we had a great time at the apartment, the location was great outside of manhattan but easy to get to the subway or a car to go to the city. We really enjoyed astoria, and the shopping on steinway street. we would most definately stay again. The owners are great.

We stayed in this accomadation in Queens for six nights and felt really comfortable there. It was very clean and had plenty of room. The apartment had a very usefull wellcome basket and maps and menus of the many local shops and restaurants were on hand. Transport into Manhatten was a short distance away and the train was very regular.

Jean was a helpfull during both the booking process and while we were there.

Alll in all we could recommend this apartment to anyone.

A Superb Alternative to a Hotel...

My mom and I found this apartment while seeking places to stay for a wedding we were attending. The bride helped us locate this little gem of a place and after our experience here, we'll never stay at a crummy ol' hotel again!

This Astoria apartment is more than we could have hoped. We were thrilled to see how charming and spacious the place was when we walked in the door. It was absolutely spotless and had everything we could have asked for - maps, menus, books on NYC, lots of fluffy towels... even a blender! It was amazing. Jean makes sure that the place is comfortable, safe & secure and she was available for any questions we had.

The neighborhood was a wonderful place to walk around and a fun place to explore. LOTS of good food, kind people and only a short walk to the subway. One of the things we loved the most was that our station was at the end of the line, so there was always plenty of seating on the N train when we got on. :)

Again, we can't say enough good things about our experience and would HIGHLY recommend it for your next trip to New York.

Great place for a longer stay in New York CIty

Review Submitted: September 14, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We (middle-aged couple from Yorkshire, UK) had a great week staying in this apartment in Astoria, Queens at the end of August/beginning of September. From here we explored Manhattan and spent 3 days at the US Open tennis at Flushing Meadow, Queens. The location was good for both since the subway is cheap, fast and frequent and we even used it to return from a late-running night session at the Open at 1am. The subway station is only 10-15 minutes walk from the apartment. The apartment itself is great - very tastefully decorated and with good facilities for cooking and relaxing - and the owner is very friendly and has provided lots of useful information. What really surprised us was how good a choice it turned out to be to stay in Astoria. We really liked the neighbourhood - much more relaxing than Manhattan - and we made good use of the large number of good places to eat on Ditmars Boulevard. A walk to Astoria Park is recommended too for good views of Manhattan. We'd thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay, especially if you are in New York for more than 2-3 days.

GREAT APARTMENT

Review Submitted: August 29, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
The apartment was clean and well equipped for an enjoyable stay for the four of us. Privacy and access to the facilities were easily available. Jean was very helpful and knowledgeable about NYC and it was obvious that she was proud of her city. She had decorated the apartment with artwork and stocked it with great books (both fact and fiction) and videos. It was great to leave the buzz of NYC behind and in less than a half an hour be in Astoria, a pleasant neighborhood for dining, shopping and just chilling. We enjoyed the beer gardens as well as the outdoor Greek restaurants.

August Holidays in New York

Review Submitted: August 25, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
I spent with my wife and 2 children 5 days in New York and we have had really great time in Jean's apartement . The apartment is nice , perfect for 4 people with 1 bedroom and 1 pull sofa in the living room and a complete furnished kitchen . Ceiling fans and AC's are making confortable your staying even in the hot NYC summer time . You have also 2 Tv's and DVD system to keep the children busy whern you're at home .We found the apartment clean , a welcom basket waiting for us and some stuff as coffe, water , cereals etc to get confort without getting out when we arrived . The area is safe even in the night with shops , restaurants, and markets really closed ( between 100 and 200 meters ) .Metro ( N Line) to go to Manhattan is 10 minutes walking and in 15 minutes you're in the core of the big apple . Jean is always available for questions , hels ( as to book a car for the airport ) , suggestion about NYC. I definetely recommend this property .

A place to feel home

Review Submitted: July 21, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Our stay was 3 nights on a sightseeing stop-over in this lovely apartment. The apartment was very clean with enough room for 4 people and a good layout. A safe & nice neighbourhood, ten minute walk to the subway (15min to Times Square), supermarket, good italian and greek restaurants around the corner etc. We loved the neighbourhood, there was everything you need within walking distance. We loved this experience and strongly recommend you try it! Special thanks to Jean for her advices!

GREAT APARTMENT & LOCATION

Londonderry Northern Ireland
Review Submitted: July 16, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Stayed 10 days on a sight-seeing trip to NY. The apartment was spacious, clean, well furnished & equiped, comfortable, tastefully decorated with a NY theme, and felt a home from home!

Jean & Owen made us feel welcome and helped us "settle-in " by giving directions to the subway, supermarket etc, and the Welcome basket / metro card was a nice touch!
A bookcase was stuffed with books about NY, sight-seeing guide books, subway / bus routes & maps, and there was a large file giving info all about the local area & amenities etc

The location was good - fairly quiet, felt safe, a ten minute walk to the subway, supermarket around the corner, and good restaurants etc. subway took about 20 mins to the city and are frequent.

Recommend 7 day unlimited metrocard if you intend to travel mainly by subway or bus ( either )
Citysights open top bus tour ( need at least 48 hr ticket)
Central park
Intrepid sea-air-space museum ( especially for males)
Circle line cruise around Manhattan( 3 hr is best value )

Great Apartment Had A Wonderful Time

Cheryl & Murray Alberta, Canada
Review Submitted: May 29, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Our stay was 4 nights (Apr 22- 26/09) in this charming apartment. The apartment was very clean (kitchen & bathroom too), beautifully decorated with NY artwork & pictures, bed was comfortable (we slept sound!), more than enough room and a good layout. It is also located in a safe & nice neighbourhood. We loved the Astoria neighbourhood it has everything you need within walking distance. It is a 15 minute walk to the subway, very convenient getting into Manhattan. We found a couple of really good restaurants in Astoria; read all about them in the guestbook. Jean was very friendly and helpful, she's a great hostess. Jean has put together a binder of information on Astoria and all kinds of items on Manhattan & events. Very helpful info! This was our first time renting an apartment on a vacation. We loved this experience and strongly recommend you try it!

What a place to come home to.

Bletchers Oxfordshire, England
Review Submitted: April 17, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
I would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to anyone. It was just as described on the website, clean, cosy, nicely decorated and a pleasure to come home to after a hard day’s sight seeing. The kitchen was well equipped with a very large fridge freezer; the bathroom had a powerful shower and a good supply of clean towels.

We stayed here with our two boys 11 and 17, who really enjoyed this apartment, despite sharing the pull down sofa bed, which they found comfy. There was a blow up bed they could have used if they wished. A good supply of DVDs to choose from.

Jean had provided a little welcome basket which was a nice touch. She was very helpful if we needed to ask any questions, Jean also responded quickly to any questions I had before the visit by email.

Be sure to get a yellow cab from the airport only $35 and worth it after a long flight. The area was ok, we never felt in any danger here or indeed in any part of our stay in New York.

The metro is very convenient to the apartment and is great as it is the end of the line so you cannot go the wrong way. There were always trains in the station when we arrived. The metro was easy to move around on and with a seven day pass for $25 very reasonable. A very efficient service.

There was a little shopping centre 5 mins walk from the apartment with a supermarket, dunkin donuts, Chinese restaurant etc.

We would recommend the New York Pass for visiting attractions whilst in New York; they are cheaper to buy on line than when you are there, and can be collected from Planet Hollywood. If you are there for a week you will more than cover the cost of a 7 day pass. They provide a booklet showing all the places included and the ones you can use to fast pass at. Eating at planet Hollywood was a good one as you skipped the line and got $10.00 each off the bill. The trip to Liberty and Ellis Island was good but the line was a pain, make sure you get there early in the day as we had to queue for just under and hour despite skipping the first line to get our tickets with the pass.

Make sure you visit Central park, my favourite place, alive with birds in April. Our boys enjoyed taking a boat out on the lake.

If you want a nice place to relax in which is out of town you would not find a better apartment and at a very reasonable price too. Thank you Jean, we hope to come back some day.
