Charming thatched roof cottage

For overseas visitors desiring a holiday in a small village, we can recommend this cottage for its character and charm. The kitchen was well equiped, comfortable bed with a bathroom conveniently next door.
The owners provided lots of information on the local area which was very useful, ideally located for those who want to explore the countryside.

Escape to the Country!

Fantastic clean character cottage in a quaint village on the edge of exmoor. The owners provided a well equipped property with all the necessary facilities for a great stay. The log fire was a particular asset in the cosy lounge. The owners also provided lots of useful information on places to eat and visit. Particular favourites were the Corn Dolly tea rooms and the butchers in South Molten and The Grove inn about 15 minutes drive away. The local pub is also friendly. We also enjoyed exploring exmoor and intend to return to this cottage when possible.

Idyllic Thatched Cottage

Gill and Emma Hampshire, UK.
Review Submitted: November 10, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2008
My daughter and I spent the October half-term week in this lovely, homely thatched cottage in a small farming village. It was very clean, warm and comfortable. Lovely open log fire with plenty of fuel provided. An ideal spot for touring the Exmoor countryside. The north Devon coast (Woolacombe, Lynton and Lynmouth) is easily reached within an hour of driving. Viv and Tony were veryfriendly and helpful. They kept us well informed of local events. We would highly recommend this property.

Home from home cottage, well equipped, comfortable

Rose FLP Darwen, Lancashire
Review Submitted: September 24, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
This was such a well equipped cottage with a lovely small garden. Although it opened onto the road this was no problem even with our small dog as there was so little traffic going through the village.

The bed were extremely comfortable and made up when we arrived. It was extremely well equipped with all the kitchen equipment we needed.

It's situated right in the countryside very close to Exmoor and the seaside easily reached. Very dog friendly as lots of local walks.

We could rely on the descriptions left by the owners of where to eat. They were spot on - and what good food!

To make the perfect holiday we had excellent weather!

Excellent Holiday

Review Submitted: September 20, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Thoroughly recommended. This has to be the very best rental we've enjoyed in here in the UK for many a year: clean, well-maintained, excellent liaison with owner throughout booking period. The cottage is supplied with all the essentials of life - and featured not only a full range of cooking utensils, but also beds which were comfortable. Lovely secluded and private garden. So very comfortable ! Locals friendly - it was good to stay in a working village. Within easy reach of many attractive north Devon towns, and many pubs and restaurants featured food so good that more than a week here would have shot our diets completely. Dog friendly.

This was a holiday, in a wonderful setting, which we will remember for many many years.

A perfect place to see North Devon

Stuart & Fiona Glasgow
Review Submitted: August 6, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay at the Pottery. Bishops Nympton is very much still a working farm village and none the worse for that, with the community shop two doors down and the pub over the road from that. It is very centrally situated for touring North Devon: everywhere from Ilfracombe to Clovelly to Exmoor is about 25-30 miles or 45 minutes by car. Although the weather wasn't so good there is still plenty to do and see. We recommend the attractions round Ilfracombe for those with kids, including quad biking, Chambercombe Manor (haunted house) and a couple of funfairs. The local enthusiasm for sheep racing (we saw it twice) is a bit odd though.

Tony and Viv couldn't have been more helpful in dealing with arrangements and recommending places to eat and visit, and the cottage is clearly a labour of love. One word of warning though - if you're tall (and we are all over six foot) take a crash helmet or be prepared to develop a stoop!

We have just had a brilliant holiday at The Pottery, very clean and comfy, lovely welcome from Viv and Tony. You are twenty mins away from safe sandy beaches, lots to do in the area for all the family, although you do need a car.Lovely area for walkers right from the doorstep.Shop, pub and a lovely church only steps away from the cottage.
Tony and Viv did a brilliant job keeping us updated of all the things to do and see places to eat and places to avoid.
Our stay went far too quickly.Would recommend.

The perfect retreat

Review Submitted: January 7, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
A beautiful comfy cosy cottage, very clean and well equipped to meet all our needs. The Village is well located with very friendly people who made us welcome to celebrate the New Year in the lovely Snare and Gin Trap pub just a stones throw away, which also serves the biggest mixed grill and T. Bone steaks - definitely worth a visit. The Corn Dolly in South Moulton was also excellent where we had a cheese tea and lovely home made soup, would like to return in the summer to enjoy a cream tea. This was the perfect place to escape after the Christmas rush, very relaxing in front of the fire with a good book and DVD's. Lovely walks and views on frosty mornings. Enjoyed a walk on Westward Ho! Beach followed by a brandy to defrost afterwards. The information and service from Tony and Viv was excellent and we certainly hope to return in the future and have already recommended it to friends and colleagues.

A North Devon Gem

Bluevein66 London
Review Submitted: September 13, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
I have to say we really enjoyed our week in this delightful thatched cottage. The location was great both for access to Exmoor and North Devon coast but also you are located in the hub of a rural village with a local pub and grocery store literally seconds away. The cottage itself was very comfortable, clean, cosy and really felt like a home from home. The kitchen was well equipped. We did not get a chance to appreciate the charming garden because of the unsettled weather but would have loved to have enjoyed a summer evening there with a BBQ and a few glasses of wine. Thanks Tony for facilitating a great week.

We had a great time staying in the pottery with our two children. The cottage was beautiful and well kept and most importantly clean!! Lovely garden to relax in and walks practicaly from the door,
everyone was friendly and helpfull wherever we went.
Good base to explore from, we discovered woolacombe and combe martin for the first time and they were beautiful and not overcrowded even in august!
We have recomended this property to our friends and they have booked and we have also booked for 2009 already as dont want to miss out on a return visit next year!!!
