Can't say enough about this place. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Owner should take more pictures of interior, as the main bedroom & 2nd "living room" are very large. It was nice to be able to chat amongst us adults in one large living room and the children were quite content watching a video in the other. Clean home, all the necessities, gas grill for cooking the fish we caught in the pond, it was truly a great experience. All the comforts of home and very affordable for all that you get! We are already making plans to come back next year, but later in the season because the rain put a bit of a damper on our trip...but that was our fault. We were very lucky to have found this place.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words. It's always a pleasure meeting nice people like you and your family. A reminder that we do offer a discount to our repeat renters. Let us know early when you begin making your plans for next year.

2nd year in a row with 4 kids aged 9-17. This time we doubled our length of stay. Cannot say enough about this place for a family. Relax by the pond, drive to nearby attractions, retire to the nice big living rooms, save money by grilling and eating in the kitchen. Owner is great and accomodating. And I now cannot complain about the trains becuase without them it would alter the charm and experience. Look for the 3rd installment of Fredguy reviews right here in 2010.

Wonderful setting for a large family

We were actually a little hesitant at first because of the layout and proximity of the train tracks but we all ended up LOVING the place and enjoying the trains too. The pond was great fun for fishing, we caught bass and bluegill throughout the day! The house was big and clean, great for a large family. The washer and dryer were great to have as well. There is a nice big grill and large kitchen area with two big tables for larger gatherings. The owner of the property could not have been nicer and more willing to please. Our children loved the place and felt immediately at home! Lake Erie is but a short 5 minute drive, Sandusky and Cedar Point just about 15 minutes away. We had a blast!

Good Value

The owner couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating. House was very clean and had all ammenities (I don't think there is a Queen bed, though...I think all 3 were Doubles). Was put off by the frequent and noisy trains and close proximity of the other homes, but the kindness of the owner offset those disappointments. The kids had a blast and there was plenty to do in the area. Would come again (but would pack some earplugs next time).
Owner's Response: Thank you for your 5-star rating. We're happy you had such a good time and that you enjoyed the home. With regard to the bedding accommodations, the main bedroom does house a queen bed. The two full-sized beds are upstairs. We also noticed the train traffic during your stay. It was excessive at that time due to the replacement of track 42 miles away. When the track was completed, the railroad ran unusually hard in order to catch-up before the holiday. There is confusion, however, with regard to the comment of the closeness of other homes. The nearest home is our other property, which is 200 feet away to the south and an empty lot is between them. There are no homes to the north or east, it sits 150 feet back from the road, and the homes across the road to the west can not be seen from the property due to bushes and trees. We agree the property is a great value, especially for all of the ammenities that are there and when compared to other rentals in the area. Our renters have also positively commented on the property's central location with close and easy access to the beach (3/4 mi), Cedar Point entrance (5.5 mi), and a main highway (1 mi). Each season we have added a little something more; thus the reason we have been fortunate to have many families return year after year. We offer discounts to repeat renters and look forward to accommodating your family again.

Very comfortable, clean house

My husband and I stayed here last summer and really enjoyed it. The owner is very nice and not at all intrusive. The house is large, clean and has plenty of beds, but with only one bathroom, it might feel "crowded" if you go with a group. Plenty of privacy, although it was a little noisy for my taste as it is closer to the road and other houses than I had expected, and a railroad track runs along one side of the property (you get used to the trains after a couple of days). Two TVs with cable, but no DVD player or drip coffeemaker, so you might want to take those items. Convenient to restaurants, Cedar Point, Sandusky, etc. You could fish in the pond, and I think it would be a great place to go with kids, provided they are well-supervised. There is a big yard, and they would enjoy fishing and exploring the pond. (The pond is large enough to accommodate a small boat, such as a canoe or a row-boat, if you have one.)
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for posting a review of our Huron property. We encourage and appreciate feedback and love hearing good things, as we've worked hard to accommodate everyone's wishes. Negatives are also welcome, as we strive to accommodate everyone's wishes; therefore there now is a drip coffee pot and DVD player at the house. We do offer an incentive to returning guests if you would like to book with us next year. Again, thank you for your feedback.
