy. And the little neighborhood is cute, quaint and quiet.

There are several good restaurants down the street, the supermarket is close and local, roadside fare was always easy to find. There is a beachside park w/in walking distance; Rincon is 10-15 min down the road and my favorite beach, Jobo, is about 20 min away in Isabella.

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway in a brand-new home and would like to stay in a quiet, safe, non-touristy laden area where you can connect just a bit more with the area, I think you'd find this pleasing. I'm already on the list for my second trip.

Best Vacation Ever

Oh my God, I'm so excited that I was able to discover this wonderful place in Puerto Rico. I'm from Tampa, Florida and I thought our beaches were wonderful until I went to Heaven. This townhouse is wonderful. The beach is beautiful, you can see the ocean from the townhome and you can even barbecue on the last floor and enjoy the awesome breeze and view.
This was my best vacation and I travel a lot. I would stay there again and again since it has been better than staying at the Marriott, Wyndham and other hotels in Puerto Rico.

Our stay at the Aguada beach house/condo was great. The house is really beautiful and well kept up and well stocked. We used the beach chairs, towels, and football etc. daily. There were four of us that stayed there (all adults) and there was plenty of room. There is a beautiful beach right outside the condo (down a short hill) where my husband surfed. Also, there is about a 2 mile long road along the beach there that is perfect for running. There were oceanfront Puerto Rican restaurants nearby, but our most favorite dinners were probably the ones we cooked ourselves and ate on the roof of the house, overlooking the ocean.

The owner is very dedicated to providing a wonderful place to stay and he is great at getting back to you right away via phone or email. We really felt like we found a gem. I looked around for awhile on various vacation home websites before I found this one. But, as soon as I found this one- we all agreed it was perfect and booked it immediately. Mark gave us a great price and basically we had an awesome vacation on a tight budget. The neighbors are very nice- we borrowed a corkscrew from them one night. Oh- and you can hear the waves every night when you go to sleep. The house has AC but you don't need it. We just got back yesterday and already miss the view and the ocean.

Also, Aguada is a great non-touristy place to stay. We visited the whole west side of the island from this location. Try Platano Loco for dinner one night.

Thanks for everything Mark!!
