Horrible experience, I will not rent here again

I arrived at the condo (on my booked arrival date) to find another party occupying the unit. They refused to vacate, so I was unable to use the condo. After calling Karen to tell her the issue, she promised to refund me my first night, but informed me that there was nothing she could do until the next day, because she'd have to wait till then to get ahold of her cleaning crew. I had to drive all the way back home, wasting my time and my gas.
I checked in successfully the next day, but the high speed/wireless internet that was promised was inoperable. When I called Karen to imform her, she suggested I call the cable company myself to get it fixed. (Tenants should not be required to "fix" amenities. Tenants are responsible for informing landlords, who should then take action to rectify any issues.)
The following day, the party who mistakenly occupied the unit previously, insisted on coming inside to search for leftover food. They forced their way in and searched the unit, agianst my objections. I found this to be a gross invasion of my privacy.
Moreover, my deposit that was due to be returned (within 2 weeks) didn't arrive till 3 weeks after the end of my stay. Karen did refund my actual deposit, plus a suitable amount for my wasted gas. But most importantly, she did NOT refund my first night, even after she had promised to do so.
When I attempted to recover my funds for the first night that I was unable to stay, she refused! She suggested that I recover my funds from the former tenant!!! (My lease with Karen was quite simply, a contract. My only contract is with Karen, the landlord. Not with any tenant, past present or future.)
As of 9/8/08, after a long, heated exchange, Karen has finally refunded the charge for the first night. I now consider this matter to be closed. However, I am still irked by the amount of energy required to get money back for a night I wasn't even able to stay. Not to mention the time, trouble, and aggravation expended to check in and use the internet services that her ad promised.
This was my experience. I will not rent from Karen ever again.
Owner's Response: It isn't easy to please everyone all the time.One such girl rented my condo and blamed me for a series of mistakes that was beyond my control. A tenant mistakingly moved into my condo instead of the one he rented causing her an inconvenience. I provided the girl with a place to stay at the condo complex and managed to get the renter out of my condo in the morning so she could move in. The girl suffered no financial lost because I took care of the situation. Yet she demanded that I refund her her first night's rent even though she had a place to stay. The only reason she actually had to go home was because she left my telephone number there.When I was told the internet was not working I called the cable company right away but could not answer which lights were not working on the cable box, so I called Dafina back and she said she has had to talk to Bright House before and said she would call. Not hearing back from her I believed that it was now working. The situation is now taken care of and have had happy tenants since.
