Amazing Ardrogeena Cottage

Review Submitted: March 30, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
We chose to stay in Ardrogeena Cottage over New Year 2008/9. What an amazing place - I have never stayed in a self catering cottage where every little detail had been considered. It was amazing value for money, beautiful decor and spotlessly clean. Plenty of space so you don't feel cramped and it is exactly as it looks on the website. In fact there's not a single improvement or thing missing from the cottage. It's the sort of place you want to keep quiet as it's such a little gem!

We stayed at Ardogeena Cottage for 8 days and can only say what a wonderful place. The hosts Jane, Jim and their dogs were amazing. They answered all our questions about the area and offered their help whenever they could.

The cottage itself has everthing what a self-catering vacationer needs and is the perfect location to explore the places around such as Barley Cove, MizenHead, SheepsHead, Killarney National Park and The Ring of Beara.

And when the weather wasn´t the best we could perfectly relax in the Cottage.

Ardogeena is definitely a recommendation, but do not block our dates ;-)

Thanks again for a relaxing time!!!

One of the best self-catering cottages we have experienced over several years visiting the UK and now Ireland. Everything thought of and very comfortable - especially the central heating most welcome for stay 16 to 27 October 2009. Eggs and soda bread (get the recipe from Jane) plus other basics another pleasant touch. Property just as described and Jane and Jim most helpful. Wireless broadband excellent but no mobile coverage! Durrus pubs (Long Boat in particular) all friendly and the supermarket good value. Beara, Mizen Head, Sheep's Head then Ring of Kerry recommended for touring and walking. Sunday lunch at Blair's Cove restaurant very good value. Definitely would recommend again.

A COTTAGE YOU DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE

Review Submitted: October 4, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
My husband and I stayed for two weeks in September, 2009. We felt at home as soon as we arrived to such a spacious, clean, well equipped modern cottage. To greet us on the table was a home made soda bread (delicious) and 4 eggs fresh from our host's hens. Everywhere was immaculate and upstairs the HUGE comfortable bed made us wish we didn't have to get up in the mornings! Jane and Jim were around if we needed advice, etc, but otherwise we very rarely saw them, but by the time we left we felt we had made two good friends. Ardogeena is a very good base for travelling to so many of the beautiful parts of Cork and even further afield. Such good value for the 2 weeks as well. We have returned home refreshed, with so many memories, thank you Jane and Jim for helping to make that possible. We shall certainly be returning and we shall be recommending to our friends and family, without any hesitation.

Ardogeena Cottage, Durrus, West Cork.

we are just back from a wonderful Holiday in Ardogeena Cottage, Durrus, West Cork, we being my husband and our two boxer dogs. We have stayed in numerous self catering houses all over Ireland some beautiful ones but this cottage was by far the best. Jane and Jim could not have been more hospitable. Everything was supplied in the cottage and I mean everything, down to a tin of dog food and when we arrived Jane had left a "welcome pack" which included Jane's own wonderful brown bread and their own fresh eggs. The cottage itself was a joy to behold with beautiful big rooms and wonderful furniture and fittings. Durrus and surrounding area a place of exceptional beauty. I could not recommend this wonderful cottage highly enough.

This cottage had everything you could ever need for a complete self catering holiday and was clean, tasteful, roomy and extremely comfortable. Photographs and descriptions were accurate and every detail had been carefully thought through, including the nice touches of fresh soda bread, eggs and milk on arrival. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, yet respected your privacy. The location is an ideal base for touring, or for those seeking a bit of peace and quiet the local area is full of places to escape the crowds and soak up a little of the true Irish culture and friendly, laid back locals. In every way, this cottage could not be faulted. Thank you.

From the moment we arrived to a welcome pack of homemade bread, their own free range eggs, milk, butter, tea and coffee we knew we had chosen well. The cottage was immaculately clean and well maintained, with really good quality furniture and fittings.A selection of CDs,videos and DVDs is provided.
When my car would not start,Jim had the answer in his garage!!We got good advice on the best crab sandwiches to be got--O'Sullivan's in Crookhaven. When it rained one day,Jane turned on the heat for us. I would and will recommend this property to a friend or family.
We loved Bantry Market on a Friday and bought lovely free range chicken and veal and fish which Jane kindly froze for us until we left.Schull Pier was our favourite haunt for lunch. The dogs loved Crookhaven for walks as did the two humans.Glengarriff is always magical as is The Healy Pass.Kim loved the Antique shop in Goleen.Allin all it was a great holiday in a lovely cottage.

Lovely spacious cottage

The cottage is comfortable in every way, clean and well supplied with all the amenities you could require, just like home from home. The owners Jane and Jim, allthough close by give you space and privacy, but are very helpful when approached. Cottage ideal for couples but would also be good for couple with one young child and or baby, stair gate etc. all provided, and swings and slide in owners garden may be used. We particularly enjoyed breakfast in the cottage's small, private sunny garden.

Ardogeena Cottage

Review Submitted: June 7, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
June 2009 Just returned from a glorious week in Ardogeena Cottage Durrus West Cork. The cottage was very comfortable very clean and everything one might require to make their stay enjoyable was there Jane and Jim the owners thought of everything. On entering the cottage I immediately felt at home The welcome gifts of tea, milk, sugar, eggs and a beautiful hand made loaf (which Jane gave me the recipe for) was really appreciated. The grounds around the cottage are very spacious and they have their own natural pond which is beautiful and is there to be enjoyed by the people renting the cottage you also have your own barbecue facilities in that area The surrounding areas are stunning and no shortage of scenic drives beautiful beaches and lovely walks. The village of Durrus which is a 5/10 min walk away has ample pubs and restaurants and everybody is extremely helpful and friendly. I would strongly recommend Ardogeena Cottage for all the reasons above and I intend to return some time again as I dont think it will be bet for value anywhere. Dont be put of by the fact that it is in the owners grounds as they afford great privacy and do not interfere in anyway but are there if needed and most helpful thank you Jane and Jim for a lovely holiday.

The cottage was beautiful, very comfortable and has everything you need for your stay. Having spent many a happy holiday in West Cork when our children were growing up, we have only now discovered that Durrus is the perfect location for touring West Cork.
Jane & Jim are thoughtful and accommodating without being intrusive. We'll be coming back and recommending it to our friends.
