Stay at Dunvegan

Review Submitted: October 2, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
A group of 10 of us stayed at Dunvegan over the September weekend and each and every one of us loved it! The house is stunning and very well appointed. There is plenty of space both inside and out. The middle floor is a great area for socialising and accommodates a large group easily and comfortably. Jan and Donald were very helpful throughout the whole process and have added lots of personal touches that add to the overall experience. We brought our food for the weekend with us but there is an Asda supermarket about 10 minutes down the road. We will definitely be returning!

Loved this house!

Stayed at this property with a group of friends recently and had a brilliant time!

In particular we loved the sociable middle floor with kitchen/ dining/ living space and balcony. The house has excellent facilities as described in the advert, the whole place was pristine clean, and Jan and Donald were great to deal with. Easy to get in touch with and very welcoming on arrival providing lots of info to get us started.

The house is close to the lovely beaches on the east coast and we visited 4 different ones during our stay. We tended to stay in for meals in the evening so the stunning kitchen and the BBQ were appreciated and enjoyed.

Big thanks and hope to be back!

Got back from our 4 night stay on Sunday and miss it already. Once you see this place you will not want to leave. The spacious rooms enable lots of people to be under the same roof without getting on top of each other. The layout of the kitchen, dining and sitting area was perfect for our large group. Plus, the weather was good enough to use the outdoor barbeque area and balcony. Thank you Donald and Jan - we had a ball!

A real home from home...and then some!

We were first to arrive our friends following on a little later. Donald was there to greet us and show us around the house; we were truly delighted as the photographs and description do not do this place justice.

The rooms are large, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The bathrooms were modern with wonderful little touches like music at the touch of a button and shower heads the size of dinner plates! We were delighted when we saw the living and kitchen area; the windows and balcony looking out onto a beautiful view was the first thing we noticed; then we saw the sitting room, with three sofas, great tv and lovely decor and the gorgeous (really gorgeous) kitchen with the best of facilities.

Up the next set of stairs...pausing to admire the garden on the way; two wonderful decked seating areas, BBQ, lovely plants, an amazing marble table and chairs which looked more like an art installation than actual seating...the kids loved it. Upstairs was the other three bedrooms, all lovely (the boys room, as we called it, slept 5 easily) with a gorgeous family bathroom with loads of windows to let in the light.

When our friends arrived, they were truly delighted and I got lots of thanks for booking it. We felt really relaxed by the end of our few days there as this is a house to enjoy, to chill in and the kids had so much space, we hardly saw them in the evening as they piled into a room to play or build a den or watch a dvd on one of many flat screen tvs/dvd/Sky (in every bedroom).

Sitting on the balcony with a gin and tonic or coffee, looking at the hills and fields below, the ponies trotting by, the smell of lavender from the two huge pots on the decking, we were very happy indeed.

The nearby beaches at Bellhaven and Coldingham Bay were a must.

The kids were sad to leave though and we promised them another trip soon.

Fabulous house!

We stayed here for a girls' weekend in May. The house really has the wow-factor, it's even nicer than it looks in the photos. The owners were exceptionally helpful and friendly, which made our stay feel even more special. The house was very clean and well looked after. The main living area is huge, plenty of room for the 11 of us staying there, and the kitchen was very well-equipped. Outside there is a gas barbecue with a few tables and chairs, and there is a balcony overlooking fields and hills - perfect for breakfast in the summer. We would all recommend this house to anyone, and I'm sure we'll all be back! I think everyone wanted to move in permanently. Beautiful beaches nearby for picnics or walks.

Absolutely Fantastic

Review Submitted: April 5, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
From the moment we arrived we all instantly decided we were all coming back again. The house was clean, modern, spacious, well equipped and in a beautiful location with an open outlook. We booked the house for a girls get-together and were extremely impressed. The owners were very friendly and helpful and also left us wine to start our celebrations. We have already recommended this property to others and will continue to do so in the future.

Excellent Spacious Property

NeilC Durham
Review Submitted: March 8, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
This recently built house is excellent for family get togethers, the size and space allows two or three families to live together under one roof for a holiday or short break and not feel like you are constantly invading each others space. Despite being recently built this house has the feel of something more established with the added benefits of numerous modern luxury items. If you have regular sized houses which become cramped when you have friends and family around then you will love this house, the kitchen is fantastic and gives this house a real wow factor, with it being open plan you can see whats going on whilst preparing a meal and even if you have a few helpers you won't get in each others way. The views from the kitchen, dining area and living room are excellent as there are lots of large windows so even when its too cold and wet to spend time on the balcony you can still enjoy the countryside, wildlife and farm animals. And yes there are Deer. The house is finished off to a high standard and has some nice touches like the wine chillers in the kitchen, the remote control radio in the bathroom & ensuites and the crushed ice dispenser on the fridge. We found the house to be clean and tidy on arrival and loads of fresh towels were provided.

Located very close to the A1 it is ideally situated for exploring the area, we only went as far as Berwick, St Abbs and Eyemouth but that suited us as we were only on a short break. Once we'd had enough fresh air for the day we were all looking forward to getting back to the house to play at being celebrity chefs in the kitchen.

Donald and Jan went the extra mile to make sure our stay here exceeded our expectations, Jan took the time to chat through everything on the telephone before our break and Donald was there to greet us on arrival to show us around. There were plenty of quite recent DVD's provided to help entertain the children and as it was my 40th birthday there was a bottle of champagne in the fridge for us which was very nice of them too.

The weather was good for the time of year whilst we were there however as you would expect for early March it was still quite chilly so we didn't use the garden very often. The garden is terraced and quite deceiving in size being bigger than first impressions lead you to believe.

I would recommend this property to friends and would hope to visit again myself in the future.

There were 11 of us with ages from 6 to 66 and we all enjoyed our stay.

Truly Stunning!

This is a wonderful house!

We were honoured to be the first people to stay there and the owners worked late into the night to make sure that it was all perfect for us. It is a large new house with wonderful bright rooms simply but beautifully furnished.

There were eleven in our party (including teenagers, a granny, and a three month old baby!) and plenty of room for us all.

The sun streamed in through the many windows all day long and the views out are fabulous. We all enjoyed watching the deer in the early misty mornings on the hillside opposite and the geese and chickens and horses in the farmhouse field just across from the house.

The owners, Jan and Donald, couldn't have been more helpful, providing cot and changing mat for the baby and taking some of our party out for a quick trip to show them beauty spots that we should visit in the local area. The house was fully equipped, spacious, luxurious, clean and truly stunning.

The area is very pretty especially St Abb's Head which is wonderful for walks and photography.

We visited Edinburgh which was in festive mood (it being Hogmanay) and which was an easy drive away. Slightly further but well worth a visit is Bamburgh Castle and the glorious beach beneath it.

One day we drove inland, through Duns and Lauder and up to Scott's View.. a breathtaking panorama of the surrounding hills and down to the river. The nearby Abbey and walk along the Tweed were fabulous especially since, though sunny, it was icy cold and everywhere covered in frost.

This is not a holiday for those wanting lots of easy to walk to, local attractions, pubs, restaurants etc.. we did not eat out as it would have meant people having to drive.. But the fabulous kitchen and huge living room enabled us to have our own party every night.. with wines well chilled in the special cabinets provided. (There are supermarkets 15-20 mins away)

The house was truly stunning and we had a fabulous time there.
