So close to the heart of NYC!

Kerschdl Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany
Review Submitted: November 10, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Our stay in NYC was great - the appartment is very clean, nicely furnished and well equipped. From the appartment, it is only a few seconds to walk to times square, so it is an ideal starting point for all kinds of exciting adventures in Manhattan (shopping, sightseeing and musicals are only three of them!). The underground network is also well reachable (ca. 2 minutes walk to the next station).
What is clear, when you stay so close to the times square, is that you will hear "the city that never sleeps" all through the night (also the 24hours cafe next door is quite loud). Bring ear-plugs for good and relaxing sleep!
Thanks again for the perfect long weekend in NYC - we really enjoyed our stay!
Best regards, Kerstin, Tanja & Maike

One week in the apartment

I would say that the location is excellent.
The proprty was clean but the carpet needed cleaning and the bathroom required decoration and deep cleaning in corners etc.
The service recieved was good. Unfortunately the noise ( we had to buy earplugs) from the traffic starts at six am and continues through to about 9 pm. Yhere is also a new building across the street which will not be complete for two years and the noise started at 7 am to finish at 6 pm.Unfortunately I would not recommend his apartment to anybody until the above issues were sorted. The restuarants attractions were within waliking distance and this area is great.

Not the best

Other than the convient location and the comfy bed, the room had nothing else to offer. There was a mouse in room and when we reported it nothing was done about it. So we told the frontdesk and they said that the caretaker only works Monday-friday, so oh well. There were also bugs throughout the room and room had an awful stale smell. We were also told that an airmattress would be in the room, to which there was not. I would definitely pay the extra money and stay in a hotel where people actually care.

location is perfect

The location is near the main subway and bus terminal at 42nd st and 8th ave. Many great small restaurants to eat at that are extremely affordable. You get more size than a hotel for the same price without constant coming and going of your hotel "neighbors". Apartments have kitchens so eating in is an option as well. Great value and location.

As first time New Yorkers we didn't really know what to expect from a property that was so cheap.
Do not be fooled by the exterior or surrounding neighbourhood, this apartment was the best value of our whole trip to USA.
There is a doorman (or woman depending on the day) which gives you that extra feeling of security.
The bed was incredibly comfortable (and it is hard to impress me) and everything was clean and tidy when we arrived.
There is a laundry on the 2nd floor and a supermarket across the street.
You are a 5 minute walk to the middle of Times Square and a subway station.
We found that the airconditioner needed to be on the whole time we were there as there was no fans and if you opened the window the nosie of the traffic was a little loud.
The aparments are next door to a bus terminal but the noise did not seem to bother us (especially with the a/c on)
Tip of the day....... Befriend the doorman with some gratuity when you arrive, they are very knowledgable and incredibly helpful. Thanks Nate we had the best time looking around your city!

We enjoyed our stay in this studio apartment. The location was excellent as we were within walking distance of Times Square and the Theater District. The Time Square subway station was only a block away so we had easy access to all parts of the City. The studio was clean and comfortable. The property manager (Chris) was immediately available for a small problem we encountered. Probably the biggest drawback was the noise level as this apartment overlooks the 4 lane bus on-ramp to the Lincoln Tunnel. This was not a problem as we did not spend much time in the studio. If you are a light sleeper bring earplugs. Overall, it would be hard to find a better price or location in Manhattan.

This was a great place to stay. Within walking distance of Times Square, Broadway, Central Park, Grand Central, 5th Ave . . . and so many other great places. Owner was great to deal with. All the front desk people were very helpful and friendly. Suite had lots of room for luggage, shopping bags! Bed was really comfortable. I'd definitely recommend this place and I'd stay here again for sure.

This studio was small but well-equipped. Queen bed was most comfortable with lovely linens and four pillows. Kitchenette was well supplied with new coffee maker and toaster. Highway just outside our window, but the AC provided good white noise for sleeping.
Location was excellent - we walked to theatres and great restaurants. Close to subway and buses. Nice little diner on next corner where we had breakfast each morning.
Owner responded immediately to provide 2nd chair and to fix running toilet.
You can't beat the price and the location!
