Exactly what we expected

Frans and Johannes Amsterdam, The Netherlands

After reading the description and positive reviews of this property we had no nasty surpises: La Sienna was a perfect base for our 8 days in NYC. The friendlyness and hospitality of Yvette and the attendant certainly exeeded all our expectations! The two times we asked for something is was promptly delivered and several times we were given delicious cakes.
A major asset of this place is the short distance to 125th Street, where express trains of all subwaylines stop, as well as to Central Park and Columbia University. We were fascinated to experience the change going on in Harlem and always felt safe, also late at night, walking back from the subway.
We would certainly reccommend La Sienna to friends.

The owner was amazingly kind, and everything needed for a comfortable stay, was supplied (even an umbrella and an iron!). I would definitely go back, I don't see how a hotel could be better.

Great Stay in Harlam

We spent quite a while shopping around for somewhere to stay in New York and were so happy here! From the hot muffins when we arrived to the late checkout for our flight, we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Yvette is lovely, proffessional and genuine. The room we stayed in had a real warmth to it. The bed was super comfy, the kitchen well equipped and everything was clean. The room also had a lovely smell that we enjoyed coming home to after a long day sightseeing . We would recommend this apartment to anyone, especially at such a good price for New York.

So, I travel every week and I have stayed in hundreds of places, from dumps to 5-star hotels. I now, I am doing something I have never done...write a review. This place and Yvette were wonderful! I hesistant to write something because I want to use it again but here it is. The place was very clean, comfortable and I felt the comforts of home. Here was the big wow; on my last night there at about 11pm I happend to see Yvette taking out her trash. She asked me how things were and if I would suggest she make any changes. In passing I said a face would be nice next time (since I was leaving in several hours I did not expect much from it). Much to my surprise, when I returned there was a nice bag on the door with a fresh face towel. When I come back I will certainly be staying here!

AMAZING!

I absolutely HATE giving an EXCELLENT Review on this place because I don't want EVERYONE to come and take all of the availability! ;-) My entire visit from the very start (I actually arrived an hour earlier than planned & was welcomed without question!) & this place is awesome! Their are accommodations for everyone here-whether a small group, couples or solos like myself. I stayed in the studio pictured above (& the pictures do NOT even catch the awesomeness of this studio!). I viewed the entire property & all the accommodation choices with my favorite being the 2 studios (one in the front of the home - which I stayed & felt like a part of Harlem) & a studio in the rear of the house that over-looked the manicured lawn & garden with water features - how therapeutic is that?!? Yvette was wonderful & baked me fresh peanut-butter chocolate cupcakes (my absolute favorite- how did she know?). The bed was so divine & I felt like I was sleeping on a big pillow! I cannot even go on to explain all of the comforts & cleanliness & genuine hospitality that I received. I was left alone for my privacy but yet did not feel isolated as I was able to contact Yvette if I needed anything (of which I didn't need a thing!). I didn't want to leave & guess I should have just extended my vacation for the remainder of the week now looking back. I am looking forward to returning for a much longer stay and hope that one of the two studios are available! Also, my front studio had 2 floor-to-ceiling double-doors to the entrance. The house is in the process of being completed restored to it's original pristine condition. Yvette is so knowledgeable about the home and when I expressed my interest in her home & architecture she even showed me that she still has some of the original door-hinges! WOW! As you can tell, I was very much impressed and still am. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! 2 blocks to the A Train or the Bus....and just a few more blocks to Central Park and it's a great walk! I can't imagine anyone NOT loving this place as well as Yvette! One last note, my flight departed late in the evening and since no one was arriving for my studio that very night, Yvette allowed me to keep my luggage in her home! It meant alot & allowed me an entire day without having to wheel my luggage all over NYC before my flight home. Lastly, if you fly into LaGuardia, you can take the M60 bus to within 2 blocks of the place for only $2.00! Very safe & Fun! Ty - South Beach.

There are two studios at La Sienna... I stayed in the one at the rear of the house overlooking the back yard and would recommend it to anyone wanting a fully self contained, roomy apartment for their NYC stay.

The self contained studio was spacious, clean and had a lovely feel to it. I entered the studio to find beautiful fresh roses and other flowers, freshly baked chocolate cup cakes (yum!), a fruit plate, real coffee and milk. Outstanding!

The owner was great, checking to make sure I had everything I needed several times during my 2 week stay (I did). The apartment was serviced at the end of the first week.

The apartment is about 2 blocks from 125th Street metro, which makes it convenient for getting around.

I'd absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking for self contained accommodation in NYC.

This apartment was beautiful and clean and very peaceful. Soft, fluffy towels (brand new even!), tivo, easy access to the 2/3 and the 6 trains to get downtown. And the best part? The chocolate peanut butter cupcakes waiting for us! Comfy bed, very quiet neighborhood, and reasonable rates. Not to be missed.

Awesome Bed and Breakfast

Patino New York, NY
Review Submitted: March 26, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
This place was a great deal for the price. The studio is pristine and the hostess was very attentive to every detail in terms of both the room and being accommodating to our needs.

Upon arrival there were fresh linens on the bed and Egyptian cotton towels provided for myself and my girlfriend. The owner was getting ready to make a batch of chocolate cupcakes that were absolutely delicious. Also waiting in the room was a fruit bowl, cereal bars and coffee. She went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable during our stay and I was consistently impressed with the level of professionalism, customer service and comfort provided by La Sienna.

I would very easily recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay near the city at a great price with all the amenities of any high quality bed and breakfast.

As a fellow New Yorker going through the dreaded renovationsat my place I was fortunate enough to get a last minute reservation. I was greeted with a warm smile and fresh chocolate peanut butter bread (mercy me). The pictures do not do justice to this place of paradise. The neighborhood was quiet (surprising in New York). Extremely clean and the character of the building is amazing. Tall tin ceilings. Traveling was very convenient. The caretaker was very nice and accomodating. During my stay I was sick for two days and they checked up on me and brought over some warm tea and soup (whoa I may not be leaving). Definitly coming back.
