Casa Lucia

Hackney London
Review Submitted: October 27, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
My partner and I rented Casa Lucia for the first week in October 2009. We were attracted to this property by its interior decor, the stunning views from the garden and the facilities it offered (swimming pool). It did not disappoint us.
We had a great holiday. The accommodation was beautiful and perfectly located for day trips to the big cities and rural villages.
The week passed too quickly, but we made the most of our time with leisurely swims, day trips to Lucca, Vinci, Florence, San Gimignano, Pisa and local evening walks.

The customer service was exceptional, and we were provided with detailed information on finding the property, local facilities – shops, restaurants and holiday suggestions etc. None of which we could fault.

I would likely recommend Casa to Lucia to others and hope that one day I will return to repeat the experience.
Owner's Response: Our October guests to Casa Lucia (and our other property in Tuscany, Casa Fiore 10317) all enjoyed their holidays with fine sunny weather. Spring and Autumn are lovely times of the year in Tuscany. It's never too soon to book!

a wonderfully located home from home in the tuscan hills, ideal for day trips to florence, pisa and sienna, as well as plenty of other charming places.
absolutely the best views we've ever had from a holiday home and some gorgeous sunsets thrown in, a fabulous place to chill out in the garden with some local food and wine and a very welcoming atmosphere.
just as importantly perhaps; the owners were incredibly helpful in the lead up to our visit, perfect for first time 'tuscaneers' like us!
we very much hope to return soon. thank you!!!

We arrived at Casa Lucia (the first time) in the dark after a long journey. We opened the beautiful wooden doors and stepped into a holiday house with a special atmosphere and I relaxed immediately. The property has been cleverly and stylishly renovated with traditional cotta fllor tiles, beautiful bed linen and practical use of space.
When I opened the doors to the stunning view next morning I couldn't help thinking that the owners were modest in their advertising literature.
The garden is a pleasure and is set out with enough quality garden furniture that you can follow the sun around the building or follow the shade.
The contact with the owners, the welcome and advice provided on arrival and the standard of cleaning and maintenance were of a very high standard. There is a super visitors book where the owners and other guests recommend restaurants which we have enjoyed.
The Borga has been developed in a traditional way to a very high spec and we found the owners of other properties friendly when we chatted to them at the well maintained pool, which also enjoys lovely views.
We have stayed in Casa Lucia twice now and have visited Lucca, San Miniato, San Gimigniano, Vinci, Pisa, up into the hills to Barga and on our last visit we took the train into Florence. We also drove to Venice for an overnight stay and the owners were very helpful in recommending a hotel which was excellent.
There are lots of good walks around the Borgo if you don't mind some steep bits.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone and dream of returning again.
Owner's Response: These guests were quite delightful and will be most welcome to stay again when university expenses completed. They told me their son took a photo of Casa Lucia with him when he first went to university. By the way, we wish the daughter good luck as she commences university this year.

This property is lovely, clean and in a beautiful position. We were able to visit all the sights very easily and found the roads and tuscany itself quite empty considering it was end of july/beg of August. The property is at the top of a hill, which we did find daunting and did not want to attempt driving up in the dark so we did not go out in the evening but stayed in the apartment, which was no hardship as it is very well equipped with outstanding views.
The pool was brilliant and we often had it just to ourselves and my daughter loved the 'stray cats' which frequented our garden. Siena was easy to drive to and park at - almost right in the centre - Florence is easy and cheap to get to on the train - Lucca was great and cheap and easy to park as well and we loved Pisa! I think that for us this holiday was a little too quiet but I am pleased we went and feel lucky to have picked such a lovely place to stay. I would have no hesitation recommending this place and the owners were very helpful in the build up to the holiday.
Owner's Response: Thank you. This is an interesting and thoughtful review. We purchased Casa Lucia, as like many Tuscan holiday homes, it is on a small hilltop (4 mins driving to top) so it has superb views on way up and cooling breezes. It's a tarmac road and we find it easy in the dark but prefer to have lunch out and relax at Casa Lucia in the evening - we also do this at our other place Casa Fiore and the 'hill' there takes only 45seconds to the top! I am writing to this guest to suggest Casa Fiore (property 10317) as an alternative for her - some guests prefer one and some the other.

Review Submitted: August 18, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We had our visit to Tuscany in June this year staying in this fabulous hilltop borgo with views to die for. The information given by the owners prior to departure were very comprehensive and so all we had to do was unpack and relax and then explore this beautiful part of the world, There are many charming places to visit from the obvious Florence, Lucca and Pisa to the smaller local villages like Vinci. There are numerous lovely eating places so all needs are catered for. Definitely worth a visit ... or two!
Owner's Response: Thank you for these comments.
These were more welcome guests from Scotland. We are pleased the guests enjoyed their holiday - it's such a beautiful area. There are lots of small local villages well worth exploring - and a relaxing day driving around makes a welcome change to visiting the exciting main tourist sites.
We stayed ourselves in June as it's one of our favourite months.

We had a great week in this lovely house with fantastic relaxing view over vineyards. Everything you need in a holiday home and more.
Great location for reaching Florence and surrounding towns and villages.
Not as many restaurants as I would have liked in the area
Did not find the pool easy to get to as there was some temporary fencing up at the time.
Overall great holiday great siat.

Owner's Response: Thank you for an interesting review. I am glad our guests enjoyed their holiday. There are lots and lots of restaurants but many are tucked away in little villages and around the countryside - I have now made a better local map showing where these are and a fuller restaurant list. The nearest restaurant is just 6 minutes away and the food/wine is quite superb - the outside tables have individual gazebos. The pool's fence was damaged by unusual winter weather and has now been improved so access is easier.

Lovely family holiday in Tuscany

Review Submitted: July 27, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This is a lovely house in a restored hamlet with absolutely stunning views across the Tuscan hills.Sunsets are glorious and then the hillsides twinkle like fairyland as the lights come on.
The house and pool are well maintained and the owner provides very helpful tips and advice.
We are a family of four with two teenage children and had a very relaxing holiday.
This property is not suitable for people with mobility problems as there are steps or a steep path to the pool .
Owner's Response: This delightful family stayed for a week at each of our properties (Casa Fiore 10317 and Casa Lucia 16914) - we also arranged Italian tuition for their daughter and the father which worked out well for them. The family enjoyed staying in both places and you would also be welcome to stay with us. We have been with Holiday Rentals since 2004.

review of Casa Lucia Bucciano Tuscany

Review Submitted: June 15, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
A beautiful property and location. The views looked good in the photos and they really are!! To wake up to that every morning was perfect. The pool was large and more than adequate - as many of the properties are occupied by locals the pool was pretty much our own as they were out at work. The location is perfect - as described there are numerous towns that are in easy reach. Our favourites were Lucca - a small walled city where you can hire bikes and cycle round the wall - the kids loved this. San Gimignano was also very pretty - we will definitely be revisiting when we can.

A lovely holiday - Christine goes out of her way to make your stay. All the advice is great - and we were given ideas for where to go from neighbours which was also great.

We enjoyed staying at Casa Lucia immensely and had no problems whatsoever thanks to all the information from the owners.

Casa Lucia was a wonderful base for our week in Tuscany. A good base from which we could explore a great many sights and wonderful to come back to, when we wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather in the lovely garden with the spectacular view.

We enjoyed going through the materials and the house book, suggesting trips to make etc. Thanks to the materials we found tips about the region that we would not have known about otherwise. There is a wonderful restaurant close by as well.

Review Submitted: April 17, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We had a lovely time at Casa Lucia. The weather was really good up in the mid 20s most of the time which surprised us for April. So we did get to relax in the sun as well as do the usual round of site seeing.

Thank you for letting us share your lovely holiday home it certainly is a gem.
