Excellent accommodation in a delightful town

Review Submitted: September 5, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We were a group of 4 families wth teenagers who rented two of the villas in high season. Beautiful and very well-furnished interiors: the air conditoning was certainly a boom given temperatures in the high thirties some of the time, and it was wonderful watching the moonlight over the water from the roof terrace in the evening. Made good use of the barbecue (buying fresh fish and meat from the market in the town) and the table tennis table. We picked the location because it was walkable to the beach in one direction, and to the marina and old town in the other and there was certainly something for everyone. All members of our party relaxed and enjoyed themselves hugely; most had never been to Portugal before but although I know Lagos well I was able to discover new beaches on he wild west coast I had not visited before. The one slight problem we had (we expected twin beds in one of the bedrooms rather than a double) was sorted out very quickly with the owner arranging for an extra bed to be delivered. The only downside was the surrounding development close to the marina, abandoned in parts, with lots of empty properties and a rather sterile atmosphere, but this was the price we were more than happy to pay for being within walking distance of everything. Despite all the new development Lagos remains a delightful and characterful old town with great bars and restaurants, still very good value despite the fall of sterling against the euro. Thoroughly recommended.

we usually stay at a hotel for a week in July but decided to save money and rent a villa. What a great idea...much better facilties and almost half the price. Never been to Lagos before, I would highly recommend it. Very good value and great fish restaurants. Owner was prompt to buy extra sun loungers. We ate in the marina most nights and the kids went over the bridge into town to the discos. It all went very well. Roof terrace is great....gets the sun til after 8...super holiday...kids (14 and 17) loved it too

We rented both the villa and the apartment for my 50th birthday...the property was superb. I really couldn't recommend it highly enough. From the minute we arrived, everything was as it should be. The houses are large and very well furnished. The beds are comfortable, the beach is just 2 minutes walk away an the views are excellent. I thought €150 for the Jaccuzzi was a bit steep...especially with sterling as it is....but in the end it was well worth it. We used it every night.
The kids brought their ipods and connected them to the stereo, we also watched a bit of tv and a couple of DVDs one night.
Restaurants in lagos are very affordable - so we ate out most nights...the lovely kitchen was only used for breakfast.
We used all the facilities, the bbq is very handy and the tabletennis table made for great sport...I may be 50, but I can still beat my 22 year old!! We will probably book again for a week or weekend next year...oh and my wife said the mozzie nets were a godsend...they love to bite her

Lagos Villa

Avril and family Sutton Coldfield
Review Submitted: October 30, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
The Villa lived up to its description, convenient (no car and with a disabled 3 year old in tow, and including 2 OAPs (just!)).
The accomodation is spacious, very clean, and ultra modern, with great sized lounge and huge roof terrace. It has uninterrupted views back to the town, and is well furnished and comfortable, apart, from our beds (twin room) which were a bit lumpy.

Plenty of restaurants to choose from, great little supermarket in centre, railway station on doorstep for jaunts to different towns, Silves, Portimao (fantastic fish restaurants) Faro etc. Bus station convenient for trips to Sagres - great beach and go and visit the Fort, shades of the Foreign Legion and then up Cape St Vincent, where all the navigators seem to have set sail.

There are great walks along the coastal paths, or just dawdling along the promenade and up through the old town.

And then there's the beach-- brilliant for children and sunbathers alike, with plenty of good cafes along the boardwalks.

Enjoy - we certainly did, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend such superb accomodation - can I have the kitchen please?

We had a great holiday here, made even better by the luxurious and spacious accommodation. The beaches were as good as the photos. Can't fault a thing and would definately reccommend to others for a quiet, relaxing holiday in the sun.

A week in June

Review Submitted: October 2, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We stayed in the Villa for a week at the end of June and were extremely happy with everything, the villa has all the mod cons one would need and there is absolutely loads of space throughout the villa.....its huge!!.The marina and town are a short stroll away and there is a great supermarket about a minute down the road by car.The food locally is of a very high and consistant standard and while we were there the weather was beautiful.I would say that normally I am the type of person who can find fault in most things but we spent a very happy and very relaxed week at this villa and we wanted for absolutely nothing.

Greta location brilliant apartment

If you travel to the Algarve, Lagos is the place to base yourself. It is a big enough town to provide all the necessary amenities, plenty of great bars and restaurants yet it manages to maintain its identity as a Portugese seaside town rather than a tourist trap.

I travelled to Lagos with my wife and we wanted to base ourselves close to the beach but not be too far from town. We chose the 2 bed apartment which was perfect. It is a five minute walk away from the marina which has shops, bars and restauarants, a seven minute walk to the centre of town and a five minute walk to the beach.

First of all the apartment. Very clean and brand new. All the info i collected from the owner prior to making my booking proved very accuate. There is an elevator to the second floor apartment and it is the only apartment on that floor. There is off street car parking in a secure underground car park. There are 2 big bedooms which were very comfortable. A fully equiped kitchen, cooker, microwave, fridge and washing machine, cutlery, plates etc. Friends of mine were staying nearly in a different complex and would have killed for a mico wave!! The living room has a table to seat 6, leather couch and flat screen tv. The balcony overlooks the swimming pool (which was never packed thank goodness). Also there was a BBQ on the balcony if you wanted to take a break from eating out all the time. The flow of water in the bathrooms and kitchen was brilliant, and having stayed in other apartments I know that this is not always the case. The air con made sure that the apartment was cool in the evening time for sleep. The windows have electric shutters which keep out sunlight in the morning. The view from the balcony is over the marina and you can also see the beach. When we arrived at the airport we were told to call the agency looking after the letting. That meant that when we arrived at the apartment there was someone there waiting to let us in and show us around. There wasnt a minute of holiday time wasted.

Portugal has the most amazing beaches and the apartment was right beside one that is about 5 km long. I hate small beaches that are cluttered with people stepping on each other. This one was perfect. There are loads of other beaches all within a short drive of Lagos.

I would recommend this location and apartment to anyone. In the aprtment everything is new and everything works. Plus it is close enough to stroll to the town or the beach. Highly recommended.

Just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that we had a fantastic break, the villa and area are amazing.

We are considering re-booking for a similar week next year (probably the last week in August/ first week in September)

Thanks again
