Most relaxing vacation ever!

Our family of 4 loved Gail's house on Eleuthera. We were so sad when we had to leave. We really enjoyed the outside shower and nice flat backyard where we played soccer each day. The flowers and shrubs she's planted are beautiful as is the wrap-around front deck with all the shells that past visitors have left for others to enjoy. Make sure you talk to John Burrows downtown for fresh fish. Maybe he'll take you on an exciting snorkeling excursion! This is a relaxing vacation where Gail has left lots of books for daily reading.

The Perfect Vacation House

Review Submitted: April 24, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
Staying on the island was our first time and it could not have been nicer. We had spent the last two years on Abaco and found Eleuthera to be much more relaxing and friendlier. Prior to our arrival, Gail had everything prepared right down to having a vehicle in the driveway. Being in contact with her over the winter months she would email us with lots of good information regarding things to do and places to go which was very helpful. We loved working with her and found she is most efficient. After arriving at Jasmine on Wykee Estates on 3-7-09 we thought we had just entered paradise. A beautiful two bedroom house that was full of hibiscus and bougainvilla..for our welcome! What a nice touch!! Beautifully decorated and very clean. The housekeeper, Kathy, prides herself on taking good care of everything inside. The grounds of the estate are just gorgeous. A freshwater pool, that was also very clean, made for a nice "laid back: spot to read, relax and swim. Corty, who is the caretaker of the estate was so nice and very accommodating. If we needed anything, including a fishing rod!, he provided it and always with a smile. We so enjoyed Jasmine with all of its amenities including a very comfortable king size bed and an outside shower. What comfort! Showering in open air with the bougainvillea and hibiscus hanging overhead along with a view of palm trees and the ocean just doesn't get any better! The backyard area is so very private but so beautiful with all of the foliage. Each evening we either sat outside to "star gaze" or relaxed on the wonderful, large screened in verandah with lovely, comfortable deck furniture. Enjoyed many day trips getting to know the island. We found that everywhere we went the "locals" were so friendly and helpful. There are many events to attend. One was a wonderful Friday night fish fry held on the beach in Governors Harbour but watch out for the "Rum Bubbas"...they are wicked!! We enjoyed a great dinner and an evening of Rake-n-Scrape at Tippy's, a Sunday afternoon BBQ at Captain Jack's and outstanding Italian food at Cocodimama. Saving the best for last...are all of the beautiful beaches we had visited during our three week stay. Just breathtaking!! We encountered very few people on most of them. Sometimes our footprints were the only ones!! Our plans are to return to this very special island and its people. We would highly recommend a vacation stay on Eleuthera and being pampered at Jasmine!!

Jasmine The Dream House

Review Submitted: February 16, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
How did we love it?????????????

Let us count the ways:
The house was a beautiful, sunny and sparkling clean...PARADISE, just as you promised!
We loved breakfasting on the lovely porch overlooking the ocean!
We took every shower in the outside shower... looking up at palms, hummers and flowers!
We snuggled in our comfortable bed, reading books we never get around to reading!
We swam in the shining pool and walked the marvelous beach!
We loved every minute of every day and it's all thanks to you and Jasmine!
Best for Couples only as the house is small and don't be surprised that you are near other houses...but in a lovely, well-tended community.

It is a great and nice house with a beautiful garden. The first day, I saw a couple of whales from the living room.
It is a perfect place from where you can visit Eleuthera (North and south).
I love this house.

Charming Island Home

JB&A Portland, OR
Review Submitted: July 7, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
From the moment we crossed the threshold we felt at home. Jasmine House is beautiful and the extra touches (like the flowers everywhere) and all the home comforts: music, well stocked cupboards and drawers full of all the pots, pans, plates and utensils we needed, as well as the towels, coolers, snorkel gear etc… made it really easy to enjoy our short stay to the max. Loved the outdoor shower, especially at night when the stars are incredible. The screened in porch is lovely.

The owner's list of contacts and directions were invaluable. She thought of everything! The beach is FANTASTIC!! We LOVED the island and the people! Everyone was so friendly and laid back… just what the doctor ordered for a vacation. We’re definitely going to try and make it back but for longer next time! I would not hesitate to recommend Jasmine for a vacation.

We needed wireless (currently only dial-up at Jasmine)... and there was wireless access at the library and at the Cigatoo Quality Inn in the public areas… so we were able to tap in while we had breakfast there one morning.

The owner told me that her plans for Jasmine this July include a wireless router and a double bed in the back bedroom (to replace the sleep sofa) as well as a hammock in the yard. All will be great additions.

Restaurants we enjoyed: Dolce Vita, Tippy's. Also, Sunset for great (and cheap) conch fritters.

The BEST Christmas vacation & wedding EVER!! Mark & I decided to re-marry & wanted to spend Christmas with our son in a warm & sunny place. When I found Jasmine House online I knew it would be the perfect place & it didn't disappoint. I emailed Gail & told her our plans & she REALLY came through for us! Gail found someone locally to marry us right on the beach below the house, procured a rental vehicle for our stay, & gave me many helpful travel suggestions to make our trip the best. The house is absolute perfection & we couldn't have asked for a more wonderful place! We are planning another Christmas right now!

We were at Jasmine the first week of January 2008 and we couldn't be happier with our experience. The house was immaculate, beautifully decorated and felt like home within minutes. Everything worked as advertised, and the pictures don't do justice to the style and beauty of the place. The view was great, and it was nice to leave the big windows open and fall asleep each night to the sound of the surf crashing on the beach. Speaking of the beach, wow! We visited 9 beaches during our stay, and we both agree that the beach in front of Jasmine was among the most beautiful (Tay Bay Beach gives it some pretty stiff competition but oh, the drive). We spent many an afternoon playing in the surf and many an evening walking the shore. Anyway, back to the house. The kitchen was wonderful, with everything needed to create some wonderful meals (we cooked at home most nights). The outdoor shower was a hoot too, and very handy when we came up from the beach full of sand and salt. After a shower in the sun, it was very nice to stretch out on the lounges, feel the breeze and just listen to the sounds of nature all around us.
Bottom line, Eleuthera is about the most beautiful place we have ever visited, and we can't think of a better way of experiencing it than by renting a Jeep, exploring all day and then coming home to Jasmine. Perhaps the best compliment I could give is that we started talking about going back to Jasmine even before our tiny plane lifted off from GH Airport for the trip home.

PS Kudos to the staff - Corty and I forget the housekeepers name (sincere apologies - I'm terrible with names AND they say memory is always the second thing to go). Both stopped by during our stay, and both were very friendly and very helpful. A heartfelt thank you to them and to Gail for an unforgettable experience!

Slice of heaven

We stayed at Jasmine for 10 days in May of 2007. We traveled with our daughter, who was 4 at the time. I have to say Jasmine was on of the most beautiful, well-kept, clean, and inviting rentals I have ever seen. Everything you could want was there, including beach paraphenalia (chairs, umbrella, snorkel equipment). The owner of the home has a wonderful artistic touch, and the attention to detail was amazing. We arrived to a spotless home, with fresh flowers accenting every nook and cranny. The large screen porch out front was one of our favorite places. You could hear and see the ocean, and watch the little birds in the flowering shrubs. Out back was an outdoor shower (which we used every day!), along with lounge chairs, a grill, and a seating area under a magnificent banyan tree. The owner was very easy to communicate with and will send you a comprehensive packet of info before you go.

We found Eleuthera to be magical. The people were warm and helpful, the fresh seafood is delicious, and the beaches are spectacular. We rented a car and explored everyday. Our daughter loved beachcombing and dancing with the local kids at the fish fry. I would not hesitate to return to Eleuthera or to Jasmine.

Jasmine House more than met our expectations

k & K New Brunswick, Canada
Review Submitted: February 16, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
My husband and I spent a week at Jasmine House in February and were very pleased with the house, surrounding property, ocean view, and wonderful beach. I felt the description and photos represent the property well. The house is furnished with comfortable and attractive furniture and the back yard, which is very large and has 3 seperate seating areas to accommodate various times of the day, is private and teeming with wildlife. The outdoor shower was a nice touch and we used it almost exclusively during our stay.
Everything we wanted/needed was available including prompt replacement of a gas tank for the stove. One phone call and they were right there to fix the situation.
Our favorite spot was the front porch which is very large with lots of comfortable seating and tables to eat meals, etc. It is screened in and allows the breezes to flow throughout the house, provides a relief from the sun, but still feels like you are right outside the whole time.
We felt so comfortable and really enjoyed the fact that we could just leave all the windows open and let the air flow through the house at night listening to the surf. Actually we never even locked the place up and felt very safe and secure the whole time we were there.
The beach is a short walk down the street and I can count on one hand the number of people we saw during the week we were there. It is like having your own private beach which was as nice as any we have encountered in our travels.

peaceful island spot

We had a wonderful time at the Jasmine. The house was delightful and we had EVERYTHING we needed. As for spaciousness.....the Jasmine was plenty!! We had a full family and had lots of room. It was great sleeping. The outside shower was fantastic....it was the BEST thing to use because we could use the portable shower head to wash the sand off the kids....very convenient and kept the house clean. We could not get over the fact of having that amazing beach all to ourselves....WOW!

We spent more to stay at the Jasmine, because we wanted more....and that's what we got. We expected lots, and we got lots! All in all, it was an amazing peaceful spot to have a vacation!
