Casa Margaretha is possibly the best villa we have ever rented.
It is comfortable, well-furnished and well equipped. The garden is delightful and provides a spendid setting for a very high quality pool.
At the time of our visit everything was very well maintained and Casa-care - the company retained by the owners to look after the property and attend to tenants' needs - did all that they should and more.
The surroundings, mainly of open countryside, ensure quietness and a high degree of privacy, conducive to a very relaxed lifestyle.
Sao Bras itself is a very ordinary Portuguese country town lacking any spectacular features and, though it has a number of English speaking restaurants and 3 international supermarkets, is relatively untouched by tourism; and that is its attraction.
We did not go far afield, but enjoyed visiting Loule, Queranca, Estoi, St Barbara en Nexe, Tavira and Olhaio all of which have interesting features but, in September at least, were not over-run with holidaymakers.
We should happily recommend this property to others and should ourselves pay a return visit if we decided to go again to the Eastern Algarve or simply wanted complete relaxation in a 'get away' location which is, however, easily accessible, via Faro, from most UK airports.
A few points to note however:
The pool is not fenced so young children would require close supervision.
Though it would be possible to gain access to the house, which is all on one level, the steps to and from outside terraces really make the property unsuitable for anyone with restricted mobility.
A car is definitely required and, though it is possible to walk into Sao Bras, this involves negotiating a busy ring road intersection without the benefit of any 'crossings' and using roads with no footpaths.
