A gem on the Nova Scotia coast

My wife and I, together with 3 other couples, rented Sunrise at Sol Point for a week this summer. We all had high expectations and these were greatly surpassed. The gorgeous home is even better than described, and the lovely pictures don't do the property justice. It is spacious, clean, and wonderfully equipped with new stainless steel appliances (including a wine fridge!). The views are spectacular. The building has been lovingly rebuilt to resemble the original fish plant, so it fits the local ecology to a tee. There's lots to do in the area - we spent happy days hiking, sightseeing (Peggy's Cove is next door; Halifax, Grand Pre, and Lunenburg are easy drives), cycling and kayaking. We enjoyed seeing bald eagles, seals, herons, and other wildlife. We would definitely recommend this spot to all who love spectacular coastal settings and the highest quality accommodations. And by the way, there is a cable internet connection that was not advertised, so came to us as a pleasant suprise.

Sunrise at Sol point is magnificent! If you want a relaxing vacation, this is the place. Unbelievable views from the great room! Wake up to the sound of the ocean lapping at the shore just outside your window. The sunrises are truly spectacular. The owners and caretakers were extremely friendly and helpful. We celebrated my mothers 70th birthday here. We can’t wait for her next birthday so we can come back. It easily slept seven with plenty of elbow room. A great place for holding a small family gathering. We cannot say enough about this place. We will be back! .

We decided to try the East Coast for a family vacation this year and stayed at Sunrise at Sol Point from Oct 4-11, 2008.

The name says it all. What an amazing sunrise you wake to every morning! There are breathtaking views from every window in the house. The house it self is beautiful and easy accommodated our 7 adults. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay!

We stayed at the West Dover house this past July. We brought our mother there for a surprise 60th birthday gift. She loved it!!!! We all loved it. The house is beautiful, the view is AMAZING, and it was one of the most relaxing vacations we've had.

If you want to relax, have a glass of wine, read a book, spend time with your family, and see the sights of Nova Scotia....this is the place to stay. We will be back someday. It was everything we hoped and MORE.

We enjoyed a fantastic long weekend in May at this
great vacation rental. The 360 degree view and
sound of waves lapping the shore are the essence
of a superb ocean front location. The house is
amazingly spacious and so well-equipped for every
creature comfort. Our particular favourite was the
cozy lap robes we used to sit out on the deck and
watch the sunrise and the lobster boats. We visited
as a multi-generational family to attend our
daughter's graduation and it worked very well. The
kitchen is fantastic and easily accommodates
multiple cooks. My husband used a kayak to
explore the bay. There is loads of parking too,
which even accommodated our 30ft trailer with
ease. The seniors especially haven't stopped
talking about what a great place and experience it
was to stay there together. I am sure that with the
caring and attention to detail of the owners and the
custodians many more families will share similar
happy experiences in this dream of a vacation
home. I highly recommend that you go for it, and
enjoy!

I just recently returned from a 10 day stay at the
Van den Burg's house in West Dover. What a
perfect location and a beautiful home! From the
moment we pulled down the driveway and saw the
view, I knew it would be a wonderful week. We
used this house for a family vacation, pulling
together eight people from four different locations.
We were impressed not just by the breathtaking
sights we saw out of each window, but by the
details and comfort of the home. It was truly
prepared for a group of eight, spacious with every
amenity--right down to the wine cooler in the
kitchen! The location was perfect for such a wide
variety of things: watching the sun rise with a cup
of coffee, hiking on the rocks and trails (every turn
is another amazing photo!), visiting the quaint
towns and villages within a short drive (Peggy's
Cove, Mahone Bay, Lunenburg), and still only a 45
minute drive to Halifax for the Farmer's Market and
city life. We were even surprised at what a short
drive it was to Wolfville and the Bay of Fundy (less
than two hours). We were well attended by
Lawrence and Frida, the caretakers of the house,
and found them happily willing to answer
questions, fill us in on the area, or just provide
good conversation. They made us feel "like locals"
for the time we were there, offering hospitality
above and beyond without being intrusive. This
home allowed us to create a memorable family
experience in comfort, surrounded by beauty--and
it made us all fall in love with Nova Scotia!

We had a wonderful vacation at the van den Burg home. We stayed for a full week (12/28/07 - 1/4/2008). The pictures and description of the property does not do it justice. It is absolutely wonderful. The views are beyond compare and the inside is better appointed than a 5 star hotel or resort. Mr. van den Burg called the day after our arrival to make sure all was to our satisfaction. The Morash's who own Ocean Spray Bed and Breakfast down the road (where you pick up the key to property)are two of the nicest people we have ever met. We witnessed magical sunrises and breathtaking sunsets. It's true the lobster boats pass right out the window each morning on their way out to check traps. I would have been content to just look out the window all day long, but there is so much to see in the area, that you must leave and explore their beautiful country. If you have the opportunity to visit this property at anytime during the year, we would certainly recommend it. It did not disappoint us - infact, it exceeded our expectations! Thanks to the van den Burgs and Morashs for their hospitality.

You have lucked out on getting such a lovely peice of water front property. I guess when you live here you really don't notice how beautiful the area is and I must say it is a very cosy place to be. It happen to be a full moon and it made it all that much more pleasant. There is nothing I would change about your home.Thank you for letting me and Ron enjoy a weekend in your beautiful home. The house reflects on how special your family is.
