A perfect get away

We arrived at the villa on the saturday and were delighted by how beautfiful and clean it was and how incredibly well equipped. If only my kitchen at home was so well stocked with utensils etc!
The views from the villa are breathtaking and i never tired of getting up in the morning and having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea, the mountains and the castle below.
With 2 small children we asked for the pool to be heated and as a result we were in the pool all day - helped by some inflatable toys that had been left by the previous visitors.
We had wonderful service from Gill, the managing agent and it was great to have someone on hand to help when we needed it.
I'd love to be able to give some great restaurant recommendations....unfortunately we were so happy in the villa we only got acquainted with the local supermarket (very good) and spent every evening having one or two sundowners on the terrace followed by dinner and a DVD in the villa. Super relaxing.
We did venture out to Granada and we would recommend the Alhambra for a visit. The direct road from Salobrena makes the journey very easy.
A great villa. We fell in love with the place!

Two week holiday at

Cathine Barnet UK
Review Submitted: August 19, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We spent a fantastic two weeks staying in this villa. The kitchen and bathrooms are newly fitted to a high specification and the villa was well equipped and spotless. The views to the Mediterranean are stunning, with the mountains to the side and back.. Our children aged 12 and 15 were very grateful for the WiFi connection meaning that they could keep in touch with friends in England. The WiFi worked brilliantly without any interruptions. We also enjoyed free membership of the sports club with use of the the tennis court. Gillian, the property manager was very helpful and efficient with good advice on everything from shopping to restaurants. I would definitely recommend this property and we hope to go again in the near future

A fantastic villa with stunning views!

We stayed at Las Alturas at the end of May and as I'm a bit wimpy and we have small children, we asked for the pool to be heated. Having stayed on this stretch of coast before, many of the villas don't have heating so this was great and proved cost-effective. The villa itself was spotless and thoughtfully decorated and equipped, but something you couldn't put a price on was the views. On one side, the mountains and the other the ocean with several of the rooms having a dual view. Salobrena is a few minutes drive and had everything you need from fresh fish market and great panaderias to large supermarkets, so you get the seclusion of the villa with the convenience of local amenities (car is essential, unless you enjoy steep vertical climbs)! The owners were very well-prepared for children and babies with cot and bedding/highchair etc, although the wide staircase inside and out was a fascination for my very busy toddler so we had to keep our eye on him!
I cannot recommend this villa enough and the communication from the owner in the UK and managing agent in Spain was friendly, professional and extremely prompt from start to finish. Las Alturas is a real find and I can't wait to go back. My 4 year old says he dreams of it being our house every night!

Fantastic Villa, Gardens and views

We have just returned from a lovely family holiday at Las Alturas, which exceeded my expectations.

The villa has recently been re-fitted with a new kitchen and bathrooms and is superb. The kitchen has every convenience and is extremely large for Spain. I especially liked the marble worktops, and every utensil we could possibly need.

The pool is a good size and is very secluded, with plenty of space to sit in the sun or shade. The gardens are very well tended, all round, with views in every direction, including the Sierra Nevada, complete with a passing goat herd in the distance.

Las Alturas is in an ideal spot or visiting the mountains and we would reccomend visiting the villages of the Alpujarras, and the fantastic Alhambra at Granada, which is a must see. When vising the Alhambra, be sure to walk up to the viewing point of the Albaicin area to see the Alhambra with the snow capped mountains behind. Note that the motorway is now open all the way to Granada which takes about 45 minutes from Salobrena.

As a family with teenagers we really appreciated spending a relaxing time around the pool, having a barbeque and then relaxing in the evening watching a dvd from the vast collection, but also having the option to go further afield.

Easter family break

Wargravians Wargrave, Berkshire, UK
Review Submitted: April 24, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We all loved the area and thought the villa was fantastic. The beds were comfortable, and all the rooms were furnished with the highest quality materials. The view of the coast took some taking in. I don't think we ever got used to it. Quite superb. The April air in Andalusia is filled with the scents of wysteria, oranges and lemons - a great time to go. The garden has wysteria, lemons, kumquats, cacti and two impressive palm trees. The pool was a big success, nice and warm, though we didn't linger on the sides very often because it was chilly in the shade. Recommended places to visit: the caves of Nerja, the Alpujarras villages, the Alhambra in Granada, the Arab fort in Salobrena and the beaches at Almunecar. An English couple who live locally look after your every need, but only when you need them. Highly recommended.

Our paradise

We spent almost the entire week in the above property - we simply could not be tempted away by the local variety of places to visit or eat in. We had everything we could possibly wish for - beautifully and thoughtfully equipped villa, stunning views, beautiful weather, quiet beaches and the reassuring presence of the property manager who was very knowledgable and helpful.
The location was excellent - the top of the mountain - not just for the beautiful scenery but for the peace and quiet it offered. We had no through traffic, no local noises, just the birds singing all day.
All of the instructions were clear with full descriptions of all the appliances. Recommendations for restaurants, sightseeing tips and any other useful information were all presented in the most comprehensive folder. We really felt that everything had been covered.
Probably for the first time ever, we did not have any complaints. It was just superb. We truly have found our holiday paradise and another "first" for us - we have already booked it for next year!

Peaceful and secluded

Review Submitted: November 23, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
Las Alturas is perched high on a hillside overlooking Salubrena. The views from the garden are beautiful and it was hard coming away from the villa to explore the local area. It is peaceful and secluded, not being overlooked by anyone, but there are other villas in the area so you don't feel isolated.
The garden and pool were lovely. Beautifully maintained and lots of hideaway spots to sit quietly. It was delightful eating breakfast outside on the terrace and watching the day begin.
The interior of the villa is of high quality. The kitchen is very well equipped, as is the lounge and dining room area. The added bonus of English satellite TV was great.
Everything was clean and well maintained throughout and the site manager friendly and approachable.
Overall, a lovely villa to spend your holiday in.

Fantastic view

Review Submitted: November 22, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We stayed in the villa in July 2008. It was a fantastic holiday. Very peaceful. The views were absolutely amazing. We sat most evenings eating and drinking on the veranda looking out over the sea. The villa was very well equipped. There was everything there that you needed to make the stay comfortable. There was a huge dvd collection which kept our 2 year old daughter amused as she didn't appreciate the view as much as we did. The gas bbq was brilliant so we ended up staying in most nights and cooking. The supermarket Al Campo had so much choice and was easy to get to so there was no need to eat out much. The swimming pool was lovely. It is not huge but big enough for relaxing with the family. The complex swimming pool was really big and seemed to be heated too so we used that a few times as well as the tennis courts and play area. Our teenagers found it a bit quiet so the internet access was really appreciated. Gill was always on hand when you needed some help. I would say this was a brilliant holiday. I can't actually think of anything bad to say. We would definately recommend anyone to visit here especially if they want a relaxing, get away from it all holiday.

What a view!

Review Submitted: November 19, 2008 Date of Stay: January 2008
My wife (6 months pregnant at the time) and I stayed here in Jan 08 for a week looking for a quiet retreat and slightly warmer climes for this time of year. This was perfect (though the weather was changeable).

The villa is definitely home from home and everything you could want is there. Lots of space both inside and out and easily found from the main road. Beautifully presented. Nice quiet area and you feel away from it all high on the hill. You will need a car.

But the biggest attraction bar none are the views. Just stunning. One way you have the Med and the towns below and the other the Sierra Nevada in all their glory.

Fantastic.
