BRILLIANT LOCATION AND APARTMENT

Review Submitted: December 16, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2009
Can not find any fault with this apartment we rented at all. The lady we dealt with Elle was extremley helpful, was always on time and even had to put up with us being a litle drunk on arrival!!!
The location is fantastic, sub way not far at all for an unlimited 7 day pass of $27, which is good if you have a group of ten like us.
The apartment was clean, and very spacious for ten people. I would certainly recommend this apartment to anyone going as a large group or family.

The property was a great fit for my girlfriends and I for our East Coast get away. Conveniently located in TriBeCa, near some city hot spots.
Elle was fabulous from the beginning, with booking the loft, meet & greet, hospitality and easily able to be reached.
I would definitely come back to this particular loft. You really feel like you're a part of NYC staying here.

Fantastic location, apartment very large with all conforts. (washing machine, etc..) located in a perfect position near Ground Zero, Hudson River, Soho and China town. very close to the Metro, 4th floor quiet.
Owner was very kind with us, he helped us to solve small logistic problems, and was always available.
thank you very much, we hope to come back soon.

Terrible Experience

jdub Washington, DC
Review Submitted: October 22, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Frankly I'm shocked to read the previous reviews. I have never had such a terrible experience with a hotel or rental during the many travels I've had.

First of all, the apartment my group was given as our rental was definitely not the one in the pictures. It was generally the same layout (leading me to believe we were given another similar unit in the same building) but was not recently renovated, did not have marble in both bathrooms (one of the bathrooms has only a shower not a tub/shower combo) and the kitchen layout is completely different as well, not to mention unattractive and ill equipped.

Second of all, the place was very dirty. Upon arriving for what was supposed to be my cousin's birthday celebration weekend in New York we found ourselves doing laundry, buying towels (as there were only 6 for a place that "sleeps 8-10"), toilet paper and laundry detergent and wiping down filthy countertops and tables. And the dishes and silverware are almost unmentionable.

After a walk to Chinatown our first afternoon in the city, and after doing a few loads of laundry, we arrived back to the apartment to find a pushy "realtor" and "possible tenant" walking around the unit. Not once were we informed that random people would be in the apartment unattended with our belongings. Instead of apologizing the "realtor" acted as if we were crazy for our concerns.

Finally, as if all of this wasn't enough, the owner/landlord informed us on our last day/night in the unit that we owed her an additional and substantial amount of money not noted in our agreement. After trying to explain that we had numerous emails proving what was owed and that we had indeed paid our agreed upon fees she immediately gave us the ultimatum of "pay up or get out".

If anything we were owed money back or at the very least a discount for having to clean the unit, restock it with essential toiletries and purchase absent items that had been noted in the listing.

Renting this apartment ended up ruining what was supposed to be a relaxing long weekend for my friends and family and definitely not the way to celebrate your birthday.
Owner's Response: I have been managing vacation rentals for the last 5 years and this was the ONLY HORRIBLE experience I ever had with a renter. Upon arrival Renter said that they dont have full rent amount and I have to comeback to pick up rent - previously I made it clear to a client that full amount of rent MUST be paid upon arrival. Despite the fact that I had not received any money I still let them check in and gave them keys. Renter inspected apartment and said everything looked great. Also I let the client check in a few hours before official check in time and I waved all extra charges. Later that day I was trying to get in touch with a client to coordinate time for rent payment but renter was obviously avoiding me and wasn't at the apartment at the agreed time.
Next day I received a phone call from renter complaining regarding cleanliness of the apartment, etc - and asking to negotiate the rent. I pointed out that why this complaint is brought up 24 hours after check in and inspection of the apartment upon check in, but client insisted on negotiating the rent. Finally we set up a meeting and client paid only for 2 days out of 3 days reserved, saying that they changed their mind and need apartment only for 2 nights. I warned client that I will be forced to keep their security deposit for the 3rd night. Client threatened with a lawsuit and bad feedback on Homeaway. Never filed a lawsuit but here it is a bad feedback on Homeaway website. On website it clearly states that all reservations must be 3 nights minimum, and if I have known that client only needed apartment for 2 nights and not 3 as they mentioned and made reservation for I would have never accepted their reservation. Plus it was a weekend reservation, when 3 nights is a must.
Apartment is thoroughly professionally cleaned between the guests and I always welcome previews of the apartment by your friends or family that live in NY before you make a reservation.
As I mentioned above - this is the worst experience I ever had. All of my clients always have great time staying in the apartment and they do comeback and refer their friends and family.

Excellent Apartment

Review Submitted: September 28, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Have just returned home from a very enjoyable week, staying with family and friends - could have stayed another week!!
This well maintained apartment exceeded our expectations, with more space than we required and everything that we needed (and more) in the kitchen and bathrooms - lots of clean towels etc - although there was also excellent washing facilities.
A great downtown location 5 minutes walk from the Brooklyn Bridge, Ground Zero and for shopping you have Century 21 to name but a few. There are numerous subway stations (really easy to use) in the vicinity, to take you to all the well known uptown attractions that Manhattan has to offer.
I would certainly stay in this apartment again, and would recommend it to family & friends.
Thanks to Elle for all her assistance with our booking & stay. Staying here definitely added to the enjoyment of our first visit to New York.

Tribeca Loft - Chambers & Broadway

CamO Melbourne Austalia
Review Submitted: September 2, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
This apartment was a really great place for a larger group to stay.

The individual bedrooms were clean and spacious, and allowed privacy even when in a large group. There was basic cupboard storage and Ikea double beds with lamps in all rooms.

Having two bathrooms meant no major issues in getting ready - essential when that many people living together.

The main living space was open, light filled and spacious and had all the amenities you needed to be able to cook and prepare meals at home if you wanted.

The location was handy, easy to catch cabs from the nearest cross road and not too far from the lively areas. Was close the Brooklyn Bridge and Staten Island Ferry for touristy activity and about 15 mins walk to Soho for food and drink.

Subway station less than 5 mins walk, and never felt unsafe in the area.

A couple of negatives were:
Musty building - foyer and lift
Raucus neighbours - smoking and playing loud music on a couple of occasions over the 7 day stay
Really noisy floorboards from apartment above meant you could hear all upstairs movement - sometimes late at night stomping about.

However I would certainly recommend the place to a group looking for somewhere clean, convenient and comfortable to stay when in New York.

A property fit for walk lovers & subway users

Thag Aquitaine, FRANCE
Review Submitted: April 27, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
The property was as described in the Homeaway site:
It is extremely well located. We were able to either walk down to Ground Zero & Wall Street or improvise a return walk on Brooklin Bridge at night.
In the meantime 3 subway lines were bringing us directly to Harlem for a Gospel experience or to Times Square, Rockfeller Center, Central Park, etc...plus a profusion of shops & places for lunch or dinner (Chinatown also at 10mn walk)
A large appartment for 10 people with all the equipment necessary for visitors (wash & dish machines, dryer, microwave,...)
The owner was easily reachable & provided a good customer service, before, during and after the staying period.
The property was clean enough and beds were very comfortable even for "demanding-sleepers"
I will definitely recommand this property to relatives & friends. Have no hesitation, it is a perfect alternative especially for a large family in comparison with staying in an hotel where they don't have breakfast services.
