Unspolit and traquil, with a villa to match

I’m not one for writing reviews, but this place deserves it, albeit a while after our two stays. With my wife and 20 month old son (he was 5 months the first visit), we hopped onto one of the many Rhodes flights from Manchester; jumped into a taxi which took us to the port in Rhodes, where we then boarded the ferry for the sail to Tilos – all very simple and part of the holiday.
Tilos is a remarkable and unspoilt island in this day and age – it takes you back to what I expect Greece was like decades ago: simple living, a handful of cars, lots of goats and fresh food being grown everywhere. The island is 10 by 6km in size, so you can tour the island in a day: the beaches, the hills, the tiny villages with the odd tavern and the historical interest places – especially the abandoned village of Mica Horio, which remains almost intact since the last inhabitant departed in the 1950’s.
Now to Eden Villas. Seemingly the farthest point on the island, on the edge of the main village of Megalo Horio. You have the best of all worlds – total privacy, a villa like no other and basic amenities 5 minutes walk away. It’s a 15 minute ride to the livelier port of Lavadia where you can enjoy what is still a very calm and relaxed existence amongst the locals.
We spent most of our time in and around the villa – with a design that deceives: it’s variety of rooms and terraces on many different levels makes you feel as if you’re in a different building, with a different vista each time you move a few paces. As you can imagine, privacy is easy to find, but everyone’s just a shout away. It's the night time that fascinates me most. After dark, wander up to the roof terrace, sit in the deck chair and watch the stars - the views of the constellations are spectacular.
As for our son, he enjoyed every minute of it. It's a real family treat where you spend all the day time at play, either in the pool or around the villa. Some evenings we ventured to Castros - the restaurant in the village (another 5 minutes walk), where Dina, the proprietor couldn't have been more welcoming - she adores kids...oh and the food is delicious - all home grown and locally reared.
Annie and Rob are the perfect hosts – they’ll leave you in total peace if you wish, but are always happy to sit and chat and share in a drink or two. Anything you need to know, they’ll have the answer, as they know the locals very well and speak the language.
Thanks Annie and Rob, see you again soon.

Owner's Response: What a nice review, the stars at night from the roof-terrace really are something to see. Thank you. Hope you'll come again soon.
