Villa Cabasse

Rod and Joy Norfolk, England
Review Submitted: September 2, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We had a lovely relaxing holiday here. The house is clean, spacious and comfortable, with a high level of equipment. We particularly appreciated the air conditioning, internet access and satellite tv. The garden is very peaceful and beautifully set out, with shade always available for al fresco eating and plenty of space for sunbathing too.

The village is just a few minutes walk away, and is rather charming. You can get bread and basic supplies here, though bread and croissants etc. are also available from a car which comes past the house each morning. There are several bars, a restaurant and a pizza takeaway too. The church has interesting artifacts inside, but is now only open on Tuesdays.

In the local area there are several other small villages worth exploring, including Le Luc, Carcès, Besse and Cotignac. If you like walking there is plenty here too. You can walk from the house and be surrounded by vineyards in a few minutes. A little further takes you to the Dolmen de la Gastée. On the way there a black squirrel and a wild boar were spotted. Also nearby you can walk through shady woodland along the shore of the Lac de Carcès.

For food shopping there is a Leclerc hypermarket (with fuel) at Le Luc and another at Brignoles, both are about a 15 minute drive from the house. There are markets in the local villages most days, Carcès also has an evening market in summer on Thursdays.

We made many excursions further afield, and would recommend the following as well worth the drive: Cassis - beach and boat trip to see the Calanques; Sainte-Maxime - beach and boat trip to see some of the luxury villas around St. Tropez; Grasse - free tour of a perfume factory; Antibes - beaches, Picasso museum, lovely old town; Vence - Chapelle du Rosaire - designed by Matisse; Saint Paul - the Fondation Maeght - an amazing art experience; Toulon - cable car ride and an interesting zoo; Gorges du Verdon - fantastic scenery, though a long and windy drive; La Londe - a brilliant tropical bird park which we had almost to ourselves.

In summary a great house in a great location. You could happily spend your whole time lazing on the patio, or if you are prepared to drive then you will find much to enjoy here.

We were delighted to be able to stay at Villa Cabasse - the Villa is very tasteful with a modern feel to it, whilst managing to maintain a traditional air about it. It's location is beautifully tranquil whilst being very well placed for trips to neighbouring towns/cities - car is definitely essential though.
Would definitely recommend it to family and friends!

This cottage is absolutely the most comfortable well maintained cottage we have stayed in during our several trips to France. It is a real home away from home.It was well presented and spotlessly clean. The back patio is very private with lovely views making it a great place to relax. Cabasse village is just a few minutes walk and has a nice little bakery and a couple of inexpensive restaurants. The supermarkets at Brignoles and Le Luc ( about 15 minutes drive ) are very good. The cottage is an easy drive from pretty villages and not far from the coast. Gorges du Verdon is worth seeing. Stop at the little village of Entrecasteaux on the way. A trip to Sainte-Maxime and Saint Tropez are well worth it too.
We would definitely recommend this property to friends.

If you are looking for somewhere that feels like home, but has the added bonus of good weather and an amazing location, then villa cabasse is the place to be.
Waking up in the morning the sun coming through the windows this we have to say was so perfect.
The villa was first class one of the best places we have stayed, clean and so homely, the patio was the perfect place to sit in the evening with a nice glass of wine.
The village itself was good; the locals were welcoming, it had the usual array of a shop, couple of bars and restaurant ideal for a peaceful time away, if you required any additional shopping Le Luc provided a good range of shops and a good supermarket where the prices were not too bad.
The location was a great base for sightseeing, but you do need a car, but with so much within the local area and further afield you cannot complain.
The owners Liz and Jeff are the ideal couple if you need anything you just need to ask. We have already booked another week later in the year and have already told our family and friends, but to be quite honest we are now wishing that we hadn’t, this place we have to say is so special to us, we have totally fallen in love with villa cabasse and hope to visit for many a year to come.

Thank you so much Liz and Jeff you have the perfect getaway.

Villa Cabasse

Frodo's friend Poitou Charentes, France
Review Submitted: April 20, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We have stayed in a very wide range of gites over a 20 year period, and have even run our own gite in Poitou Charentes for 6 years, so we know a bit about the business. I can safely say that Villa Cabasse is the best equiped and most comfortable we have ever stayed in. It really felt like a home, full of lots of nice touches and tasteful decor. The patio is delightful and even though April was unseasonally wet, it was warm enough to sit under the verandah and enjoy being outside.
Cabasse as a town is a little limited, but has some really pretty little corners (like the square with La Poste and the fountain) but is well placed to get to the coast (if you must) and even better for inland Provence - the Gorges du Verdon are a must - and the vineyards. But a car is absolutely essential.

Stay at Villa Cabasse

Derek and Pat Birmingham, UK
Review Submitted: October 22, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
Our stay at the Villa Cabasse was all that we hoped for and then more! The owner met us on arrival to welcome us and show us round; the accommodation was clean, spacious and comfortable, with all modern facilities and we soon felt very much at home.
The house surroundings are quiet and peaceful with attractive views, and the garden/patio is ideal for dining, sunbathing etc. even in mid October.
The village shops provide the essentials, the locals were very welcoming and the restaurant we used was splendid - both for quality of food and value for money.
The area is good for sightseeing, particularly the nearby bastide towns and villages, and the spectacular Gorges du Verdon, but it is also a good area for cycling along quiet roads amongst the vineyards. We didn't bother going to the relatively nearby coast, there are plenty of alternatives!
A car is necessary, but I would recommend this property to anyone not needing a bright lights holiday, and we will try to use it again when we next go to Provence.

Villa Cabasse

Villa Cabasse is a wonderfully comfortable house in a beautiful part of Provence. It's the most stylish house we have stayed in in France with quality furnishings and decor. We had wonderful weather but as it was October it was nice to return to the house at the end of the day for relaxing evenings - the Sky channel was a bonus.
The view from the main bedroom over the valley was superb...nice to look at with morning coffee from the comfort of the bed.
We hope to return one day.

We have just returned from the villa and have enjoyed probably our most relaxed holiday ever. The villa has everything you could need and everything looks new and very clean. You do need a car to travel to see the beautiful surrounding area. The village has a couple of shops and bars and is within a couple of minutes walking. You do need a car to get to the local supermarket, which takes about 15 minutes.
We would definitely recommend this villa to anyone and infact are booking to go back next year.

The villa was exceptional with everything you could possibly want. We found the villa very clean and spacious. The owner was there to meet and greet us which provided a really good start to the holiday.

A car is required to tour the area and the village is very quiet in the evenings. You need to travel to find entertainment.

As all the travel guides say, the area is very busy during August.

We would recommend the villa to all.

A vacation to remember

Review Submitted: August 1, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We had a wonderful time in this clean, modern and cosy provencal house! We were 4 adults and one baby and the owner had arranged with both a bed and a chair for the baby. The terrace was a wonderful place to spend our siesta at in the afternoon.

We could (and would) recommend this villa to friends and others!

Thanks again!
