Since 1994 we have spent our holidays in Santa Maria in various apartment in the area. In 2003 we stayed in Villa De Santis for the 1st time, and have been back every year since. What impressed me most was the well laid out apartments, very well equipped, spacious, and the very large balcony with views over the town of Santa Maria, and the sea beyond.

The apartments are close to the town, about 5 mins walk to the centre, yet are very private and tranquil. Access is via a security gate with ample car parking. Each apartment has its own entrance and a view of the swimming pool and the sea.

We like the fact that the owner Vicenzo lives on site, so in the unlikely event that anything goes wrong, he is only a short distance away. We found Vincenzo and his sons Marco and Roberto very helpful but unobtrusive.

We have made many friend in Santa Maria over the years. The town has plenty of restaurants and shopping and a chance to sample the Italian way of life.

We can highly recommend Villa De Santis as a comfortable and very good value place to stay!

Well worth the visit :-)

Review Submitted: July 19, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We have just returned home after 2 weeks staying in one of the 2 bed apartments and we had a wonderful holiday. The apartments are basic but very adequate, very clean and well-maintained. The owner was very helpful and always on hand if required (although doesnt speak English so Italian or French comes in handy!) The pool is great with plenty of chairs/recliners. The best thing about the apartments are the balconies which look out over the sea with a view of Capri and the Amalfi coast on a clear evening. Sitting on the balcony watching the sunset was one of the highlights of the holiday. There are plenty of places to visit locally - the town of S Maria is about a 10 min walk away with lots of shops and restaurants. Castellabate is worth a visit especially at sunset, spectacular views. Pompeii, Paestum, Amalfi Coast, Capri all worth a visit (although Amalfi Coast is quite a drive, not for the faint-hearted!) All in all, a lovely place to stay - highly recommended.

An inspired choice!

Review Submitted: May 12, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2008
We went to Italy to be at my niece's wedding in Ravello, an hour away from where we stayed in Santa Maria de Castellabate. It was an inspired choice and we enjoyed the hospitality, the environment around the villa de Santis - especially the lovely and nightly cleaned swimming pool - as well as the region all, in almost equal measure. The views from the balcony were wonderful and the closeness to the pretty small town made frequent visits easy and fun.

From the moment the owner sheltered us under an umbrella - on the first and only rainy day of our stay - from the car to the appartment, we felt welcomed and taken care of by both Mr & Mrs. De Santis. What we and our grown up children particularly appreciated was the quick response to request for changes or addition to things already in the appartments: from pushing single beds together in one of the rooms to giving us additional crockery on request. Our little granddaughter would have lived in the pool if allowed to and high chair and cot were provided from the start to make life easier.

Thank you for making the holiday so agreeable, and to Mrs de Santis for making it easy for me to practise my Italian which was so much less fluent than your french. We would love to come again in the next couple of years to explore the region better and say hello again either in french or - who knows? In more fluent italian.

A time to remember!

Review Submitted: September 18, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We had a fantastic time at the villa. The key highlights for us were the weather, the proximity to the town (about a 10 minute walk), and the beautiful coastline. Car hire is a must to see all that the local area offers.

The property itself was comfortable, and ideal for a family break. The only thing I would have added would have been air conditioning, but the building never actually got too hot, and the fans supplied moved the air around. On the plus side the views from the front were outstanding, and breakfast was just perfect!

Would definitely stay here again!

If you like what you see, just go for it...

Review Submitted: September 13, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
If you like what you see on the pictures, just go for it, for it is even
better in real life.

The view is magnificent (the flats have their balcony/terrace towards the sea) here you can enjoy a good glass of wine, eat olives and good Parma ham and enjoy the panorama view. If the temperature is not to high you can even see Capri. The flats are not luxurious, but functional. (Good beds) The pool was very nice to take a swim in after sightseeing or after a day at the beach. Our kids loved it and some days we just stayed at the villa. The atmosphere here is very friendly and you really get the opportunity to relax and enjoy life. The flats even have a garden where you can play ping-pong, or lie in a hammock. It is almost like you live in a private place! There is also washing machine on the area, so you can freshen up your beach towels and other things that's needs a wash. The place is about 5-10 min away from the main street in Santa Maria di Castellabate. Santa Maria di Castellabate is a small village, with plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Also you have many restaurants in the area around (Castellabate /Sant Marco or outside the center of Santa Maria di Castellabate). Ask the host for recommendation. The nearest bakery is also 5-10 min walk away (on your way to the village center), and there are at least 3 supermarkets I know of, where you can do your shopping. Sant Marco is the "next door" village, 10 min drive from Santa Maria, and from the harbor in Sant Marco, you can take the ferry (catamaran) over to Capri. Santa Maria di Castellabate is about 2
hours drive from Napoli. We had executions to Pompeii, and a roundtrip to the Amalfi-coast. The prices are higher on the Amalfi-coast and Capri was very expensive, but you can't miss the opportunity to go there, when you are in the area. Castellabate is a village situated on the hills, behind Santa Maria di Castellabate, and here you must go to see the sunset. I recommend to rent a car so you are free to move around in the area. (For instance you are in the middle of mozzarella producing district). Plenty of places to visit, and 14 days are simply not enough. I highly recommend it.

A great holiday with unforgettable sunsets

Review Submitted: August 31, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We had a great holiday and are happy to recommend this apartment. We felt before we arrived that we were welcome. Our questions on email were always answered quickly by Marco and Roberto, and the directions were excellent. We were late arriving because of a late flight, but Roberto was ready to welcome us, and was very helpful.

The villa was adequately equipped for our family of 4, it was clean, and linen and towels provided. The best things were the view from our balcony over the sea with the wonderful sun sets, and the swimming pool. We also had fantastic weather, clear blue skies and hot every day (unlike the summer in England!). We were happy sightseeing, or just relaxing by the pool.

The town of Santa Maria di Castellabate and the beaches are in walking distance. The town was busy in August, but I think this makes it more interesting. The beaches also can get busy, but the sea is wonderful and clear, and great for swimming and snorkeling. The villa was a good base to visit other places, and we enjoyed trips to Pompei, Paestum, Capri, the old town of Castellabate, and other coastal towns such as San Marco and Acciaroli (a nice harbour). We also enjoyed some really good meals in the town.

A great holiday, and we hope we will be able to stay again soon.

Grazie e Arrivederci!

A warm welcome and a great week!

Review Submitted: August 24, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We want to thank Marco and his family for the warm welcome and for the great week we spent at the apartment, for the detailed directions of how to find it and for all the tourist information. We spent a lovely week at Santa Maria di Castellabate and would love to return one day. We loved the beautiful gardens, the swimming pool and the village and beaches. We enjoyed visiting the Castelcivita Grottoes, Agropoli beach, San Marco, Pompei and Vesuvius.
We would definitively love to return and recommend it to friends!
