Birthday Weekend!

For my 30th Birthday weekend, my 5 friends and I rented this lovely apartment from a local couple. It took forever for me to find the right place for us on the web; i was a little nervous about any scams that could occur while doing this over the internet. But Alice set my mind at ease, we emailed back and forth, we spoke on the phone, she sent the rental agreement and i sent the check. SO SIMPLE!
The pictures of the apartment do not do it justice! Its quaint, comfy, clean, well put together and with all the ammenities you'd really need. We found that the most used and greatest asset to the apartment was the fenced in porch area plus the two balconies upstairs. it gets REALLY chilly at night, but we spent most of our time outside.
The location was absolutely perfect. 3 miles from our friends house and a mile from Venice Beach....without all that Ridiculous Traffic they have up in Hollywood. With a Whole Foods on the next block and parking on the street available, the place was terribly convenient.
It seems that the owners live in an adjoined apartment, i felt confident that they would be available to take care of anything that arose, but nothing did. They were gracious enough to give us an early check-in by 3 hours without a penalty, provided 2 bikes and even left us a bottle of wine as a sweet welcoming.
If I headed out to L.A. again, I would absolutely choose this over staying in a hotel!

My family, which included 2 teenage boys, loved our stay here. The proximity to public transport was good, we were walking distance to Venice Beach and Santa Monica and we were close to shops for the daily essentials. The house had everything we needed and was extremely comfortable. I also found David and Alice to be so very helpful...Alice even offered to taxi me to one of my appointments downtown when I just arrived which was great. Thanks again for a very enjoyable stay.

My husband and I spend wonderful two weeks at this rental. We were happy to find this property on the first place (we live in Santa Monica and due to out-of-town guests who stayed at our apartment, we wanted to rent a vacation home that was close by, clean and comfortable for a good price) and we were really grateful to feel right at home. The moment we walked in, we were welcomed with flowers, card and a bottle of wine as well as a binder full of information what to do in the area. In terms of the details, the property is spacious, with great outdoor patio and balconies, there are lots of windows and light. The place was very clean, including clean sheets and towels; the king bed in the master bedroom was very comfy; we were able to use internet for work and jacuzzi for fun; the parking was available on the street, which we had no problem with; the kitchen was fully equipped; there is a great grocery store and coffee shop right around the corner; the place and the street were not noisy... I can go on and on... This is a very nice place for a great price. Thank you, Alice!!!

it's a very nice house, confortable, not far from the beach of venice, the airport and Santa Monica, with useful stores far only a block; the barbecue in the garden is great; I'll remember this sweet house where I enjoyed nice days

Owner's Response: We are 1/2 a mile from the beach, 5 miles from LAX and 1 block away from Santa Monica. We have a wide arrange of stores nearby for all kinds of shopping. Whole Foods is 1 block away with just about every kind of food you could possibly want.

We spent 5 nights at Alice's place and were delighted. The house is very well equipped, very clean and comfortable. The neighbourhood is quiet and prim. The major routes are easily accessed.
We would definitely recommend staying there for a visit of LA.

Was für ein genialer Start unserer Nordamerika-Reise! Das Haus von Alice und David ist perfekt, wir haben uns von der ersten Minute an wohlgefühlt. Es fehlt an nichts, ist gemütlich und sauber und die Gastgeber sind sehr nett, freundlich und hilfsbereit. Genial sind auch die Fahrräder, die zum Inventar gehören. Damit ist man in 5 min am Strand, der wunderschön ist. Wir haben uns total wohl gefühlt und kommen bestimmt mal wieder.

A really cozy and clean appartement, Alice and David are very kind, friendly and always ready to help. Having four bikes was great fun. This place was fantatsic!! Alice and Dave are two great people and made sure you feel right at home!! What made it even great was the bike rentals we did a bike ride at 12am on Venice and bike ride all the way to pacific palisades! On the beach hearing the ocean on a bike ride everything was fantatstic! And I will say this I will be coming back again because this rental was worth it!!

Owner's Response: We have 4 bikes for your use. Biking is a great option in Venice. If you need more bikes than 4 there are places to rent them in Venice. There are also rentals for surfboards, boogie boards and other beach equipment.
We do have 4 boogie boards, sand toys, games, beach towels and a beach umbrella for you to use too.

Great location for beaches, walking and fun

Great location...walk to the Venice beach in about 15 minutes or drive your car about five minutes and you have parking and facilites/restaurants at the Santa Monica Pier and beach; Whole Foods is just around the corner as are restaurants. We felt safe walking around everywhere.
The property is clean and well-maintained...plenty of videos and boardgames for entertainment, flowers and wine upon arrival...the owners make it seem like a home away from home. We enjoyed the quiet patio for breakfast (wonderful weather and no bugs). They provided two bicycles and beach/toys,towels and umbrella.
The off- street parking was a concern, but not a problem.

Street parking is available, we have had no problems with it. We do have street cleaning on Mon. and Tues 8AM - 10AM so for a few hours parking is only on one side of the street.

hey the westside boyz skate board krew just stayed jun13 jun21 and it was the best stay we ever hade the house was worth way more then we payed and axcess to the real venice was what we really loved it was so clouse to the beach and to west hollywood we were near all the greatest skate spots in the world.

Owner's Response: This was a great group of young skateboarders from Albquerque, NM. It was a delight to host them while they explored the LA skate scene. We hope to host them again in the near future! Venice is building a premier skateboard park down on the beach front that will be open in about a months time. Come and try it for yourself or just take a look at these amazing athletes.

We visited this lovely rental last summer and it was a wonderful quiet place. Plenty of ocean breezes to keep you cool day and night. The place was recently constructed and very comfortable. The amenities are really nice and the owners really put some thought into what you might need. I really don't think the pictures do it justice--it is much nicer!!!! This is the place to decompress and find yourself again.
There is a wonderful park right behind the unit which is great for kids and a picnic. My kids loved it and it was sooo nice that the park was just ten steps away. There is also a Whole Foods right around the corner and some really tasty restaurants and coffee houses within walking distance. My kids really loved the donut shop at the corner of Rose and Lincoln--we might go back just for the donuts. The beach is great and don't miss the Venice Beach Ocean Front Walk and the Santa Monica Pier. This was a great location to serve as a base camp to go out on our day trips.
The owners are very nice people and very helpful. I will most definitely return and I have already started telling my friends about the place.

Owner's Response: The park mentioned in the review is literally right next door. It has lots of playground equipment as well as a large green space for a good game of catch or football.
