This is Portugal as it’s meant to be

Just returned from a wonderful holiday in this beautiful unspoilt part of Portugal.
Transfers were a breeze about 35 /40 minutes from Faro airport, the owners supplied excellent directions.
The house we stayed in on Praia Vede was fantastic it’s located on a quiet residential estate.
It is modern and spacious, decoration and fittings were very good quality it feels more like staying in someone’s home than a rental house.
With stunning views from the roof terrace over a nature reserve to the Spanish border and views to the ocean and beach.
A few minutes’ walk will find you on one of the most gorgeous beaches you could wish for, oh and a little beach bar.
The estate has a quality hotel and restaurant a further outside pool with restaurant and bar and other cafe bars.
My wife a keen cook was impressed with the fully fitted kitchen and she made full use exploring the local markets.
Alternatively you can find good quality Portuguese, Chinese, Pizza or even an Indian restaurant all locally
Two good supermarkets and a petrol station are just a few minutes’ away.
There are fantastic drives into the unspoilt countryside lots of small local cafes to catch a mid morning espresso and pastry,
Roman ruins to explore and breathtaking scenery.
Or if you must there is a new shopping centre on the outskirts of the lovely little town of Tavira about 15 20 minutes away.
I think a car is essential for this location.
I would heartily recommend this house and area to families and couples don’t expect a hectic night life though this is Portugal as it’s meant to be. When can we go again?

Fantastic resort area and a great house and base to stay!
The area is outstanding for natural beauty. Wonderful beaches and views to die for. We had a great time ambling through the forest and finishing off the walk in one of the beachside restaurants or cafes.
The house is just great and very spacious and well equipped.
Would definately recommend it

Beachside Heaven

Review Submitted: October 18, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
What a wonderful holiday!! We found the house spacious and comfortable with all the facilities we could need, nicely furnished and clean. The views from the terraces were fantastic, and, with just a couple of minutes walk down to the beach and the very good restaurant there, it was perfect for us.

Praia Verde also has a nice cafe doing good food during the day and early evening and the handy shop was great for fresh bread every morning. Overall we had a wonderful time and would definitely return to the villa and recommend it to friends!

Casa Serena

Review Submitted: June 16, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Excellent house and setting literally a 2 minute walk from a beautiful unspoilt beach. House is clean, airy, spacious and very well equipped and maintained. We particularly enjoyed eating our meals up on the terrace which is 2 flights up. Setting very peaceful. You need a car for shopping as out of season as none of the small shops within the resort are open. We really enjoyed the Cafe Venezuela on the resort and the restaurant on the beach 'Pezinhos na Areia'. In addition the restaurant 'Panoramic' is also worth a visit, we were surprised how reasonable it was and the choice of food was more eclectic, the view as the name suggests is amazing. Vila Real de Santo Antonio is worth a visit, as is Cacela Velha and Tavira. Finally we found the owners very helpful and would recommend this property, in fact this was our second visit. Nela and Simon
Owner's Response: Many thanks for the positive feedback. So pleased you enjoyed your stay for a second time - we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Best wishes Phil & Jean.

Good wintertime base

Review Submitted: February 27, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
The house was very good equiped and easely to stay in with 2 adult couples. The view of the top was beatifull, night and day. The location was close to the beach and woods which invites us to make nice walks.
We understand from the locals that the weather was never that bad the last 10 years, but comparing to the Netherlands we are not complaining. We all had a wonderfull winterbrake at the Praya Verde.

Owner's Response: Winter breaks are not always reliable for the weather, but despite the rain we are pleased you liked the house, the beach and forest and enjoyed your holiday. Many thanks.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Casa Serena, we know the area very well as we have being there a number of times, but our first time to stay in such a wonderful spacious property. It has everything you require to make your holiday, if you get the good weather you are laughing, beach and pool are on your door step. The property itself is of a very high standard and we certainly will go back and recommend it to our friends. Lovely restaurants around food is nearly too good suffering now to fit into my clothes!

'We had the most wonderful holiday at Casa Serena. What a little piece of paradise! The house was really lovely...we particularly enjoyed the terrace...perfect weather..superb food' Margo Glentworth.
'I thought I would just write to say how much we enjoyed staying at your house in Praia Verde. It was much bigger than we had realised and very well furnished. It was also ideally situated, just as you had said, and being able to walk to the beach was wonderful. The beach was also fantastic and I am amazed at how relatively undeveloped the area is, considering how beautiful it is and how warm the sea was - unlike our first week on the other side of Faro which was so cold you couldn't even paddle! It was good to be among the Portuguese and we enjoyed exploring the towns around when it was too hot in the afternoons to do much.' Zozi Goodman.
