Wonderful!

We had a fabulous time in St. John and Perelandra was definitely part of the reason why. The home is beautiful, well appointed and in a perfect location. We enjoyed the deck so much! We ate breakfast and dinner out there every day. In the morning we were dining with the fun bananaquits and at night we were dining with the stars. We didn't eat a single dinner out, no restaurant could have a more perfect view than we did at "home"! Perelandra did become home quickly. It is so well taken care of and you can tell there is definite pride of ownership here. I'm a stickler for cleanliness and this place was immaculate. The pool is awesome! We swam several times a day, the evening swims were the best. Nothing like floating and being lost in a starry sky. It is very private so we felt like we were on our own island. The landscaping is gorgeous too, we watched hummingbirds flutter around the bouganvillea every day. I highly recommend this villa, you won't be disappointed. I wish I could have rated this a perfect 5 but there were just a couple reasons I didn't. First, there is a large construction project going on just down the road. We were gone for the bulk of every day so the noise didn't bother us too much, although the workers parked their jeeps/trucks just off the driveway of Perelandra so it made getting out in the morning a little tough. The second reason is that the villa has a/c only in the bedrooms. That may be fine for some people, I thought it would be fine for us, but it wasn't. After being out on a beach baking all day it would have been so nice to come home and be able to cool off. When we were in for the night, it was very uncomfortable to sit and try and watch tv because we were just so overheated. The units in the bedrooms worked great though. This may not be as big a deal during other times of the year, or if the weather was different. It was very warm while we were there and there were no breezes coming through the villa at all. If you tolerate the heat well this won't be an issue for you in the least. The owners are wonderful to work with and truly want you to have a great time. We had a week that was magical and we'll live off the memories for a long, long time.
Owner's Response: Thanks to all my past guests for their reviews. They're so right; we really do want all of our guests to have a fantastic time and to fall in love with Perelandra and the magical island of St. John the way we did several years ago.
We always call our visits to Perelandra our "marriage insurance" (term borrowed from a travel forum poster a long time ago); all relationships need that injection shot of romance and peace.
I did want to address the issues of the construction vehicles and the great room not having a/c. Sirenusa is the name of the project and personally we hate it. The units are just about done and, I do have to admit, beautiful. But they have not always respected the property owners near them as they promised. We have artfully placed some huge rocks near us to dissuade their parking near our property but obviously we need more. Which we will do when we are there next week. BTW, you absolutely can not see the project at all (Perelandra is very private) and, personally, we haven't heard any noise the last few times we were there (and neither have our guests as far as we know until this comment) but it is NOT at all rock-blasting noise but perhaps daytime hammering associated with interior carpentry work? Didn't think you could hear that but I'll update you honestly when we return.
Re: the GR a/c, we 1st need to replace the 2 screened french doors with sliding doors which we plan to do in September. Again, I'll keep you posted on our progress.
Thank you again to all my guests, who may not have posted but may read this, many of whom are repeaters. I'm so overjoyed with all the wonderful people I've had the opportunity to meet over the 5 years we've owned and rented out Perelandra (bought from the builder 5 1/2 years ago). I feel like so many of them are unseen, yet treasured, friends. It really has encouraged us as to the state of the world around us--so MANY good people...
Cynthia
