A relaxing stay in winter(should have been spring!) saved by much swimming in pool and enjoyable walks on fine beaches Overstrand - Sea Palling-Yarmouth. Our lovely friendly hosts chrissy and Keith smoothed our break. A welcome change-we shall return! Foster Family

October weather - Relaxing holiday

Review Submitted: November 3, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Thanks Chrissie and Keith for such wonderful accomodation in a lovely location. Spent many hours in the pool and walking the lovely area. The girls enjoyed the dogs and nearby horses. Went for many drives during the day and spent the evenings reading, playing cards and watching TV (couldn't find the DVD!) in comfort. Would love to come back, in warmer weather, and bring family or friends.

Squirrel Cottage

Had a really lovely week in July. Cottage was very homey with lots of little extras such as milk in the fridge and an array of books to borrow. Pool was great, so close to the cottage and much bigger than expected. Pool house was always warm. Our children loved the friendly dogs and wanted to take them home! Boating at Wroxham was wonderful and we all enjoyed the ghost walk in Norwich. Our hosts were really friendly but not intrusive at all and kindly sent back to us all the many stray items we managed to leave behind!

Great holiday had by all

We chose squirrel cottage mostly for the private use of the swimming pool and hot tub.The accommodation itself was an added bonus,it was very spacious and well maintained. The web site is a very accurate representation of what you get.Keith and Chrissy the owners were very friendly, as were their beautiful dogs. This holiday suited all ages ,from Grandparents to teenagers. Our Daughter has many health issues and squirrel cottage was very accessible for her.As the swimming sessions are private she had a great time, and would probably stayed in all day if she had been able to.The only bad thing about Squirrel cottage was that we only stayed for a week.Would recommend to everyone,as even in high season the rates are very reasonable for the facilities.

Just spent a lovely week at Squirrel Cottage with my 2 children and their grandma. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. Pool and hot-tub were enjoyed by us all. Chrissie and Keith were fabulous hosts and their three lovely dogs provided entertainment for our own dog and the children. The unknown element of the holiday (the weather) was very nearly faultless. All in all we had a wonderful time and will be making a return visit next year. This is a lovely part of the world, very peaceful and relaxing.

Wonderful relaxing cottage

Take some good books and chill. We have just returned from yet another fabulous holiday at Squirrel Cottage. We hadn't been at this time of year before and I have to say that the wildlife visiting the garden was fantastic. The birds were fledging, there were baby sqirrels - who were not so small after we had been feeding them for a week - and even a vixen and her two cubs put in an appearance. One of the fox cubs actually tried to come and join us in the lounge and couldn't understand that there was a glass door in the way. Also muntjac deer visit the main garden on a regular basis. The cottage is very well laid out and has everything you need for a holiday and Chrissy and Keith are very welcoming hosts. The dogs are wonderfully friendly and very well behaved. We have stayed at the cottage quite a few times now in just about every season and have never been disappointed. We view it as our total chill-out zone. If you like to see the antics of the squirrels it is best to take several bags of bird peanuts to feed them each day -well worth it. Taverham Mill is a great nature reserve virtually on the doorstep but it is advisable to take some easily carried chairs with you if you want to enjoy the peace and the wildlife. The are plans in place to have a picnic area but at the moment it really only caters for fishing and walking. Beautiful place. We are staying at the cottage again in July and have already booked for next May, it is so good. Oh and the pool and hot tub are fabulous and most relaxing. A good range of pool toys and accessories are available but we just enjoy the swimming. Dove cottage is almost ready and much more suited to people with more severe disabilities but Squirrel cottage is good for people with some mobility. Children and teenagers would love the pool but would probably want to go out as well. It is a beautifully quiet place. Thank you Chrissy and Keith.

Family Holiday in Norwich

Review Submitted: April 26, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Had a great week. Pool was fab and hot tub a real treat. Lots of kids pool toys already there. Chrissie and Keith were lovely, discreet and helpful hosts. Squirrells and birds galore and can be watched from french windows. (Chrissie put nuts out specially to attract them). Small safe garden for small children. Good local restaurant Black Swan Taste of Oz highly recommend. Lot to see locally. Near Great Yarmouth which has lots to do including Pleasure Beach. Pettits Family Park great value for kids under 10. Play Barn in Aylesham good for wet day. Norfolk Broads and steam train good day out (weather permiting). Africa Alive bit of a let down, not much for kids to do and quite expensive.

Return visit to Squirrel Cottage

Review Submitted: April 18, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
This was our second visit to Squirrel Cottage, and we all enjoyed it as much as our previous visit a year ago. The swimming pool and hot tub are still the high points of the property, and we all enjoyed spending several hours a day in them - particularly the boys.

we went to get away from the world for a long weekend and thats what we did. With supplies we stocked up the cottage and we had no reason to leave. the cottage is so well equiped great for any get away whether it be families couples or friends. The swimming pool was amazing and the hot tub was just perfect. The cottage was soo comfortable and with sky we could watch anything we wanted. It is soo quiet and the squirels and pigeons were great to watch in the back garden. The owners live on the grounds so were close by for any quieries even though everything was so well organized we didnt need to bother them. The owners dogs were so cute especially cassie who loves looking for stones you throw for her. We would definately love to return this time with the kids as they would love the pool with all its inflateables and toys. thankyou for such a relaxing break!

Energetic whilst restful holiday for all ages

Review Submitted: November 5, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
It was a very energetic and active holiday, but is was, at the same time a relaxing, good, solid holiday. These opposites do not often occur together but at Squirrel cottage it is possible. Chrissie and Keith have the perfect recipe; we felt honoured they shared their personal space with us whilst giving us a lot of privacy. Thank you.

Our family really 'came together' and there was much to do for our kids of very different ages; quite times and joyful activity in the pool. And there was so much laughter.
We felt we could easily fit in a swim in the morning and then venture out for a walk on the broads as everything was reasonably close. The waterways and solitude were breathtaking.
We felt that some effort was made to encourage recycling and to be conscientious about the usage of energy. We appreciated this.

We took the time to use the local bus to get into Norwich, doable and it gave us an insight into the area.

We will consider booking again with another family; the kids can be busy in the pool whilst the grown-ups can enjoy a restful chat in the Jacuzzi. The two cottages next to each other do offer the perfect environment for two families to share some time whilst not living in each others pockets.
