Had a great time

The location of this apartment was excellent. Just off the Royal Mile and minutes from Grassmarket, Cowgate etc. The apartment was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. Cate was extremely helpful and welcoming. We had a great time and would strongly recommend a stay here.

Owner's Response: Delighted to hear that our most recent guests had such a great time at Anne House Apartments. The location of the Apartments, right in the heart of Edinburgh's Historic Old Town, but on a residential square away from the traffic makes this a great all-round base for your short break or holiday in Edinburgh.

Great time in Edimburgh

Review Submitted: October 26, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
As a family of four with 2 teen-agers, we had a great time in Edimburgh. Anna house Apartments contributed a lot to make our stay successful: the apartment was extremely well located so that our teenagers could also go on their own do some sight-seeing and shopping along the Royal Mile; it was also clean and spacious enough for the four of us. Cate's warm welcome made it even better if possible! So a big thank you to Cate! We can only recommend it highly.

Great Location and Kid Friendly

We stayed at the balcony apt the first week of August 2009. The location is perfect for access to the Royal Mile, and with two bedrooms was just right for a family with 2 young children. Kate and Susan could also accomodate a parking space for us as we had a rental car for travel outside of Edinburgh. We very much appreciated that Kate met us at the apt upon arrival, and she was also able to arrange for a babysitter for 1 evening. We look forward to visiting again.
Owner's Response: We try our hardest to help our guests enjoy their stay at Anne House Apartments, and it's lovely to be acknowledged with 5-star reviews like this one.

This property is a fantastic place to stay while in Edinburgh - very close to the Royal Mile, while still being quiet enough to get an excellent nights sleep... highly recommended to anyone travelling to Edinburgh. The owners a very friendly and helpful, and the facilities are all excellent.

We would absolutely stay here again - it's great value for such an excellent apartment in this location.

Fantastic location and value

We stayed at the Anne House apartment for 4 days earlier this month. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cate and Susan are very responsive and communicative; payment and other details and logistics were handled quickly and efficiently! The deposit refund was prompt.

Cate met us promptly at the apartment when we arrived, and gave us a great tour of the unit. The flat is spacious and well-appointed; we had 4 people and it never felt cramped. The beds, couches, etc are all very comfortable.

The location can't be beat... just a few blocks from the Castle, but also very proximate to New Town as the apartment is just a few steps from Cockburn St, which leads to Waverley Bridge.

All in all, a fantastic place to stay, and a great value for the cost! We'd stay here again in future trips to Edinburgh.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your glowing review of our property at Anne House Apartments. When guests have such a good time, it makes all our efforts behind the scenes - and front of house - worth while!

Holiday rental accommodation makes such a great alternative to hotels, allowing our guests to come and go as they please, to eat when they want and to sleep late when they want. We make every effort to ensure that our guests have a comfortable stay and we're delighted that so many choose to return time after time to keep discovering the delights of Edinburgh.

Review Submitted: May 10, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We were celebrating our sons 18th birthday in the city and need to get all the visiting family accommodated and the appartment fitted the bill brilliantly. Firstly the welcome we received from Cate even before we arrived in terms of directions and fitting in with out time schedule was very helpful. The detail of the info provided was great as was all the relevant tips Cate willingly passed on. The unexpected welcome pack was a lovely touch. All the guests were impressed by the size, functionality, cleanliness and the quality of the linen and towels provided. There was nothing in the kitchen that we needed that wasn't there. Its so good to see things like washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets provided - it says a lot about the pride cate takes in the flat

Location wise its superb, so near the action but really quiet at night for a well deserved sleep to recharge the batteries. We will have no hesitation in returning and recommending the flat to friends.

The 2 flights of stairs would be a barrier to those not up to climbing them but this is clear on the details provided.
Owner's Response: We are delighted that our guests find Anne House Apartments to be the ideal location for city centre living. Our aim is to make everyone's stay special, and to ensure that they have all they need to make the best of all that Edinburgh has to offer. Finding a city centre location which has parking is a real bonus in an old city such as Edinburgh, but our guests usually find that once they have parked they can forget about the car and explore Edinburgh on foot as the proximity to the Royal Mile, the Castle and so many things to see and do in the city means the car isn't really needed until the return home.

Absolutely Fabulous!

Just had to say that we had a fantastic time in the Balcony apartments in Edinburgh. We were a group of 6 ladies who have all stayed in Self catering apartments before but I have to say this was an excellent experience. From start to finish the attention we received was just far and beyond what we expected and what is usual. The apartment was a really good size and was even better than the photos/descriptions on the web site led us to believe, it is by far the best I have stayed in, equiped with everything you could need. The rooms were lovely and clean and the bed linen and towels clean and fresh. The two bedrooms were an excellent size and even for 6 of us there was enough space to move around . The Central siting of the apartment is fantastic with the Royal Mile etc on your door step, we didn't realise how close everything would be. There is even a parking space if you need it which we didn't need but is a premium in Edinburgh. Susan the lady who helps with the arrangements was ready to answer our many questions and her replies were prompt and helpful. We were greeted on arrival by Cate the owner, who, from the start was so welcoming it was a pleasure to stay there. She even returned and left us a spare towel the next day, nothing was too much trouble and this really helped to make our holiday that bit more special. We did the Mary King experience on the Saturday morning and the Extended Ghost Hunt with Mercat Tours late on the Saturday night and both were really good. The Ghost hunt was fun and informative and some of us did have experiences that we would be hard pressed to explain away as normal! All in all our weekend in Edinburgh was just superb with all of us enjoying every minute of it, the people were friendly and there is just so much to do and see. We have all decided that we do need to go back again (hopefully later this year) and yes, we will definitely be wanting to stay at the Balcony apartment as we have all agreed when you find something so good why look any further!!!!!! Thank you Cate and Susan for making our stay so good!
Owner's Response: We are always particularly pleased when our guests have such a good time that they want to come back again and again.

Just this week we were reviewing our bookings for the year, and so far around 30% are from returning guests. That's a real recommendation when there are so many options to choose from for a holiday.

Our aim is to make everyone who visits want to return to Anne House Apartments and to keep on exploring the delights of Edinburgh - as our reviewer says, there's so much of it within a very short walk of all of our apartments.

The great thing about our city centre is that there is so much for everyone of all ages - it's particularly popular when families have teenagers to entertain as it's possible to balance different activities and desires within the group - tours which entertain and delight and are a little bit quirky, like the ghost tours or graveyard tours, coupled with more traditional exploration like Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse - both within a "Royal Mile" of our apartments!

With so many cafes and restaurants nearby, a self-catering apartment doesn't meant that you need to actually 'cater' - you can go out for a meal just as easily, or opt to return to the apartment for a relaxing lunch and save your pennies for a special treat later in the day.

We're hoping 2009 will be not only the year of Homecoming in Scotland, but also the year when UK travellers decide to see more of their own country, and Edinburgh's certainly a great place to visit at any time of year.

We look forward to welcoming you to our lovely city soon!

Happy Hogmanay

Review Submitted: March 10, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
The Balcony Apartment is in an excellent location for exploring Edinburgh as it is only a few minutes walk from the Royal Mile. It has the added bonus of a parking space if required, which we took advantage of. The apartment is spacious, clean and very well equiped with all that a family could need for their stay. We had a very warm welcome from the owner on our arrival who showed us around the apartment and helped ensure we got the most from our stay in Edinburgh. I would highly reccomend this property to anyone wanting a break in Edinburgh. There is so much to do and see and much of it is within walking distance from the apartment. We enjoyed our family holiday there so much we have already booked our return break for later in the year.
Owner's Response: We're delighted that families and groups of friends find our Balcony Apartment, just off the Royal Mile in Edinburgh's historic City Centre an ideal place to spend their holiday time and that guests like Tim and Carol enjoy themselves so much that they want to return.

There are two bedrooms which can be set up as either doubles or singles, and the double sofa bed in the lounge mean we can accommodate up to six. We'll also provide a cot and high chair at no extra cost for our younger visitors.

The Balcony Apartment has a small balcony where you can sit outside and soak up the atmosphere of the local area, enjoying a morning coffee or evening aperitif.

Edinburgh is a wonderful place to visit at any time of year, and making one of our three apartments your base here means you can park your car in our private space or garage for the duration of your holiday and head off to explore the city centre on foot.

We're very close to the Royal Mile, where there are plenty of cafes and restaurants so you can eat out if you don't want to do much 'self-catering'. There are restaurants to suit every budget and taste nearby, from fine dining, to bistros, seafood restaurants and pizza parlours - and fish 'n' chips.

A short walk to the Castle, and close proximity to many Festival Venues, the Fringe Box Office and Mary King's Close mean that you can start exploring as soon as you have unpacked!

We're near main bus routes, or within a short walk of many parts of Edinburgh University, making it a good base for graduation visits, parents visiting students, or those considering Edinburgh for their studies.

And if you're researching your Scottish Family History we can direct you to the many resources nearby.

From Edinburgh you can take day tours to explore much of central Scotland, and we'd be happy to help you find a tour to suit you.

Edinburgh Airport has flights to many European and International destinations, and we are also within a short taxi ride (or a brisk uphill walk) of the main railway station, Edinburgh Waverley, so you can take advantage of reasonable rail fares and come by train.

We look forward to welcoming you to Anne House Apartments in Central Edinburgh and hope you too will want to come back often and keep exploring Edinburgh.
