We stayed at Boys Cottage for 1 week last July and enjoyed it a great deal. The house is very spacious, clean and just 2 minutes away from the coastal path.
The kitchen is well-furnished with dishwasher, washing machine and dryer and you find all the things you need to cook a nice dinner, which we often enjoyed on the fantastic terrace overlooking the sea!
It is also an excellent basis for trips to St. Ives, St. Michaels Mount, Trebah Gardens and other places.
Should we ever go to this corner of England again, we will definitely stay at Boys Cottage!

Ideal cottage and location, 2 of us stayed here in September 2009 for a week, couldnt have asked for anything better, a home from home place was very clean and very high standard, the view from the top terrace in the garden was fanastic ideal place for eating your meals or just chilling. The village is quiet not to many holidaymakers, great beach and local pub (portreath arms, good home cooked food) both 5 mins walk from cottage, also the coast to coast cycle path starts right next to the pub worth a walk or bike ride, we would recommend this place to everyone, thanks to graham and jane for making our stay so relaxing

A relaxing holiday in Portreath

H L Hertfordshire
Review Submitted: September 9, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We spent a fortnight at this lovely cottage in August 2009. The cottage is in the heart of the village, in close walking distance of the beach, good pubs and a few handy shops. The cottage itself is well equipped with all modern conveniences and is decorated to a high standard. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that, contrary to what has often happened in the past, the cottage was actually bigger than I had expected from pictures online.
The owners were extremely helpful prior to booking and happy to answer queries. Their phone call on our first day to check that we were happy with everything was a nice touch.
My only comment would be that getting up to the terraces (particularly the top terrace) might not be easy for some people. The steps leading up are quite steep and some of the plants had overgrown, making going up and down a little more difficult than I would have liked.
All in all, a wonderful base for an enjoyable family holiday in a beautiful part of the world!

Summer Retreat

Review Submitted: September 6, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We stayed at the property in late May/early June of 2009 and had a fabulous two weeks. Portreath is an ideal spot for a family holiday with a great beach only a few minutes walk from the house, good rockpooling (youngest son reccomends it), nice pubs and other facilities. We found it a great base for exploring this part of cornwall, both walking and further afield by car.

The house was just as described and we found it clean and comfortable with great space and facilities. Watching the spectacular sunsets from the top of the garden was a real treat.

Lovely house, nice location and we would reccomend it to anybody wanting a seaside location in Cornwall.

Good location for nearby beach and amentities.
Cottage very nice but sadly not too clean upon arrival so spent first hour cleaning!.
Great starting point to explore rest of Cornwall, well worth the long long journey to get there and the really bad traffic jams!.
Very good service from owners who dealt with my issue about cleanliness etc when we got home from holiday and issued compensation.

My wife and I and our two grown up sons ( university students) stayed at this delightful house for a week in June 2009. We found it to be wonderful in every way and after a long drive from the ferry port in Fishguard, it was a home from home. All is exactly as described on the web site. I am of the opinion that the owner spared no expense in fitting out this house. We found all the kitchen equipment to be of the highest standard. The location of the house is very central to everything in the village and the village itself is very central to all the interesting sights in Cornwall I would recommend this house to anyone.

Portreaath get-away

We had a very pleasant and relaxing holiday when we stayed at this lovely cottage earlier this month. The cottage has obviously been sympathetically modernised so as to keep a lot of its original character but still give guests the use of a very modern kitchen, attractive lounge, spacious bathroom and two charming bedrooms. We found the sheltered courtyard ideal for having a barbeque and the magnificent view from the top sun decks well worth the journey! We are certainly hoping to return next year.

The Perfect Getaway

Review Submitted: May 25, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
If you're looking for a relaxing holiday in a picture postcard Cornish fishing village, then you need look no further - this charming cottage was cosy, clean and comfortable and within easy walking distance of a lovely sheltered beach, ideal for sand-castle making, sun-bathing or surfing, depending on how energetic you're feeling. There is a well-stocked beach shop and refreshments are just a short stroll away, whether you want a reviving cuppa ( well, all that sunbathing can be exhausting !) or something a liitle stronger ! Portreath is ideally situated to explore the beautiful sights and scenery which Cornwall has to offer but we also found some delightful walks in and around Portreath itself so if you fancy an evening stroll make use of the many books and information provided by the very helpful owners - you won't be disappointed. Parking was never a problem - if there wasn't room outside, space is available at a hotel just a few yards along the terrace. The cottage is spacious and very well-equipped, the rooms clean, bright and with a real home-from-home quality. There is a pretty little courtyard at the back, a real sun-trap, with steps leading up to a series of decks with table, chairs and loungers and stunning views across to the bay - a glass of wine (or even a bottle !!) is an absolute must on a warm evening as the sun is setting. All in all a memorable holiday and a delightful property - highly recommended.

Relaxing

What a wonderful holdiay we (my husband, two girls aged 11 and 15 and myself) had in this quaint little cottage and surroundings. The cottage was clean and very comfortable. The kitchen facilities were excellent. The bathroom was spacious. The main bedroom was comfortable although a little dated. We really enjoyed the short walk down to the beach where we spent most afternoons and evenings (as we had fantastic weather) after sightseeing in the morning. The coastal walks were stunning. The views from the upper deck of the garden were beautiful. We saw fantastic sunsets every evening we were there and it was so relaxing. All the amenities were very close to hand. We also managed to go to a few attractions namely The Minack Theatre which was amazing, Lands End and The Eden Project. Wish that we had gone for more than a week. We would definately go back for another holiday.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your kind review.

We were so pleased to hear that you and the family had a good time and that you found the cottage clean and comfortable.

What a shame you only had one week - Hope to see you again for another holiday !

Am busy getting excited and looking forwards to going to visit the 'Boys Cottage' again ! Such a lovely well-appointed old cottage, with so many sights to visit just a short drive away, or to even stay put in Portreath ! No matter what the weather is like there is so much available just a short walk away : along the coast with spectacular views, or to just sit on the beach ! And there's no shortage of food available with takeaways , pubs and the general store that sells everything !
The cottage was beautifully tidy and clean and being able to park right outside is another bonus. There is plenty on hand to keep you and fellow visitors occupied if the weather is inclement .
