Do yourselves a real favour and visit one of the greatest cities in the world, Roma. Be warned though, Roma demands a lot of energy so escape easily to the countryside and relax in Villa Stelaria. We loved it!

Have just returned from a week vacation at Villa Stelaria, we wish to thank Giulian for providing the most beautiful and well maintained holiday base. Ideal for families & groups of friends alike. A peaceful retreat after a hard days sightseeing in Rome. We will certainly be wishing to come back in the future, and will be telling friends ... Thanks once again.

Villa Stellaria

Super property in a good location, exactly as described. The villa is in a lovely quiet area, overlooking hills but has a surprisingly big supermarket just a couple of kilometres away. The centre of Rome is easily and cheaply accessible; after a 10 minute drive to Montebello station (parking 1.50 Euros for the day) we got the train and Metro to Rome (1 Euro). The amenities were very good; the air conditioning in the bigger bedroom was very welcome, the internet connection was useful, the quantity of kitchen crockery and utensils was brilliant. The villa was very clean and well-maintained and the owner was extremely helpful and friendly but never obtrusive. It was wonderful doing all the sights of Rome and then returning to the tranquility of Villa Stellaria to read or have a dip in the pool. Highly recommended.

A gorgeous villa in the countryside

We spent a lovely week in villa Stellaria with our four children of 4 to 17 years. The garden with a private pool is a really nice and well kept place with lots of lovely plants and flowers. Also the house itself is well equipped, tidy and cosy. Our 4-year-old loved to play with toys she found there. The host Giuliana was extremely friendly and we got lots of useful information from her. One of the good points is that you don`t need a car to get to Rome, buses to the train station go frequently just 200 meters from the house. In Sacrofano you can feel the genuine Italian atmosphere without loads of tourists... We want to recommend very warmly the villa Stellaria!

Quiet haven, warm welcome

An ideal base for people wishing to sightsee around the area as well as make trips into Rome. Giuliana is a wonderful, unobtrusive host. Being met at Rome airport after a long flight was a real bonus for for our family of two adults and three children aged 6, 4 and 1. The garden is wonderful for children who are not always as enthusiastic about sightseeing as their parents.

The apartment is spotlessly clean, warm and has everything one needs.

The walk to the busstop takes less than five minutes.

What a nice place

What a great place to stay:
- great location
+ if you're by car, just a short drive to a train station from which you can reach the center of Rome easily;
+ but there's also a bus stop just up the road that'll get you there as well;
- small, but nice swimming pool in a lovely garden with terrace overlooking a beautiful valley;
- clean and well equipped apartment;
- lots of good information about sites that are worth visiting, provided by the owners: Giuliana and Luigi.

The nearby town of Sacrofano offers all you need for a day-to-day stay, like supermarket, bakery, restaurants. You should eat at least once at "Da Tonino's" restaurant. Great food in a warm, welcoming and very Italian atmosphere.

Because of the upstairs position of the apartment, it's not suitable for those who have trouble walking.

Lovely location for Rome and surrounds

My family - 2 adults 3 children - enjoyed a lovely 2 weeks here in August 2007. More modern than we expected and well equipped. Largest room was very spacious with a mezzanine floor and air conditioning which helped the children sleep. Private pool and lovely garden was superb to relax in. Pool not large enough for a serious swim, but plenty of room for us all to have fun and cool down.

Day trips into Rome very easy. We also went to Pompeii which was well worth the 3 hour trip each way. Other more local attractions included the old town of Bracciano and Tarquinia with its Etruscan tombs. Sacrofano itself was small but had good amenities - bank, post office, supermarket and lovely bakers.

We s pent a great week at villa Stellaria. Giuliana and her husband were so welcoming and helpful with anything we needed. The villa had everything we needed as advertised. It had a beautiful outdoor area also. The flowers in the garden were lovely and the smell from the jasmine heavenly! We would highly recommend this property. It is very convenient for Rome city, just a train journey.

Maginificant place

Review Submitted: May 26, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
What to say about this magnificent place and when I say magnificent I mean both Villa Stellaria and Sacrofano. If you choose to stay here you get to experience several things at the same time. Location is perfect. You get to be close enough to Rome and yet be in a quiet place which reminds you of a beautiful italian village. If u rent a car, recommended if you want to visit places near by, especially Lake Bracciano, then it takes approximately 35 minuttes to be in Piazza del Popolo. I used some 10 minutes to drive half way to the nearest metro station Montobello (was not crazy to try to drive through Rome). Here you park your car (it costs 2 euros for all day) and you get the metro train which will bring you to Flamina station in about 15 minutes. From there you just cross the road and here you are in Piazza del Popolo and for that matter all Rome :). If don't rent a car, from the villa (some 200 metres up) there is a buss station and the buss will take you all the way to Montobello metro station. From here you can visit Lake Bracciano-30 min drive. You can visit Trevignano, place with a fantastic promenade. You can visit Bracciano and Odelsachi castle. And then continue to drive along the lake and you will come to the fabulous place called Anguillara. If you have seen Everybody Loves Raymond series, Italian episodes were recorded here. There are a variety of restaurants in Sacrofano. We visited several and we were pleased with all of them. I specially recommend Il Grotino, and the one next to Grotino. The food is perfect and not overpriced at all. Villa Stellaria has a high standard and yet has the charm of traditional Italian architecture that we all want to experience. It is so quiet there, it is so pleasant to sleep, very pleasant just to sit on the veranda or close to fantastic pool. The standard of villa, location and everything else is far better than what the owner has managed to illustrate. It is simply a perfect place to live during your holiday.The hostess, Guliana, is so kind and helpful. She will give you the best tips of when and what to visit, what is the safest and closet way to reach your destination and what are the best and yet affordable restaurants to visit. Nonetheless, she will provide you with all the help you need during your stay. All in all we had a fantastic stay in this Villa and it is highly recommended for several reasons outlined above. We had the holiday of our life here, and we will most certainly visit this place again.

The Eternal City,
Loved the whole experience of Rome, apart from the driving !! Villa Stelaria was a cosy and relaxing place to return to after the hustle and bustle of Rome. It easily accomodated the five of us. Giuliana was most welcoming and very helpful, her English was far superior to my Italian. The village of Sacrofano was both pleasant and welcoming, just like our experience at Villa Stelaria. We would all love to return in the near future.

Excellent base for visiting Rome

Review Submitted: May 24, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this villa. We were welcomed by the owner as though we were old friends and she gave us much useful information about places to visit. We would recommend hiring a car to get to the new station (just a five minute drive away) where you can catch the frequent train to Rome - an extremely cheap journey, 1 euro each way for a 40 minute ride! It is difficult to walk anywhere from the Villa as there are no pavements and the roads are windy.

You could also take a break from pounding Roman pavements and drive up to the thermal spa open-air swimming pool at Viterbo to relax in the really warm water -a highlight of our trip!

The villa was spotlessly clean and well-equipped.
The bedrooms are laid out as follows: one with a double bed on a mezzanine platform (with restricted head-height) and two single beds below, and the other with double bed and doors opening out on to the garden.

We spent five long days in Rome and still didn't see all of its treasures. The villa was the perfect place to retreat to each evening.

Looking forward to visiting again.
